I just repaired one of these, the culprit was on of the large schottky diodes (shorted)

Hi There is some videos in youtube showing dell or hp psu hot plugs convert to bench power suply. They could run the psu hot plugs by connecting some pins but they just could run them to take a small curent not the maximum curent. Could you please tell me how to run my "hp 2450w hstns-pr16 platinum hot plug" and "hp 2650w hstns-pr42 platinum hot plug" into a bench power suply to take the maximum curent and power? What if we insert 82 ohm resister with tny279 switching ic?

Installing a more resistance resistor instead the original low resistance resistor will increase the limiting of the current going to the Ic and would cause the resistor to overheat

@FixTronics Would it only cause the resistor to overheat? Or would it also cause to give less current on ic drain and thus ic does not work and so does the power supply especially with 82 ohm resistor?

Hello brother Missing Standby voltage could be caused by the TNY277PN ic or its current feed resistor ( normally low value resistor ). About the diode reading 10 ohms in circuit is normally caused by a parallel resistor connected across the diode. Which is normal if outside the circuit reads ok. If the TNY277PN current feed resistor is not burnt then try replacing the TNY ic. It can be faulty but not shorted. All the best
