Seemingly there is a new BIOS 1.05 that increases the fan speed. Should be on their server soon I updated to 1.03 last night and was seeing 98 degrees

This product is so new that their website doesn't even recognize the product number. Had to use HP auto detect model in their site to get to drivers page and I don't see the new BIOS yet unless i'm already looking at it named "HP Firmware Pack (Intel Processors) F.03 Rev.A" I'm not too fond of the fan curve thats for sure.

The G7 was selling for 880 in the US around two days ago. 8gb less of ram and no HDD but around 200 dollars less when taxes are added in(for my area.) Still very competitive.

I just picked up a g7 for 880 (1060, i7 8750H, 16 gb, 256 GB SSD, 1TB HDD). Best buy was doing a 150 off sale and you can also buy the laptops (open box) 150 off for total savings of $305 (not sure where the 5 came from but it was on my receipt so hey whatever). My only issue is the display is only 60 hz (and no RGB keyboard :( ) but for the price it was an extremely good deal.

Hello! I was wondering if this laptop could be upgraded with liquid thermal paste instead of the simple thermal paste it use. A lot of people has some heating problems with hp omen laptops like 90 plus Celcius while gaming, so if we could use liquid thermal paste it would do much better job in my opinion. Sure, you can put on LM yourself. It might help a bit, the problem though is the fan doesnt spin up super fast and there is no fan control. Probably better with an undervolt and /or lowering the multipliers

I bought the Dell g3 with 1060 max q I returned it and got this omen, even though both screens are supposed to be the same the omen looks way better, sharper , also the omen has the i7 and 1060 regular, the Dell was 800 but the extra 200 was worth it with the omen, more ports more storage overall better design to me...

G3 looks much thinner and is much thinner according to specs. But Omen is tempting at that price. Too bad it's in store only, so price point is a tough comparison. Your G3 is 200 cheaper - will be interesting on the gaming performance front between your G3 and Omen!!! Can't wait for your smackdown. One nice thing the Omen has that others don't is the DP output - that should support GSYNC correct? Not a fan of the overly gamer bling design on the Omen. G3 looks more classy.

Hey Eric, yes, flat on my desk there is about 4 to 5mm between the two. Some of that might be because of the not so high feet on the G3. Should be a good smackdown. I'm with you on the lid design on the Omen. Looks a bit tacky to me but I like the quality of it inside. Thanks!

Only 60fps max? With GTX 1060 you could easily get up in the 80s on most games on high or ultra settings. Can't really hear in the building I'm currently in so o i can't hear if there are better screen options. Nice video Steven!

go with G5/G7 if you are worried about thermal performance, you still have to undervolt but it will perform better in comparison to omen and in hot climates that will come in handy, thats why I bought a G7 over omen. with undervolt you can get 3.6ghz on all 6c/12t throughout with gpu running, though I dont think you will be needing that much performance even with dual boot and with this heavy load, battery will go down quickly battery life should more or less should be same on both maybe G7 excelling somewhat cos of Optimus with 56whr compared to always on gpu with 70whr on omen I havent personally seen the screen on omen so cant comment but if should be better than dell by slight margin atleast. y530 on the other hand looks cool but tops out at 1050ti, looks like it has sufficient cooling for that.

It coming, so far its slightly faster than the G7 and faster than the G3. Runs hot, peak 98 Deg, hopefully HP will issue new BIOS soon so I can test that too. Fans are really quiet - hence the heat. Screen is slightly better than the G3 I'd say, which isn't saying much, lol.

My Hp Omen has a thermal Throttling problem. Goes up to 97°C when gaming. It's been like that out of the box. I'm not really complaining about it cause I'll be conducting a thermal repaste

as far as i can understand in windows mode the laptop cannot use the cpu's internal gpu in order to save battery life? can this be changed manually (not automaticaly)

No, unfortunately not. They do give you the option to switch the CPU to a max 20w and that adds 20 minutes of battery life but performance is of course worse and doesnt seem worth it to me. Undervolting the CPU will add about 15 minutes so I would rather do that

I like the Omen 15 better. I do like the G7 but I like the smaller footprint of the Omen 15 . its keyboard is more solid and you can change its colour. It has smaller bezels too which make it look more sleek. Amazon sells my Omen for $1250 so if you have to pay that (assuming you can't get it from Microcenter) then I would be tempted with the G7 . 20% saving is pretty good for similar performance.

