It is most appreciated that your reviews contain " Heads Up " honest information. This very enjoyable and rewarding hobby can be expensive to get into... price of kits, accessories, tools,etc. The hobby acrylics are more than affordable , and like the ink for your printer your gonna find out that you could be purchasing a lot of paint. If someone buys a product like the paint mentioned only to find much more is needed to even use it, it hurts the pursuit of their new hobby. Discouraging! Thank You and I hope newcomers to the hobby take notice and do their research. ie. Watch your channel and others as informative.

Looks great Chris! You got to love those craft paints, cheap, easy to use and give good results. I use what ever paints, that get me the look I'm going for. Nice Job!

I see a lot of Takom military kits, but have yet to try one. I love the effects you got on the tires. They look like they're been down a dusty road.

Great video Chris! I have a couple Takom kits. Very high part count. I like this kit...great build...nicely done. Thanks for sharing. Really looks fun to do. I have only done one tank before. I can't agree more about the paint. Great review!...

I noticed you don't use alot of the fancy shmancy paints but paints you can easily get from walmart.......how do you prepare those paints for use in your airbrush or for brush painting models? The work you do looks like you used the expensive paints.
@hpiguy
@hpiguy 5 жыл бұрын
I have nothing against model paints aside from price, but I do use them on a good amount of stuff. I brush craft paints directly from the bottle, for spraying I dilute them 50/50 with Windex and adjust as needed.

May I ask did you brush paint or airbrush the clear green on the windows? I have trouble with brush painting because of streaks and a very strong colour tone (that goes beyond a tint), whilst airbrushing them makes them frosty and near impossible to see through.
@hpiguy
@hpiguy 6 жыл бұрын
Brushed. Diluted Tamiya clear green with Tamiya thinner and it went on nicely.

One of these done on a Siberian swamp diorama with the wheels berried halfway up would be bloody awesome. Cool review by the way. May have to ge this kit and attempt a diorama. Love Kamaz and Ural trucks, they a about as bullet proof as you can get.

I have this stunning kit and I am thinking about using it in a zombie diorama. You made a great job of the kit, I use Mission Models paints for single colour vehicles but different brands for fine camouflage...

Did you have any trouble with the troop compartment bulkhead wall, the one with the consoles on it? I've had to trim a big piece of the base of that off to get the upper hull to fit on, unfortunately.
@hpiguy
@hpiguy 6 жыл бұрын
No, but it did take very careful lining up to get it all to fit together like it should. It wasn't super easy but it did slide together. I had to make sure it was fully seated on the first half to get it down far enough.
@foabmoab
@foabmoab 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah its a bit fiddly. Not helped but not being able to see it properly when the hull is slid into place. Thanks for the reply :)
@hpiguy
@hpiguy 6 жыл бұрын
You are correct. If it's not lined up the upper hull rocks back and forth, high in the center. That's why I recommended the kits for advanced folks like you and I, a beginner would go nuts lining that stuff up.

I just discovered your channel a couple weeks ago, and have really been enjoying your model builds and reviews. Especially the trucks! Your personality and insight really sets your videos apart from most other channels I've seen. I'm looking to start building my first model soon. You mentioned that Tamiya and Hasegawa are good companies to buy kits from. Do you recommend any other model makers that you think are good for a beginner to start with (as far as easy of assembly goes)?
@hpiguy
@hpiguy 6 жыл бұрын
Tamiya is top notch. Bandai is 1st rate if you like Star Wars and Gundam. For cars the latest releases by AMT and Revell are nice kits and not expensive.

@lesthiele4921

If you are looking at armour, I would say Tamiya would be a very good start for, Hasagawa are good for aircraft, Tamiya do 1/35 and 1/48th scale and of course they do aircraft as well, good luck witb what ever you choose, best regards from Australia.

This is on display at a hobby shop currently, but just take the dimensions of the real one which you can find easily online and divide by 35 to get the model size.

It's a good work, well done. But TAKOM have small problem with detailing. I recommend change wheels to resin "DEF Models", PE parts from "Microdesign" from russia. I don't recommend PE from chienise Voyager. Takom hase forgotten add exhaust tube on this model =)

second look brother and you are right that those mission models paint lay and settle finish was to be honest totally shit....your finish was far better....stay with your normal paints brother...i will not be buying mission model paints that i can promise you lmao......
@hpiguy
@hpiguy 6 жыл бұрын
Well, I don't want to trash talk the paint brand but I won't be buying more myself since you have to use their specific expensive thinner and poly system to get it to work right. Tamiya, craft paints, testors can all be thinned and used with regular thinners or water or alcohol, etc and come out perfect.
@madshagg1
@madshagg1 6 жыл бұрын
if you need all those extra products to make and use those paints then you have not got your product right in the first place...never see tamiya or vallejo(???) need anything special to work correctly so i cannot be supportive of mission models when their product,requires so much additional attention that should not be a requirement at all......but you made a tidy kit in the end by sticking with what you know and through much experience pull the truck from the fire as such lol........
