YES THANK YOU i was worried that looking for „hp reverb g2 beat saber“ would only show me videos from people who play like they played the game for like 30 minutes in their life

The misses in this song are my bad, not the tracking. Controllers aren't ideal, but at least up to this level of play, I find them totally usable! I think for 95% of players this headset will be totally fine for beat saber. Here's another Beat Saber video with a slower song and more movement: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gH2qnJahoLGJn6s You can catch my streams here: www.twitch.tv/tapping

@@iamkirito I am well aware of this and I was in tapping stream when he was testing it for about an hour, its not much of an issue really due to newer players moving slower and within range of the sensors more requently.as well as this, Beat Saber itself has no such algorithms that predict movements as it would highly conflict with the drivers of the headset software, which do in fact have predictive tracking, this is why Oculus headsets have far superior tracking to Mixed Reality, as they make better use of the Accelerometer and Gyroscope through software. Although, the lack of tracking at waist height is in fact an issue for most games. also, was it really necessary to send 3 messages with my @ rather than just one....
@TappingTV4 жыл бұрын
@@iamkirito That's not a tracking algorithm, that's just called a "hitbox". Wonky Cow is correct. Besides, even at a casual level, who is slicing blocks that slowly anyway? Most people swing.

Finally! So tired of seeing people playing on Normal difficulty maps and saying the tracking works fine off of that. My concern is that I tend to play with larger strokes with my CV1. My hands don't ever go behind me but I my swings do end up around the waist and above my head. Is this an issue with the G2? Does the tracking recover if it loses track at these spots?
@TappingTV4 жыл бұрын
It's fine as long as you're moving -- that's why MRTV's tracking tests appear to be very robust. If tracking is lost, I find it sometimes recovers fast enough, but sometimes causes me to miss some notes. For the most part though, it's good, I can play though most songs without any tracking issues. You just have to keep the tracking volume in mind. I've posted another video now just to show how larger movements look, if you're interested. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gH2qnJahoLGJn6s

I really like this review. Nice conclusions. I went for the G2 having owned and still love the CV1. Tracking issues don't bother me, I only used one sensor in the Rift for a while so had plenty of tracking volume issues, so it's fine! I do think HP or Microsoft messed up on the placement of the cameras. The Quest 2 cleverly has the bottom cameras facing slightly downward so that solves the issue around the waist. Of course the additional camera on top also helps and means the upper two cameras don't need to cover as much volume. I really feel Microsoft need to sort this out, despite the poor camera positions, it would be a much better experience if the controllers outside of the voliume don't jump off to a weired location, also it would be better if they also snap back straight away once back in the tracking volume. I feel you can get a much better experience if some more work was done on the software alone. One positive though, there does seem to be more activity with Windows Mixed Reality now Microsoft Flight Simulator is coming to VR and I think we'll see some better software further down the road as we're seeing with the visual update recently and I understand they are improving there own reprojection system as well, so fingers crossed we'll get some updates to improve the tracking experience as well.

you know the Quest 2 has only 4 cameras, right? right?
@dtrjones4 жыл бұрын
@@TyrellW Yes sorry the Rift S has the camera on the top the Quest doesn't. But what it does have is super wide angle lenses which track large volumes and are positioned in such a way that coverage is much better in the Quest 2 than the G2.

I was worried about my G2 coming this week after reading all the tracking issues online, but this doesn't look like there are tracking issues that will bother me. This is the G2 tracking that everyone is bitching about online? It looks good to me.
@TappingTV4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's complicated tbh -- for beat saber the tracking is totally fine -- the fast movements are tracked well, and the controllers accelerometers keep the tracking predictions accurate since the movements are fast. For slower movements etc, the story is tricky. I criticize the tracking in my "first impressions" video, to make sure people are aware of the limitations. People who say the tracking is unusable though, are either having a weird issue, or are just throwing a fit. Tracking is "okay" and usable, just not great.
@bryonmiller43264 жыл бұрын
@@TappingTV Oh man it sounds terrible for games like Onward. I'm coming from a CV1 with the outside in tracking so it's pretty good, on a comparative level it sounds like it's going to be bad experience in FPS games. At least I can use it for DCS World. I'll just have to see how it feels.
@50REN4 жыл бұрын
Tracking isn't what you should be worried about, there is a VERY VERY common issue with mixed reality headsets where the screen just straight up doesn't turn on, the tracking shows up on screen but the screen in the headset doesn't turn on, personally I've experienced this to the point where my headset never displays anything, although maybe the fact that the g2 uses display port and stuff like that it might be fine for you, but I would keep that in mind.
@50REN4 жыл бұрын
@Heycel there are tons of Reddit posts and people posting on the Microsoft answers page about it, it happens lots of headsets bro. Display adapters and nothing fixes it its been an issue since mixed reality first launched trust me. I've bad a mixed reality for over 8 months and its happened to me 4 times all of which I've had to completely reinstall windows to fix, except for this time where not even that worked. Just google mixed reality black screen its the first result.

I appreciate the video but you do not really adress the tracking issues here. the complaint is not that the tracking slacks while speed picks up but that the controller totally fail as soon as you have your hands/arms in a relaxed position hanging down on your sides. it's clearly noticeable at the very end at around 3:43 when your left controller starts spazzing out. not sure if it's such an issue as people make it out to be but all I can conclusively see here really is that it works with your playing style.

Well honestly I think competitive beat saber takes the fun out of the game. Not necessarily here but some competitive players end up looking like an idiot flailing your arms in such ridiculous ways to hit blocks. It's not the have fun/dance kind of mentality that the game is built on. Same with the claw grips on the oculus touch. That feels like cheating.
