This is actually a very attractive little machine for homelabs. With Proxmox on the eMMC and an extra SSD it should already run Ceph and there should be enough breathing room for Kubernetes. Or you run Kubernetes bare-metal from the eMMC, format the SSD with BTRFS and mount the volumes to where containerd stores its containers and Rancher stores the volumes. That PCIe should also be powerful enough to run a 10G NIC if you want to.

The problem I see with these low-end SBCs is that we haven't seen anything new in at least 2 years (arm chips barely have any presence, the latest from Intel is that said n305 (which has the letdown of being confined with 16gb of single channel RAM) and the latest from amd is only those horrible steam deck leftovers they call mendocino, which btw,were even older tech CPU side)
@natearrigoni17 күн бұрын
I hope the mini-PC market booming these days might help manufacturers invest in some better SBC's but I don't know how much of a market that would be. I would like to see all of them running Linux. Although, with these type of devices, I do find myself wondering if it's worth it, given the effort to set them up and the price point. Unless you really need the power and the ability to stuff it into a tinier case, I would just go with a Pi. Of course, it might be useful to compare them with mini PC's, because they're both tiny and powerful, even if drastically overpriced.
@vng17 күн бұрын
Have you actually tried running a 3050 through the PCIe slot? That slot is not a full length slot, so it will not be able to deliver 75W of power. You might be able to run an older Quadro card like the P600 with a lower power draw.
