Really informative series of videos on the maverick strada, 1 question reference the Diffs Did you change the diff oils and if so what weight oil did you use? I can't see anywhere in your videos where you mention diff maintance, I've just picked up 2 strada's and 1 I have already converted to almost the same as yours, I've installed a 3670 2500 kv motor but I'll be sticking to 3s. 👍

Aluminium diff cases fixed my problems with stripping gears on the diffs, i can recommend them
@budgetrccars93855 жыл бұрын
I knew you could get Alloy diff cases but thought I had seem them once a while ago for £25+ but you can can actually get them for under £10 so if I have anymore problems I will order one for the rear to try. Thankyou! 👍

Hi thanks for all the great info on here I’ve ordered the goolrc motor to try myself cheers and will work through getting the rest for it. I bought mine second hand and just realised that it’s only driving on the two rear wheels. Are you able to give me some pointers on what to check for to get it back to 4 wheel drive please?
@budgetrccars93854 жыл бұрын
Hey, you need to check you have all the dog bones in place. (google dog bone shaft if you don't know what they are) There are five in total, two on the rear going to each wheel, one long dog bone going down the centre and two at the front going to both fronts wheels. If all are in place then check the drive cups at each end of the centre drive shaft. The drive cups have a small grub screw on one side and you may find that the screw on the front drive cup is loose but check both front and rear. If that is not the problem then it could be the front diff but the diff's in these trucks are quite tough so there could be parts missing if the diff is the problem. To test if tightening the drive cup helped hold one rear wheel tight and turn the other rear wheel by hand. The front wheels should then turn.

Budget RC Cars thank for your quick and informative reply 👍 You were spot on it had one front dog bone missing. I’ve got it back on 4 wheel drive now cheers well happy. Did you try the brushless motor on the NiHM battery? I was wondering if I could get away with sticking with NiHM.
@budgetrccars93854 жыл бұрын
Yes you can use NiMh batteries with no problem on a brushless setup. In the future when you can afford to I would buy LiPo batteries and a charger but make sure you read up on the dangers of LiPo batteries so you know how to handle them safely. Glad you managed to fix your 4WD issue 👍

Can you explain what you have done to upgrade your batteries from Nickel Metal Hydride
@budgetrccars93854 жыл бұрын
To change the batteries you just buy LiPo batteries. If you are running the stock brushed esc and motor setup then you will need 7.4v 2s LiPo battery with a Tamiya connector. If you have upgraded to a brushless esc and motor then you can run either 7.4v 2s or 11.1v 3s LiPo batteries (depending on the Kv and rpm of the motor) with a (very likely) Deans connector. You'll also need a new battery charger. Let me know what you setup you have in your truck and I can advise 👍😊

@@budgetrccars9385 Thanks for the videos, I have the Evo S model so a brushless motor comes standard so no upgrade there but the rest I am essentially copying yours, for now however going to stick to NiMH as lipo balance chargers are expensive.
@budgetrccars93854 жыл бұрын
I think your truck's esc has HXT connectors and I believe you can only use 7.4v 2s LiPo batteries. The chargers are expensive at around £35 and so are the batteries at around £20-25 but they are worth it and worth saving up for. You can charge a battery in an hour and they run at full power until flat. Even though a LiPo and a NIMH battery are both 7.4v the Lipo has more of a kick and will give the car a higher top speed (1-2mph at most but noticable.)

@@budgetrccars9385 Yeah cheers for all the help, I will look into it along with new motors once I have the current mods on, also in hindsight would you say a faster but less powerful servo is the way to go?
@budgetrccars93854 жыл бұрын
Sorry missed this reply but probably too late now however I would go with the fastest and most powerful servo your budget will allow. I went slow and powerful just because I wanted the truck to turn in long grass.

Cheapest price is here but they come from China and you may get import fees as they are over £15 kzbin.info?event=comments&stzid=Ugy_Gb22Ok6OWABfXjN4AaABAg.97RcqzpwX1x97a6QcYREfo&redir_token=BThBYRqc-7PXwE1Q5mJO4kTrpXh8MTU4OTk2MDU1NkAxNTg5ODc0MTU2&q=https%3A%2F%2Fuk-m.banggood.com%2F4PCS-Wheel-Rim-Tires-HSP-110-Monster-Truck-RC-Car-12mm-Hub-88005-p-1072827.html%3FgmcCountry%3DGB%26currency%3DGBP%26cur_warehouse%3DCN%26createTmp%3D1%26Dgoogleshopping%26Dcpc_bgcs%26Dlijing%26Dpla-gbg-all-rm-perchase-0326-mb%26ad_id%3D427936933870%26gclid%3DCj0KCQjwyur0BRDcARIsAEt86IAFgnqzaeKPTVQ6-xeN6uNnNfPc3l2xdAV0cY1h6lU4s_Yjv-6txAMaAv3pEALw_wcB&html_redirect=1

Hey buddy, any clue what brushless motor and esc will do this??? Thanks!
@budgetrccars93854 жыл бұрын
If you want to run 2s and 3s LiPo then you will need a 3660 sized motor under 4000kv and an ESC which is either 60 or 80amp. If you want to run 2s, 3s and 4s LiPo's then you'll need a 3670 sized motor 2000-2500kv and an ESC which is 120amps. Start off with 2s LiPo and work your way up so you get used to the power. Most of the chinese brand motor and esc combo's are good and I use the GoolRC and OCDay branded ones. You can find these on Ebay and Amazon, they are cheap and take the abuse well but don't expect them to be water proof even though they state they are.
