HP Victus 15L Gaming PC Lets Max the GPU out! RTX 3070 Upgrade & How To!

Just did a bit of testing with limiting my 3060Ti to 1350mhz or so, with a slight undervolt. In Final Fantasy 15's benchmark, it gets a score of about 7800 in 1080p High, which is basically identical to a RX6600 (And maybe a 2060), and very slightly behind a GTX1080. While using 85-100 watts. Plus my 11700F underclocked to 3.0ghz at 30-50w, CPU+GPU combined uses less power than a stock GTX1080... (And system power draw might be similar to the 1080 alone, but I don't have a watt meter) From a Japanese benchmark the 6600 is running at 100w (And looks like it is only the GPU core and not the whole card), and a RTX3050 gets a score of 6700 while using 130 watts. It shows how the need for smaller chips to increase yield harm the power efficiency. (A 130w 3060ti also performs about 40-50% better than a 3050...) So if you have the money, you can often go for a higher end card and underclock to save more power than getting a weak one. (Just avoid GDDR6X) The RTX3070 and AMD's 6700XT or higher is going to be some of the most power efficient GPUs, if you underclock. Idle power draw may be a few watts higher due to more VRAM chips though.

Thanks for the video. I purchased this Victus 15L and it arrives at the end of the month. Receiving the basic Ryzen 5 5600G with 1660 SUPER model with 256GB NVME and 8 GB DDR4-3200 MHz RAM. I am looking to upgrade RAM and add a SATA SSD. However, all 16 GB DDR4-3200 MHz RAM kits I find at Best Buy and Amazon run at 1.35V. In your previous video, you mentioned we should use 1.2V. Would these kits work? In addition, if I purchase a SATA SSD, do I need to purchase an additional SATA cable to connect it to the motherboard? I cannot install an additional NVME SSD while keeping the 256GB NVME SSD it comes with, correct? Thanks!

Correct, yes you may need to buy a cable. you can swap the driver for a larger one then reinstall win 10. Amazon or Newegg for ram.

i have a victus with i7 12700k and i up[grasded to 32 gb ddr4 ram make sure its not the fancy gaming ram becuse hp has xmp locked and ram only runs at the default speeds i upgraqded my rtx 3050 to a 4060 and installed 2 more sata ssdls with the extra slots in the motherboard i also made sure to get the 500wx80 psu so if iu want any future gpu upgrades i will be able toio

You can also use Ryzen Master for overclocking the 5600G - I had some old 2400mhz ram laying around since I bought the base model victus w/ the 3060 ti, and Ryzen Master let me throw it up to 2666 no problem.

I think it would go over 80 degrees. (Might depend on your climate though) Adding a fan would help with the heat and cool down the case surface as well. You can also undervolt and/or set it to about 1750-1800mhz, then you get slightly over stock 3060Ti performance (default 60Ti will also heat up like the 70 in this case, so both will have slight throttling over a PC build's 60-70 degrees) but use like 150-160 watts, then you get all of decent thermals, not very hot case surfaces and more than enough power to game for maybe 5+ years. In my TG01 I run a 60Ti at 140 watts, and circa 1800mhz. 75 degrees or so even with Hong Kong's weather (probably 28 degrees air temperature before I use air conditioning)

The psu would be the problem I think The TDP for the Ti is much higher.

The 70Ti is stretching it in power draw. Mainly because 8x1GB GDDR6X chips alone can use 40-50 watts or so. It is going to stress the power supply while you don't get much more over the 3070. (And if you power limit it to 3070's TDP, the GPU cores will be fed with less power than a 3070 simply because of the VRAM drawing a lot of power) Edit: Maybe more than 50 watts even. Pretty sure a 3090 with 12x2GB chips need circa-100 watts. 70Ti has eight 1GB chips, so it might scale to 65-75 watts too...

There IS a 700w psu that HP makes custom for this range of PC's but it's like $160, so...probably not worth it. 3070 is the max for now.

Hi! I have a question regarding the TE01 Hp Envy Series. I was just wondering if the PSU model (L05757-800--) is the only PSU I could pair with the AMD 6700 XT. I can leave the door off to fit another if needed i'm just a little strapped for cash at the moment and was wondering if I could perhaps pair a dedicated PSU to the GPU somehow instead of replacing the pre-existing 180w PSU. I was also wondering if the heat sink that you used for the CPU was entirely necessary and if I could use an alternative if not. Yes you can use a External PSU just for the GPU you would want a 24pin power button cable to turn it on. just make sure the external psu is on 1st

Well I live in Alaska so the desktop definitely does not run super hot lol, if your room isn't too warm you will be fine, but if you want the best cooling you can still mod it later there are a lot of tutorials on KZbin for this model. I am happy with it so far as it's the best pre-built that you can get with that price, great buy!

Sorry, no XMP support. Having a dual-channel RAM kit at a fast speed is better than a single one at a higher speed. Also, CL is imported here and is not seen as a CL 22 ram vs a CL 16 Ram. The CL 16 ram is faster.

Does yours have a pcie 3x4 or 4x4 m.2 slot? Pcie 4x16 or 3x16 for the gpu slot? The AMD version came with a 3x2 slot for m.2 and 3x16 for gpu...not as advertised.

Pretty sure the intel one is PCIe4 And the AMD is PCIe4 as well. at least from my spec sheet. I will need to install hardware info and look to see what the GPU and M.2 are running at. But in the grand scheme you will not notice a different from one or the other on this PC. for gaming or even editing. at least with the setup it is in. it is not like you can connect a U.2 or another m.2 to transfer to. Even unseeing a USB-C driver plug in, you would not be able to saturate it past 3.0 speeds. The only thing I would be worried about would be can we get 100% utilization out of both the m.2 and GPU and to answer to that it is yes.

@@TNW1337 both slots on AMD one are PCIE3. 3x2 in fact for the m.2 slot, which absolutely cripples NVMe SSDs - half bandwidth is no joke. GPU isn't bottlenecked just annoying that their specs are incorrect. I made enough noise that they sent me an Envy te02 so I'm fine, but anyone with a Victus and a nice SSD will be out of luck.

I was able to buy 16gb 8×2 used samsung ddr4 3200mhz ram for 50$ which works perfectly with the acer mob and stock Kingston ram. Now I have 28gb running at 3200mhz, adding a cooler master front case fan tomorrow while I wait and research cpu coolers further

i had a 3060 in mine it will fit fine i puraded to a 4060 because zotac makes the solo fan version which fits perfectly snug in the case i cant perform many games in 4k with the 8gb vram limitation but its usually ok if i drop the settings down in 1080p and 1440p i can pretty much max out anything but id reccomnd the zotac rtx 4060 solo or the rtx 3060 12gb solo if u have a 4k monitor and want to ball on a budget if u play in 1440p id reccomend the 4060 it has less vram but dlss 3.5, frame generation more cuda cores and a higher clock speed so in most games a 20-30% performance increase bur in 4k it actuaslly can perform worse as vram leaks into system memory at high resolutions

Its possible, but its not worth it if it isnt from HP. Its very difficult if youre like me and you dont know much about power supplies. I tried use a 650w psu with it, but it was missing a cable for the motherboard. So you should go with the HP 500w, i did and the hp one worked perfectly.

For a starter PC Hp are not bad. Only problem is When hps go on sale you pretty much can not build it for the same price. They had a Ryzen 5 5000 with 16GB 3200MT and 3060Ti for $900. Tell me you could find it cheaper.
