HPI Maverick Strada EVO MT Part 8: Alloy Hub and Hub Carrier Upgrade

The screws for the hubs were coming loose far too often on front of the Maverick Strada MT so I have now upgraded them to Alloy parts.

The alloy parts cost £11.85 and I bought mine from ebay. Here is an example of a similar listing as the ebayer I purchased from sold out:

Since the upgrade and having used the truck a few times I've had to add a very small amount of loctite to the hub screws as they were starting to work loose.

Excellent, been looking at this for mine. I'm with you buddy, if i can keep plastic i do. I rag mine senseless but its only 2S lipo on a 3650.

These trucks are still quick even on 2s. I use mine on 2s mostly as I'm usually bashing it in a small area, 3s is great when running in open space. An update on this since having now run the truck a bit is that I did have to use the smallest amount of loctite on the hub screws as they did work lose. I should add this to the description 👍

I hope you don't! I try not to change things if there is not a problem but as the cost of replacement plastic hubs is not a lot less than alloy I though I would give them a try. I prefer to run plastic parts on RC cars because I prefer the flex of plastic over metal.

Great video again!! Does this upgrade solve the horrible wheel wobble due to space between hex pin and hub bearing?

I believe I put a washer between the bearing and pin to reduce wheel wobble. The alloy hubs were a pain to get right tbh and in my opinion I would recommend replacing bearings to reduce wobble that way. All cars seem to suffer wheel wobble to some degree and as long as the car is still driveable then try to live with it 🤣

@@budgetrccars9385 thanks for your reply. I've found some possible replacement parts on AliExpress that ship with bearings also. Maybe I'll get those. Wheel wobble is such a silly thing to have to out up with TBH considering the amount of precision engineering that goes into the car parts.

My parts just arrived...I'm busy doing this upgrade. The brushless upgrade was sooooo worth it!! This car is awesome to drive again. I'm running it with into one set of shocks all round and it handles so much better. Just go easy on the jumps
