My Reverb G2 just showed up at my door out of nowhere. Pre ordered it in early November. From what I was hearing, I thought I was gonna have to wait much longer. Then BANG. I have a big box at my door.

sorry if you already know ham but , useful is that the G2 highlighted some major flaws in x570 motherboards, mine the Gigabyte x570 auros elite could not provide enough power to the ports to maintain the steady power for the G2 reverb, There has as well been updated bios to resolve this and error messages are now only every few months and can easily be resolved by actually only removing the power head set connect silver connection to the small box and putting it back in. I know this vid is nearly 2 years old but its quite relevant still as only the software will change. There is also a Firmware update to download from HP . Bizarrely this firmware was for loud audio making the headset flicker, i know bizarre. i have installed this and its just a Windows WMR file. Briliant headset jut i think even today 2 years later games such as ACC have VR support as a last resort unless you have a 3090.

@@karimnageib3836 theres no way its 13, i tried Q2 and it feels like 30% (86") lower than index.. same like rift s.. while with index i got around 115" horizontal ... G2 fov is about the same with Q2 or rift S from what i gather info.. mrtv lied.. and the clarity is only sharp on its center.. the edges is blurry.. while on index.. everything sharp

yes.... I have exactly the same issue with triple monitors... had to unplug ALL monitors apart from one to get the headset working!!

Thanks, got a 1080ti and picking up the Quest 2 tomorrow. I think super sampling will do the trick in games where i can afford performance loss.

MRTV has details of a simple mod to increase FOV, ditching the existing face foam and plastic bit, BUT if you do it right you can get it back to stock, so it's not a mod that damages the headset.

Where did you preorder from? I also preordered in late September from Connection, and have gotten absolutely no updates on it. I'm assuming late September orders are delayed to January, but I've just been completely in the dark as to whats happening with it.

So I'm running a 1080ti which I believe is approx 30% more powerful than a 1080. I'm struggling with the 1080ti (depending on the game) with the G2. Therefore I unless you are upgrading your setup, I don't think you will get good value from a G2. Yes it will be clear but you'll have to scale it down until down until it looks crap. With your setup I'd recommend the Quest 2 as it be easier to run, Oculus PCVR games are slightly better optimised and it is better all round headset (WiFi and stand alone games). If you really want the G2 I would suggest pairing it with a 3080 minimum IMO.

If you want to see your desk etc with the G2 just say "flashlight on / off and point the controllers, it has a see through facility.

Yep I was aware of the flash light, but I don't it that useful for interacting with my environment e.g. changing my mixer levels by hand or checking the gun stock mag cup positions very quickly. I think a custom face plate is the way to go for me.

I had a CV1 and now the g2. 3080 and 7700k. The GPU is struggling but the picture quality is top notch. The controllers are heavier, tracking not as good and the shape is in the way when handling reloading guns in VR. Still I recommend it 100%

Did you say you’re struggling with the G2 with a 3080 GPU? I too have a Rift CV1, and also 7700k, and am finally looking to upgrade to the G2. Current GPU is 1080ti which I was going to upgrade to a 3080... but you say this struggles?

@@Banthah Did you get your G2? Regardkng performance it really depends on the game too. Take Dirt Rally 2.0 for instance, even on the 3090 I have to drop the graphics to medium to guarantee 90fps on the G2 (see my other vids). Assetto Corsa Competizione is hard to run on anything LOL. Games like Onward and Pavlov will run really easily with a 3080 on a G2.

Yeah the G2 needs a 4080 or 5080 :) But HL:A or Beat saber for example runs smooth with highest settings. It really depends on the game. Lone Echo didn’t run good at all. Had to drop the quality a lot.

@@HamVR I haven’t yet no. It’s my birthday in March and I am considering it, but I think I’m likely to hold fire a little longer. I’ll need a new GPU for sure, and at that stage will probably be looking at a full new system. It’s a case of can I be arsed,,, I play Elite Dangerous mostly, and so the G2 would be a great upgrade for this, once I’d set everything up again (new PC, transferring my HOTAS to the new system and so on... I’m not sure I can face it right now). But, I do play other VR games - Pavlov, Skyrim, where tracking is required, and in this area the G2 would definitely be a downgrade. So, I’m probably holding fire now

WMR Portal is not directly another layer. Just startup the WMR portal and then open Steam and start a game. It will just run fine. You don't need to interact with the portal. Good first impressions video. Thanks. You should do the headgasket mod. Some users have made 3D prints or foam mod to get a higher FOV.