@@arnav520 Yes its working fine, I have overclocked the screen to 95hz since I have the AUO panel and undervolted the processor to -125mv on cache and -200mv on core.. when gaming it runs at 3.7ghz on all cores.. undervolted/overclocked the gpu a bit using msi after burner battery backup is a tad low.. and I find the screen brightness to be on the dimmer side rest everything is great.. recently repasted the cpu/gpu and now the temps dont go above 90C

those old pavilion series were awful, had really bad thermal design that use to heat up battery.. their batteries use to die out in an year though I hope better for this premium omen line.. I hope that this will have a better layout

There's always risk in buying this high prized laptops, I bought an Omen 15 last year and my BIOS died in 2 months I guess (I'm salty :( ) but I have to admit that the customer service is really good. :)

My first HP Omen (2016 model that looks identical to Pavilion lines) with GTX 1050 4GB and i5-7300HQ seems having thermal issues since it’s a single fan design (being a budget model) when playing on Sniper Elite 4 or any very graphic intensive games. The 2017 model (with GTX 1060 and i7) did better job however. As it never overheated and never ran on full speed yet.

Yes it does, peaks at 98 deg on the CPU. GPU is fine. Performance slightly better than the G7 so far. I will play around with undervolting and the multipliers to get best temps. HP is releasing a new BIOS that increases fan speed so once that is in place it should be good..

Yes, and I will be selling it. Done ALL my tests. Working on my slides on the G3, I have recorded footage against the G3 for a separate video. Tested everything, including switching the CPU power options in the BIOS. Did THREE battery life tests - each one taking about 3.5 hrs. Only issues are heat, but undervolted solves this, even with the new BIOS.

Don't you think new issues may appear after more usage. Is the omen series trusted in the US? How is the build quality and how many years do you expect it to last with constant gaming usage?

Parth Chauhan things can always go wrong. My Alienware 15 R2 had a speaker break after 12 months. It seems well built , can the hinges fail? Perhaps but I cant really test that . All I can do is test it as hard as I can in the time I have. I cant afford to keep it for a year and do a follow up, I need to sell it and move on. HP are a good manufacturer and I have had HP laptops last me a long time.

Parth Chauhan I've bought a few open boxes and so far I've been ok. I feel more confident in Best Buy ones as they check them. I dont think Amazon checks them and I have buddy who bought one and he ended up repasting it as it ran super hot. Sometimes people just dont like it. I have bought a Newegg one and that was fine and they will take them back. Only thing with Newegg is if it is a refurb they will only swap it out versus money back

Hi, I purchased this laptop and was wondering how to unlock the multipliers on all of the 6 cores. any help? also any cooling tips other than undervolting?

You can alter the multipliers using Throttlestop, the max is 41 so you can increase the lower cores to that if you want. You can also reduce the multipliers and thus the max clock rate - something I am doing on the Razer 15 and that brings temps down. I believe switching to balanced mode rather than high performance mode will have the same effect. Stick with the default profile, not their boost one.

Can you test this machine about its temp. at full load??? and the temp after undervolt it..... It is a major consideration for me to this laptop as its reviews in china community are bad about its temperature. Also, please discuss about the omen command software in it especially the streaming feature. The thunderbolt 3 type c port is full bandwidth 40mbps?? Because some reviews show the hp cut down the bandwidth for low spec version. Thanks!!!

I'm confused between HP Pavilion 15-dk0045tx and HP Omen 15-dc1093TX. Both are having the same specifications but I want to buy a laptop with the better build quality, performance, and durability. I want to use a laptop for at least 5-7 years. I'm using Hp pavilion au 006tx for the last 4.5 years now I'm having some overheat issues. My main purpose is not gaming but build quality and long term performance. I use a laptop for remote desktop connection to my office, watching videos. I don't like to buy another laptop for 5-7 years so build quality and performance I insist. Please provide me some suggestions also (Only hp). My budget is around $1000 max. I prefer a 15.6-inch screen but if it's a good option I will go for 14 inches also.

I wouldn't get either, both run hot. You are better getting the 2019 models. The 1650 model of the pavilion with the i5 runs cool but it does struggle to cool anything more powerful than that. I have the latest Omen 15t with the i9 and 2080MQ and it is a solid performer.

Thanks, glad you like my videos :) I do like this Omen. I have downloaded most of my games but not tested it yet. The speakers seem quite good, keyboard nice and firm. Someone said his hinges failed after one week ..? I will start doing some game testing tomorrow and can give you a feel on temps and performance if you like.

Haha, the GS65 and Razer 15 in the UK are about the same price for similar specs (~£1700), whereas the GL703s with similar specs are probably around £1000-1100. I do love the better screen, super thin, small bezel laptops though!

SupernovaX360A I agree. Logically k should have got the gtx 1070 GS65 for $2000 but I had reviewed the 1060 one. The Razer selling like crazy. Personally I think it is over valued . The Clevo P955ER was an option but HID stopped selling it as even liquid metal could not cool it. Cant wait to try the GL703 , I want to test if against the Razer and also against my GTX 1080 gaming box. I bet there is not much difference with the latter...
