I swore there was another video on the process where they show some kind of sponge internal to the printer that occasionally needs to be cleaned too. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Supposedly it's used for the printer's own self-cleaning cycles and sometimes problems could occur if it gets saturated. The issue is I can't find that video at the moment, but I recall watching it somewhere.

Just decided to reply to my own post, since if you're cleaning the printer it sort of answers itself. If you slide the cartridge tray more to the left, you can see into the covered area that it normally hides under on the right. (Might need a flashlight to angle in there.) And there's the waste ink sponge. In the middle of where the sponge has a cut-out you'll see a raised square thing that looks like rubber at first. However that's the $1000 blob. (Considering the amount of waste ink it likely represents.) You can get in there if your hand is small enough (mine is), otherwise you might need some stiff wire to wrap around a wadded paper towel. And keep in mind this process warrants a roll of paper towels and a bottle of rubbing alcohol to get it out. A syringe for the alcohol and swabs with a long stick for better reach may certainly help. Probably worth its own video, as it can be worth cleaning - will likely prevent the need for doing the basics of the main video here for a good while. But I guess the mess it represents is why a lot of people may avoid covering its cleanup. A lot of dabbing and wiping with the alcohol to get it all out. Not that terribly hard as you can see it and reach it without having to take the printer apart, but at least one hand will be inky for a while.

Hi! I removed the whole printhead from my hp deskjet ink advantage 6525 printer to clean it, then I replaced it back. Now when I turn on the printer it says “the door is open”. I removed it again and put it back again very carefully, making sure everything is in the correct place, and it still says tha same! Do you have any tips what should I do??? :(

I never recommend removing the printhead on this model under any circumstances. You must clean it without taking it out. At this point, I would advise you buy a new printer here is a link to the Hp 6525 on Amazon: amzn.to/2uzTadg .

The Printhead is shot then, I would recommend buying a new printer. Or replace the Printhead If you’re up to it.