Has any company released a face gasket for G2 or is it still '3D print it yourself' only?

@@volv Normally self print but you can send the files to any online 3D print companies and they send you the printed part but it's more expensive.

I'm actually enjoying WMR, the desktop pop in games is handy as hell. I'd recommend everyone get FFPSVR, easy way to check stats.

@@ivanteece There's just one thing that is annoying. No height adjustment when you are inside a game. You have to exit to start the ground level app. And setting the boundaries with the headset instead of controllers is outdated.

I received mine yesterday, plugged it in and got a bluescreen. That keeps happening so that's nice, haven't been able to do a thing with it yet

Loving it. Although it does work in the dark except Z-Axis. They should have added the same sensor to this too as it seems to be cutting corners. We now need moulds for Controllers to use Gunstocks in ONWARD. This also will keep Tracking in view better. Needs Hardware Audio Enhancement to boost volume by Loudness EQ. DCS is quiet without this. Do not HOTPLUG this as it has a Power Box which can short it so switch this off first! Batteries DO NOT DRAIN QUICK. It's a false Windows Report. However you can use 1.6V 2500mAh. DIRT RALLY 2 is NOT WMR. You must be using REVIVE. It's never was good in VR. ONLY DCS requires set SteamVR SS Per Eye=50%. ONLY ELITE:D requires G2 set 60Hz for Combat in Hazres to not stutter. Best FOV by loosen straps and surround ball of head then pull front down to close gap.

Hey thanks for the comment. What did you mean Dirt Rally is not WMR must be using Revive? Are you saying you run Dirt Rally with Revive to run the Oculus version instead of Steam? Regarding the do not hot plug, I presume you mean follow the sequence of plugging in the device as per the sheet of paper HP included in the box.

Literally had high Hope's for this headset but realized it's just not finished , with a brand new x570 mb , ryzen 5000 cpu and amd gpu it just doesn't recognize it.even after all the troubleshooting it should work out the box ,If it did then good but its bs .

My extension cables weren't powered but they were inline with the HP powered breakout box.

I don't start WMR manually, it loads up automatically when I turn the headset on. My point it is, similar to Oculus Home, it's another portal system. On the Valve Index, all you need is Steam VR and that's it.

The price of the HP Reverb G2 should be a little cheaper, I also have the Rift S and Quest 2, I don't notice any difference with the screen resolution and fov on the HP Reverb G2 compared to the Rift S and Quest 2, the G2 is a good headset and everything but I think I prefer the Quest 2 with the Elite Strap because of the headset being more comfortable to wear and the Elite Strap really helps making the fov bigger alot by adjusting the knob on the back of the strap as it brings the lenses closer to your eyes, Oculus software is more stable and reliable to run most games than the Windows Mixed Reality software, hopefully future software updates for the G2 will fix some of the issues with running some of the Steam vr and Oculus games, I just think the Quest 2 is better and it has more features with it being a wireless standalone vr headset and does more than the G2, the Quest 2 will probably be my daily driver for now, I am glad I kept my Rift S as a backup headset also just in case if I ever need it

@@stagrov8086 yes it is cheaper, Quest 2 with Elite Strap and Link cable comes to around $527 plus tax, so maybe around $540 with shipping depending on where you live, the HP Reverb G2 is $599 plus tax and shipping, again depending on where you live, after tax and shipping, maybe around $640 or more, they really get you with the taxes and shipping

The 256 GB Q2 costs 449 € in Europe, plus 99€ Link cable and 50€ elite strap. So a total of 598€ for the Q2. Plus your data

I'm not convinced that's actually true, but even if it is, I think HP should have taken the approach Oculus have with the Quest and provided a shallow face gasket with an additional spacer in the box for those who wear glasses. As a result, I've got a face cover ordered to try and make my own shallower face gasket.

You will need that PC with either headset for SIM racing. The Quest 2 at $300 is also heavily subsidised by a Facebook data tax, some might not be willing to pay. I like my Quest 2 as an all-round VR headset. The G2 is really targeted for SIM'ers.

@@HamVR Ok, good points. I wasn't aware the quest 2 could be used with pc. Thanks for the info. I just got my G2 a few days ago but only had a few hours with it before I left for xmas. Using it mainly for flight sims, star wars squadrons at the moment. Heading back home today, can't wait to get back to it. Getting the windows/steam/in game settings just right is a real pain, though.
