Great Review. I purchased a chromebook a few months ago and strongly considered this model. I did see a price drop for this model to $450 ($150 off) during the time I was researching Chromebooks. I ended up going with the HP Chromebook X2 and would recommend it. I ended up choosing that model because I have been longing for a new android tablet for several years now. The X2 felt better as a tablet. For any cost conscious consumers, I got the X2 presidents day weekend when it went on sale for $399 ($200 off), but I purchased an open box model for a deeper discount and got it for less than $300. No regrets since.

I just purchased one at Best Buy and there seem to be some changes from LON.TV's original review. The screen hinges are stiffer so there's no problem with it flopping around or using the touchscreen in display or laptop modes. The touchpad isn't very sensitive for the first 1/2" around the sides and bottom. This is a little bit of a nuisance on large click and drag screen selections but that should be alleviated once I start using the touchscreen more often. Also, the bottom of the base is plastic. It fits perfectly with the aluminum top of the base and doesn't feel cheap although there is a little flexure when picking it up by the bottom corner with one hand. Other than the Black Friday big price drop, $350 as @TheImtoomuch has mentioned, it seems to be the same as the one on LON.TV's review. One further clarification is that the USB type C ports are ver. 3.1. There are different types of USB type C. This one uses version 3.1 which provides over double the transfer rate from ver. 2.0, up to 100W power for larger peripherals and the ability to plug it in in either direction (i.e. there's no up or down). I got this as my home/personal travel laptop. Since it was about 1/4 the price of my Macbook Pro it makes a great adjunct. The shiny screen and brightness haven't been a problem for me although I've only used it inside. Also, I'm new to the touchscreen concept so I don't use it much and haven't looked into what type of stylus will work with it. Thanks LON.TV for the great initial review.

I own it, and only bought it because I was patient enough to wait until the price dropped down to $450 at Best Buy during a holiday promotion sale a couple of months ago. This was the one I had my sites set on and I am extremely happy with it. While originally lusting after the Google Chromebook, I couldn't justify $1000 for a Chromebook, or even the $700 it was briefly on sale for as a refurbished item. I appreciate the backlighting and the feel of the keyboard, as well as the screen size and the 2 in 1 feature. I own two Chromebooks, this one being my primary now and my Acer R13 as my "backup" device. So far, I am expecting the HP to be the last Chromebook I will have to buy. At 70 years of age, both of my Chromebooks should last long enough!

I think it was a bargain & performs great considering its a lower spec to this higher spec model you reviewed. Pity you cant upgrade the RAM / Storage though as I hear they are soldered to motherboard. But a really good Chromebook overall & well made. @billdonaldson57144 жыл бұрын
@@kingdingaling781 I have the Surface Go with 8GB of ram and 128Gb SSD. It's fun, and I have loved using it, but I find the tablet and key cover impractical to use unless you have a table or desk. It is not always like that when you are travelling. Performance? The i3 8th gen chip in the HP runs rings around the surface go. It's bigger and heavier than the surface, but the HP has greatly out performed the surface in battery life in my experience. The HP is a well-designed machine, albeit heavy, and offers a great chrome experience.

Looking back on this review two years later I can't shake the feeling the X360 is a tad too cheap. Maybe I'm spoiled with higher-end laptops but while most things seem to work well it's the small things. A screen that's a tad too dim, a keyboard that's not bad but not really great either, a touchpad that can get a bit flakey time to time, battery life that's not bad by any means but far from what similar Chromebooks offer, an sd card reader that could have been better designed etc.
