+Hents McGee The screen is matte and has good brightness. I was using it under florescent light with no problem. My biggest issue with this laptop and also the only reason I sold it was the terrible viewing angles. If you just tilt your head up and down a little bit the screen literally becomes unviewable. At this time, I wouldn't recommend getting this laptop as there are much more better options.

I bought this laptop in April of 2018. I use it daily with DJing software & to manage my music files. Great for the price ($230 refurbished on Amazon) I love all the features. When I'm home I use the display port to hdmi on my TV & work with that because the display isn't that great but it's decent enough. It's tough reading the font on some things off the dj software but it's not a big deal. My son even tried playing roblox on it & he was amazed on how great the game played.

$700 wireless mic. Random interference happens. I tone them down in post, but it's the best I can do until we figure out what's causing it in the studio. Have tried different frequencies, have tried everything...

Great review. Just ordered one of these, can't wait till it arrives. Had to gift my last HP, it just wouldn't wear out or break even after hauling it around the planet several times...unbelievable build quality for the price....but i need to look at something new to look at and lighter.

I have this laptop for work and i love it. The unit is utterly fantastic.. but you get what you pay for. With 8GB of ram and a solid state hard drive it is smoking fast.

+Hents McGee The viewing is obviously best straight on... buy that's fine for me as it's either docked and connected to a monitor or if I am using it, I am right in front of it. (if it was say: a 17" consumer model then a wider viewing angle might be something I would look for)

Bought this for $275 on Amazon certified refurbished. Came with Windows 10 pro, core i5, 180 SSD, 16 gb of ram (mistake on their end, it should have came with 8 gb). I replaced the battery with the 3rd party unit. I am pretty satisfied. Blazing fast with 16 gb memory. I wish the screen was a little better but I can't complain at this price point.

still using 3 of this atm, all of them is still in a great shape, considering the age. one of them running windows 10 pro + 16GB RAM + 128GB mSATA drive with 1TB HDD and runs like a champ. pretty good for a light mobile laptop, too bad the battery wont las longer than 5 hours even in new shape.

They did it in phases. A lot of people got it a while back but then switched back, some just had it all the time. It was so they could test it without rolling it out fully.

true. true. although I might have been biased cos where I work, most laptops sent for repairs are HPs and Compaqs, all with overheating and mobo issues.. but I know HP is definitely coming around

The Elitebook would have been on my shortlist with many outstanding features ( display port, replaceable battery, build quality, 16GB RAM max memory, Ethernet, 3 USB 3) were it not for the following 2 problems: - Ultra low res. When will PC makers understand that even business users value Hi Def and that at the very least full HD is expected? - Non touch. The time is right for a touch experience, why not offer the option?

I love notebook keyboards, in fact I bought my Logitech Illuminated keyboard purely because it's very similar to a laptop keyboard :P not great for gaming but I love the short key travel and quietness.

I for one welcome the changes, though some changes should be made for the new UI to make it "as good" as the old one. Some things are still lacking, but an overall good user experience.

Erm, most of the ones you'd consider swapping them in within the next few years have replaceable batteries already. They stopped making them user replaceable (which isn't actually true, they can be replaced, they're just not covered if you do it yourself, so out of warranty it really doesn't matter if you do it yourself anyway) in 2010. It really isn't an issue in any way. I wouldn't buy a cheap battery for any laptop, even if it wasn't a Mac so the price is fairly irrelevant.

I don't think you got what I said. They are cheap because they are cheap, not because they are bad. I am talking about brand name batteries from the laptop maker itself. Not some knock offs. How would you replace that older PowerBook from Apple if the battery wasn't user replacable? What happens after the 3 years? When it is most likely the battery to require the replacement? Having batteries NOT being user replaceable is bad for the customer. (same for hard drive and a bit less for RAM)

one of the only things that is bad about the folio is that they use a single band wireless NIC. Our guy that does the technology purchases bought about 200 or so of these for our business and when we were going to try to use it with our 5Ghz only wireless, i wouldn't pick it up because it uses 2.4Ghz only.

Sounds like they need to re-assess their cooling strategies. I'm still baffled that any notebook maker is using bottom-fed airflow as opposed to side drawn. Where do most people have their laptops? On their laps, beds, couches, etc. I know so many people who end up suffocating their notebooks and end up with damaged hardware. It could be that the reason most of them were HP/Compaq is because they're some of the most popular notebooks.

The comments on his video are some incorrect, because Windows 8 is a great OS,even with some other problems it might have. This is noticed from any new OS from Apple or Microsoft; however, they can fix those problem with update and patches. Thus this is a very robust laptop for professionals and businesses,because of the flexibility of switching from Windows 7 to Windows 8.

I have this as my work pc for the last 2 months and the ssd shot craps today. it worked great and rebooted and the hd could not be seen by the bios. I took it out and it is a crap no name brand and could not be seen on any other pc for data recovery. I called hp and they are sending me a whole new pc so at least the support is good, don't get me wrong I love the pc and every laptop I have bought in the past 7 years has been hp so don't think I am bashing them

Buying cheap batteries is a bad idea. Apple support their laptop line quite far back. You can still buy batteries for PowerBooks from Apple directly. Of course it's an on order part, but you can still get them (granted if you have a laptop that old you're really best off just replacing it lol). Apple batteries also last for 1000 charge cycles. It doesn't sound a lot, but thats 3 times the industry standard. They replace it free if it packs in before 3 years or 1000 cycles (within said 3 years).

My 2010 MacBook Pro retains 95% of its charge still. This is one of the things you pay for with a Mac, which most people completely ignore when they look at the prices. They last. In the same period my sister and all of my friends who don't use Macs have replaced their battery at least once, and they're still in the same "it only last 30 mins at the most" boat they were in before replacing it. These are official Dell/HP/Sony/Acer batteries too. They're just crap.
