I'm not the best doing repairing so in this case I had to send mine to a technician, for some reason, only one fan stopped, the CPU to be more specific... is there any special care that I should have with the fans?

Just to clean them out every 6 months by blowing air through them. If the fan doesn't last then it was a cheap fan, they sell some junk out there, but just keep it clean and keep an eye on it!

hello sir! NOT sure if you would respond to that but I am hoping! my omen 15 dc 1088wm is no longer working, got a blue screen and later in the same day it turned out dark. before this, I had recently went to fix the fan and it did work for two days with some cleaning, but then stopped working! I travelled so I could not get it back to the repair shop and had to do work so I kept using the laptop this way, wishing it had an intel graphics so that I could just switch this dedicated gpu off!! Obviously that was stupid enough of me that I had to leave it until this has happened! the repair guy said it is a gpu issue and the options were very slim. one said you could heat the gpu OR replace A CERTAIN material underneath it, OR that I could change the GPU itself. OF COURSE, the very obvious and probably the best option in replacing the board was there, but it is no longer supported on the hp site AFTER I GRATEFULLY used the code list in the description. BUT I can't seem to find it *some said that since I bought it from the US and it is now in egypt then this means I have to get a motherboard from there as well* I was also told that the first two options are very risky and everyone refused to do them for me, changing the gpu had a six months warranty on it, and I was also told that this warranty period is intended to be the lifetime for this fix, and beyond that it probably won't work! I would really appreciate your opinion on this! can the board be fixable by any chance? where can I find a new motherboard/working motherboard for this laptop? is it worth it for this laptop? IF ANYONE HAS GOT THE SLIGHTEST IDEA PLEASE DO TELL ME!!

Take out the memory stick and under it is a model # for the board. L#####-### get me that number. Also do you know the exact CPU and GPU.. ex: i7-8750H & 1050Ti

They are different brands and that's just their particular reference number for each fan. They spin and cool the same though!

Great video, my Hp Omen is 350D5UA also called Omen Laptop 15- ek1013dx. Is this expected to have a similar process or would it need different kind of fans

Always check the pictures etc. But its usually similar process even if different fans!

I just changed the GPU side fan and laptop was working. Then did the same for CPU side fan! but it does not work anymore! I mean when I hit the power button nothing happens. Like the is no electricity in PC. absolutely nothing! whyyy... :((((( ?? what can be the reason?

I fixed it. For those who might face with the problem same as me: I was not taking out the thermal heat, I was intending only to change the fan. So when I inserted the fan it hit a very thin wire that goes to power button. it is exactly on top of the fan. But most probably you cannot see it because it is exactly under the heat sink. So be brave and take out the heat sink. also open the power button pins. and examine it. see if really the wire is out of the power pin. if that is the case you can easily insert in again. if the problem is more sever you can order new one. In my case it was the fact that the wire was simple out of the pin. So I inserted again. and reassembled eveything and it worked just fine.

@@saadterkawi5576 above the fan, under the heatsink, there is small board like 8 cm * 2 cm. it has 3 or 4 small screws. If you problem is the power pin. open the screws and examine it. there should be a plastic/wire connector connected to this board. make sure it is connected, and the board itself is healthy. Hope it helps! (have a look at 9:22 of the video)

Very helpful, although i dont know where to get good quality fans, got similar looking ones form a similar source half a year ago, and they have already stopped working as the mechanism inside the cheap chinese ones i got is ineffective and i cannot see how these sorts of fans could last longer than a year, as they simly have the fan balancing on a metal spike, instead of having a central rod on a bearing, meaning over time the plastic is work away until the point where it no longer is held on p[roperly and the fan scrapes against the housing, so i now have to get new fans every half a year!

Also you can keep looking on ebay for oem fans, as the model becomes older you will see more. I see a set and the heatsink sold a few weeks back but was $100. Kinda Expensive.

Ok this laptop also has a 256 SSD too i think OS and all my Documents are save there the C drive. I just wanted to put all my games on a 2tb HDD. Can i just replace the HDD? @@computerspecialist8533

This model has 2 typed of drives it can run. a NVMe type (you can see in the video @5:10) and a 2.5" Laptop (Older) style sata drive that is on the top right on that video @5:10. You can replace your 256GB with a larger and clone you drive or you can just add a larger 2.5" Sata Solid State drive as a secondary drive and put your games on that! (@@SN1P3R808

If you are making it a secondary drive, make sure laptop is off (not sleep mode) and install, once booted run "Disk Manager" and it will ask you to Initialize the new disk, pick GPT. Once Initialized you can click on the disk in disk manager and format it. Leave settings default (NTFS etc.). Give it a name like "Secondary 2TB Storage" etc. and should show up in your file explorer now!

And i have a problem because the screw you are talking about in 2:08 have a broken thread. I saw that i can use strong glue and put it at the end of the screwdriver, do you think that will work? I dont want to break screw thread more.

​@@JchenTheChen It works as new. I also used compressed air to clean laptop out. I didn't even remove the whole cooling system. I only removed the fan as shown in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3yzZ5qqn856g68 . By the way I didnt changed the thermal paste for 3 years now 🤣.
