hi! im pretty ignorant about tech hardware so i wanna ask if you have to put the tape back after disconnecting the cables? i want to replace the keyboard and theres replacements on amazon for like 20 bucks, but i have read your comments and you say it's better to just plain out buy the full palmrest. is it actually possible to replace the keyboard with those 20$ modules or is it too risky? (considering i have never dissasembled a laptop and i always paid someone else to do it lol). its just that im not in the US and bringing parts down here gets like x2 more expensive than the part itself 😭 so getting those 20$ parts are way better for my wallet than those +80$ palmrests. but i wanna be sure the laptop is not gonna die after replacing the kb. and another thing: is the screen replaceable? its also damaged.

@computerspecialist853323 күн бұрын
So you can do that but few issues with that. First it's hard to find OEM keyboard by itself. Aftermarkets are junk (to me anyways). They feel cheap and delay type etc. But if you wanted to, you have to break all the plastic rivets (There is a ton of them) and make sure you glue the new keyboard in on all (not some, i seen some bad jobs 🤦♂️) the rivet areas you broke, with dots of crazy glue or hot glue etc, or the keyboard will push down when typing and not type properly and / or even damage motherboard with short etc.

@@computerspecialist8533 Hi, I ended up changing it anyway. I only found the keyboard at a decent price, considering the urgency of the customer and the fact that the PC is old, I think I did a good job. I hope there are no problems, but as I was saying the customer was in a hurry and it was not advisable to spend so much on an old device. Thanks anyway for the reply!

hello sir! NOT sure if you would respond to that but I am hoping! my omen 15 dc 1088wm is no longer working, got a blue screen and later in the same day it turned out dark. before this, I had recently went to fix the fan and it did work for two days with some cleaning, but then stopped working! I travelled so I could not get it back to the repair shop and had to do work so I kept using the laptop this way, wishing it had an intel graphics so that I could just switch this dedicated gpu off!! Obviously that was stupid enough of me that I had to leave it until this has happened! the repair guy said it is a gpu issue and the options were very slim. one said you could heat the gpu OR replace A CERTAIN material underneath it, OR that I could change the GPU itself. OF COURSE, the very obvious and probably the best option in replacing the board was there, but it is no longer supported on the hp site AFTER I GRATEFULLY used the code list in the description. BUT I can't seem to find it *some said that since I bought it from the US and it is now in egypt then this means I have to get a motherboard from there as well* I was also told that the first two options are very risky and everyone refused to do them for me, changing the gpu had a six months warranty on it, and I was also told that this warranty period is intended to be the lifetime for this fix, and beyond that it probably won't work! I would really appreciate your opinion on this! can the board be fixable by any chance? where can I find a new motherboard/working motherboard for this laptop? is it worth it for this laptop? IF ANYONE HAS GOT THE SLIGHTEST IDEA PLEASE DO TELL ME!!

Yeah that's way to hot! The pads wouldn't affect this, since that's all thermal paste area! What paste did you use? and also its the same model laptop? Reason I ask is some new models use liquid metal now, not thermal paste. I have customers that try and replace the liquid metal with thermal paste and it would work good enough! It's easy to spot since it looks like metal. You also sure the fans are spinning properly, the heatsink is screwed all the way down (Like one screw isn't stripped etc.) and that you can see through the fins on the heatsink (No blockage)? Also you can set the fans at high with software or even a button the keyboard, try doing that and see if you get same temps.

Hello!, came to this video to ask a couple questions Lately the fan has started to turn on and off (the gpu was averaging 250 rpm on max in nitro sense, which wasnt the case before since it used to be around 5000+ when on max), I've checked to see what the problem of the fan was but i couldnt figure it out, and was wondering if you have any ideas about it (the fan makes this really loud noise whenever it spikes from 250 rpm to over 2000, and then it just stops making the noise when it drops down to 250, rpm or lower again on max) Also the performance has gotten way worse, i cant run most of the games i play on 60 fps anymore, now its running around 30 or less. I've had this laptop for over 2-3 years now so im not suprised if its started degrading from use overtime So if you have any suggestions on what i should do or fix, please let me know, i would really appreciate it.
