Hope you don't need to open high res images with that 4GB RAM. Not meant as a criticism personally to you as it is your choice, but most new phones come with more now and don't have to run Windoze. @John Lear it can get pretty loud when you're stressing it and it gets hot if the fan isn't cranked when you're doing intensive work. Just turning it on won't turn on the fan. Just to note I have the ryzen 7 version that does not actually have smt so it's 8 cores 8 threads. I also have the 1000 nit screen option, which seems less bright than I would have thought and it doesn't support HDR. It smudges super easy and gets a little bit dim off-axis but I'm not sure if that's because the 1000 that one has a privacy filter. Other than that, I really enjoy the colors and the vibrancy of the screen and for media consumption it's pretty great. I'll answer any other questions ASAP if you need!

A friend of mine failed to do so (pressing the power key even for more than 10 secs didn't work) because the power key (not button) seems to be not hard wired like any other power buttons in other laptops. He had to wait til the battery ran out and then recharge-restart the Envy. If this happens to this model and any other particular models using the same power key, HP needs to fix it. Is there a way to tell the year which the Envy x360 was released? I can't tell if I have the 2018 or 2020 version. The seller isn't sure either

😭😭😭 right! I'm still trying to understand model differentiations

I think the main difference is the placing of the speakers and the fingerprint sensor. The fingerprint sensor for the 2020 version is integrated in the keyboard not under it. And the speakers are not over the keyboard but on the backside of the laptop. The camera kill switch should also be integrated in the keyboard not at the side with the ports. From what I've read all mentioned above only applies to the new 2020 model

@@blubberfisk3194 Thank you. I have the 2019 version now and you were right with most of it. The fingerprint sensor was the biggest tell

Hi Lisa, great video! If you look at 4:31, is that (screen left) hinge not bent?

The small wrist-rest space on these HPs are the reason I will never buy one. They should have instead make the display taller and put the keyboard closer to the top edge. Xps, surface and macbooks are much better at this.

I agree. Years ago originally, I had an old Power PC that I used a lot for coding and writing; it was great. Then I became influenced by the smaller laptops, and bought a second gen Intel Macbook Pro 13. Both laptops were 16:10, but I felt the 13 was too small. I ended up buying an i7 Samsung 15.6”. That Intel i7 was completely underpowered, not to mention how it would overheat (couldn’t keep it on my lap while doing simulations). But the strange thing was how terrible the screen was, and that goofy 16:9 format felt as cramped as my 13” Macbook Pro. I would love to get a 16:10 Windows laptop with a Ryzen 9 4900H with or without a dedicated GP, and a 400 nits screen. I just can’t find one.

So true, I guess they're going for compactness but I think widescreen laptops are so bad to use. I prefer to have 16:10 and that extra bit of height really makes a difference.

yea i wanted to get the spectre x360 over the xps13, only thing that turned me off was that tiny trackpad that could be made bigger had they opted for a 16:10 (or 3:2 *gasp*) screen lmao

Excellent review! Really helped me narrow down my options for what performance ultrabook to get. (Hint, it's probably going to be this!)

Compared to current Ryzen 4000 2-in-1's, this Envy has the best display in terms of color accuracy so far. Really tempting purchase.

I like almost everything about this despite the lack of HDMI. It is still the most reliable port when you need to constantly hook up your laptop to projector in client's place. Still this will likely be the one to replace my aging 7 years old laptop. Quick question though, what's your thought on the durability of the drop jaw USB port? And if it's broken off over the years, will it still hold on to a USB cable/device? I tend to keep my stuffs for a long time.

I'm interested in the HP Envy laptop for it's brightness 350 nits or higher. Can you help me find the specs that shows the 400 nits? I'm looking to purchase at Costco but can't confirm those specs for display.

Hi Lisa, Did you experience any PWM screen flickering at low brightness levels ? I'm looking at the 15 inch. but have seen conflicting reviews on the monitor..(??)
@kt1gumpert4 жыл бұрын
15 inch will not have the same screen + it's cheap out some parts compared to the 13" (ram speed and rigidity)

I also bought one, There is a gap of about 0.3mm on the right side of the touchpad, I see the same situation in your video Will it be a problem to use?(maybe dust intrusion or water intrusion)

Lisa.....which one you suggest among laptop that you have reviewed in this 2020 to replace my 13 years old laptop that i use now. I want to upgrade and use it for long time again like the one i use now. I am not a gamer at all.
