Hi all! I watched this video and tried the process. When I reinstalled the printer head, I got the "failure" message like so many others commented. I tried switching off the printer for several minutes, pressing and holding the power button for 20-30 seconds, removing and reinstalling the ink and printer head. Nothing was clearing the code. I grabbed the alcohol and a cotton ball and wiped the contacts in the printer and on the ink cartridges. I was able to get past the "failure" code to a home screen, but then the printer tried to run a five minute calibration, and I was right back at printer head failure. I turned the printer off and back on, and got to the alignment screen. I ran the alignment, and again, got the failure code and instruction to turn off and back on. This repeated a couple times, and I eventually cancelled the alignment and went into the "tools" menu to run "Clean Cartridges". The "Print Quality Diagnostics" page from the "Clean Cartridges" process printed pretty well, but then when I tried to run "Print Quality", I was back to "failure". Off again and back on, and I seemed to be making progress with no errors back to home screen, so I tried to print and got an immediate "failure". Back off, back on, and tried the "Tools" menu to "Clean Cartridges" again. (I am persistent if nothing else.). Printed nicely, so I tried to print a webpage. Again, "Printer Failure - There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, and then on. If problem persists, contact HP". Not giving up, the ink and printer is working just fine, but there is a slight disconnect somewhere. I noticed it was getting late and decided to sleep on it. I powered off the printer to let it sleep on it as well. ;) I'll update comments when I work on it again.

So I got back to it a day later, turned the printer on and printed a webpage with no problems. Sometimes electronics need to be powered off for quite awhile to allow a reset to occur. Good luck!

I want to take a moment to thank you for your videos on repairing the print head issues of this HP printer. I was in a hurry and considered going to the store and purchasing a new printer. I have the HP7520 All in One and it is an excellent printer for moderate use. The ink is expensive and the printer gobbles it up. My issue was regardless of the HP recommended steps, i could not get the black ink cartridge to print at all. So, I found your videos on YT and read the replies…Some had excellent results, some did not. You state alcohol, preferably 91%, plus a soak overnight. HP recommends no alcohol, just water, or also ammonia and water mix. I used 70% isopropyl alcohol and only soaked the print head for 10-15 minutes with some intermittent swirling of the print head in the alcohol. I then removed it from the solution, rinsed it well in water, dabbed it dry with paper towels, and then applied my blow dryer on high flow, cold air…I flipped the print head in all directions to take advantage of gravity and spent 10-15 minute drying the print head. I reinstalled it, the ink, reset ( i did not do a factory reset) the copier and voila! Success! The alignment sheet that is printed out when aligning the print heads automatically engaged and for the first time since I had this issue with ZERO black in printing, the alignment printed up both black and blue ink! So, I accomplished this in 45 minutes, my printer works as new, I can use all of my ink and unopened ink cartridges, and my day is a bit better today! Thanks again for your tutorials.

I have had my 7520 for YEARS! I have used it for small projects not heavy duty use but when I make greeting cards or print an occasional photo. I love this printer but when I started to get black streaks it was spoiling my cards. Had not a clue of even what a printer cartridge was until I thought just go on amazon and order a new printer.... Ummmm I saw their price on the 7520 and almost fainted... that's when it occurred to me to search for a youtube video... Holy Cow! Your instructions are clear and consise and I am ever grateful. I am not even going to confess the gunk that I found on the printer head... Good grief! Most every mechanical thing we own requires maintenance and I should have known better! So after never having been cleaned I did the alcohol soak and swish as well as come brushing along the outside edges to get the build up off... (sigh)... Anyway, I did see to follow up with a water rinse and I have done that which allowed for a ton more poop to clear out. While I am thinking this isn't funny my life has been so crazy lately that I am smiling at myself for being so lame in not thinking of this sooner but happy that I did before I ordered a new printer! I used my dryer and have gently dried out everything so we will see what happens. I am still going to let it sit just to be on the safe side. Gee, If you ever wonder about your video and did it help folks... That's a huge "hell yah" from this gal. Thanks so much. Thinking on it had I taken it for a service call I could have been waiting for Lord knows how long and paid for a service call and a new printer head or labor time... Instead, you helped a bunch of us out and for that I say thanks so much!!!😃

My printer sat in storage for 4 years, but was printing well. HP printers suck ink, so I have replaced the ink cartridges twice in probably 5 months of moderate use. Last night when I really needed it -zip. Blank page. Ran diagnostics, ran onboard nozzle cleaning, and it is, as it always seems to be with this model, a problem with the black ink, although it shows it is a third full. Really hoping this works. I'm not willing to buy more ink unless I know it will work. Lots of gunk/ink rinsed out as others have described and I'll leave it for at least a day to dry. Saw another KZbinr who recommended an isopropyl alcohol soak. Might try that if water alone doesn't work.

After doing this, the display says “printer failure. There is a problem with printer or ink system,”. I wonder If I did something wrong or if there were additional problems. Have you seen this after cleaning before? It was definitely dirty and got clean.
@BestPrinters6 жыл бұрын
Hello, as long as you wiped everything down before turning the printer back on to use there should be no problem. That code is very common at this point the only thing you can do is try cleaning it again. If it still doesn't work and has that code the printhead is corrupt and I would recommend buying a new or used printer here: amzn.to/2K8yWe4 .

Error Missing or failed printhead; the printhead appears to be missing, not detected or incorrectly installed - only issue i had was needed new ink; should this message still appear if all ink cartridges are removed. I did clean print head in water only - did not resolve; i do not want to put brand new ink in if the printhead remains with error

I bought a new printhead, so I could take the old one home to clean it and not be without the printer in the meantime. After installing the new printhead I have the same error :(

My printer says the same thing. But the I'm out of ink and I'm actually missing one of the cartdriges. It doesn't even let me connect to the wife. I haven't used it in a really long time. I don't want to purchase new ink if it's not going to work anymore only because I haven't used it. It's in perfect condition looks new. Do I need all of the cartdriges in there for me to be able to get out of that screen where it tells me 1 or more cartdriges is missing or bla bla bla
