Still in love with my HP x360 dual color Chromebook, so listening to this review made me even happier I waited until there were substantial incentives before buying my x360. It is perfect for the average user like me. I don't need more bells and whistles to watch You Tube, Netflix, and answer a few emails. It's always nice to find out I made a good decision, for my needs. Thank you for this review.

He said the same thing about the dim screen of the other 360, which I have, though he doesn't mention it. Other reviewers have said the same thing. Obviously HP are not taking much notice. Maybe the screens last longer if less bright, I don't know. It's fine for me though, and the performance of my 360 is excellent, 8 gig of Ram especially. I always appreciate this guy's reviews. Great channel.

Deal breaker #1: Dim Screen (by far the most important UI) . Deal breaker #2: Price. Case closed. At $1,200, there are lots of Windows laptops to choose from. Don't like Windows? Get a Macbook Air 13"... that's as premium as it gets for the $$. I can almost feel how much you want to wrap the review up at 4:10. Thanks for finishing the job to keep it professional. Kudos.

How did HP drop the ball so hard on the display? I recently upgraded from an HP Chromebook 13 G1 to a Pixelbook, and I have to say the display on the Pixelbook isn't a huge step up. By far the best part of the HP 13 G1 was the display.

I have the regular X360 14 and coming from an Acer 13 I did notice the screen brightness, but it's not really an issue 99% of the time. In real world usage, at least for me, I just have the screen set to about 75% vs having the R 13 at about 50% in the same scenarios. After about a week it's a non issue and it doesn't seem to impact battery life. One thing I can say is that the 1080p panel in this blows away the R13 1080p panel for image quality, color and especially contrast. Where the R13 screen seems to wash out with darker scenes making details harder to make out, this thing just looks fantastic all the time. If your use case involves a lot of outdoor usage, maybe the brightest could be an issue, but it's rare that I use mine outdoors. I'm with Robbie on getting the regular one. It's a steal at $399 which we regularly see these on sale for.

The exact same model you reviewed is available on HP's UK website for £910.80 incl. sales tax with 48 Hrs delivery. There is no option to customise, its this model only, but that's par for HP's UK website! This surprised me because if it is $1200 in the US, it is usually around £1200 in the UK. I agree at this price it should have at least 128 GB storage. I didn't see any mention of active stylus support on HP's UK website? I purchased a Lenovo Yoga C630 Chromebook with i5 quad-core, FHD display, 8GB RAM, 128 GB storage, and backlit keyboard. Cost £649 in the UK. I love this device and these high power Chromebooks really come into their own when running more demanding Linux apps such as Android Studio, or dare I say games, especially with crostini GPU support enabled!

After doing a lot, I mean A LOT of research I gave come to the realization that this Chromebook does not support anything but capacitive a stylus. HP says it's because it's not built into the screen. If you can prove me wrong( and I'm praying you can) I'd definitely love to know. I have purchased USI, MPP, WACOM and others, all to no avail. If you find something let me know. Till then be blessed.

Should you buy... If a Chromebook is the machine you use all the time, yes. If you use Apple or Windows most of the time, a cheap Chromebook is the right choice. Occasionally, you can get HP products cheaper buy from HP directly. You have to pre-build any system on their site and email the specs to yourself. They'll send you a discount code a few hours later. I pre-built one of these with the Core-i3 CPU and they sent me a link to get it for $500. I'm not buying it since it doesn't beat my older HP Chromebook 13 G1's display.
@jordant25 жыл бұрын
@DerpyDoge Definitely true, but I'm running Linux through Crouton instead of the native Crostini since it supports more Linux apps. I'm able to use Veracrypt to read my encrypted hard drive and gparted to partition and format external drives. And it supports GPU acceleration for 4K video watching and editing. Non of this works using linux natively through ChromeOS. After running more of a full blown Linux Distro and ChromeOS, I only have 9GB remaining on my current Chromebook so 128gb would be nice moving forward.

I have an HP 360, and know this: it's a great Chromebook, screen is fine, fast and great to use, but the FAN noise is almost constant, very audible, and annoying. Don't take my word; other recent reviews confirm. It's a problem with HP laptops. In tablet mode, or any mode, it blows at you. My next chromebook will be fanless and not an HP. Nice Chromebook but fan is not acceptable. And something else. These reviews that talk about 10, 11, 12, 13 hours of battery life should take a reality pill. Sure, if you have the screen brightness down to minimal, and if you just do nothing on it. In the real world it's nothing like that. I get maybe 6 hours on this chromebook, usual online work, nothing intensive. That's more like it. Real world usage facts please.

I have literally never been happy with a HP machine. They haven't proven reliable for me, or even satisfactory out of the box. Generally, they have crap speakers, passable screens (not good enough for the money), poor durability (I'm not even hard on them, I mean just in and out of my laptop bag, they end up with structural issues), and I don't find HP's keyboards comfortable. Keyboards are a huge sticking point for me. The other dealbreaker on HP, for me, is charging. The only HP I've owned that charged over USB-C was not USB PD compliant. It required a 19V HP charger, and would refuse to charge off a generic USB-C power supply capable of 65W (well more than the Spectre X-2 required, just it had a compliant 20V mode, not a 19V mode). HP keeps this eggregious anti-consumer crap up on all of their machines. Before I'd ever even consider a HP, I'd want video evidence of someone charging it with a generic power supply. Kind of important since, if I want to pay a reasonable price for anything, I can't buy off an Australian seller. I have to import foreign models.
