Nice job. I had one purty much just like it back in the 80's, but came with the Kenworth aerodyne sleeper. Hood cab & sleeper were molded in metallic silver & came with orange decal stripes to put on the side. It also came with the V-8 mechanical air to air Caterpillar diesel engine. i painted every single detail imaginable on my KW, including all interior detail . Left all the chrome parts chrome. I didnt see a chrome deck plate behinde the sleeper, nor did i see a "pogo stick" to hang up the trailer air lines & the trailer ligh power cord. Overall, a very nice job on this kit. I love REVEL kits because their attention to detail on every single part, no matter the size, is extremely detailed. Whats even better than the kits is driving the real thing. . . .10-4! Take care & God bless.

I can see building this kit as the snowman's truck from smokey and the bandit
@dennycelestinohybridspecies11 ай бұрын
I think I might get this kit to pose as my Snowman Bandit #2 tractor, and maybe use the sleeper leftover from the A M T kit that just wasn't easy to put together. And when I did get most of it together, it seemed like it was just a bad kit or it came from a bad mold with holes and pins that were barely there, and a lot of twisted parts where I had to do a lot of fabricating and work. By the time I got it to a frame and chassis with wheels, it was just so dilapidated it started to just come apart. I have the aerodyne version of this kit but it's a one piece cabin sleeper i'll use that for another build probably like a flatbed tractor since I got resin kit tool boxes and chains and stuff tie downs. I already like how this kit looks with great molded pieces similar to the aerodyne kenworth I got but a heck of a lot more detail for sure! It's a lot cleaner is the best way I can describe it, whereas the AMT kit I ended up accidentally cutting parts because you couldn't tell where the mold ended or start it. Already got the rear end tandems built for the trailer, and I really wanted a tractor to be ready to put underneath it and this looks like a killer kit.
@dennycelestinohybridspecies11 ай бұрын
I just saw your comment as I just added mine. I got everything, the decal kit is almost 50 Bucks alone, the trailer I think was like 30 and I already built the rear end tires everything's together I'm gonna put a wooden floor down I got out of balsa wood, and I'm gonna do a diorama of the Bandit driving the Trans Am out of the trailer. I already got the Bandit 1# Trans Am as well, but that AMT Kenworth kit wasn't so great at least it wasn't for me. Me and my dad built a similar AMT kit when I was a kid, it was shown as the Movin' On tractor but we just painted it up custom for ourselves but I remember a funny conversation where my dad kept saying it was a double sleeper or a sit in sleeper, and I thought remembered it as not, until I saw reruns like in 2017 four years after my dad passed on. It made me giggle at the same time a little sad saying yep dad was right he was a trucker and I was a trucker and that show and then Smokey and the Bandit really changed our model building as well as our trucking lives. I would DEFINITELY build Sonny Pruitt's Kenworth with this kit for SURE!!!

I recently saw this same kit in our local HobbyTown USA store and considered buying it to make a replica of Sonny Pruitt's truck, from the old TV show called Movin' On. This kit would actually be more accurate than the model kit that used to be available that was actually supposed to be the Movin' On truck. That kit had a smaller sleeper, different front bumper, and I think a few other discrepancies.

Love the builds and reviews. Honor grad from an auto and diesel technology program. One of our instructors ('79 thru '81) stressed that motors had windings, and engines had cylinders. Charlie Mike --- Paccar's 379'd and W 9's have been favorites. Have had the privilege of working in several class 8 assembly plants in my travels. Also really like most of the early workhorses, railroad locomotives, aircraft, construction equipment, Lakers, and salties. New stuff just can't begin to compare in any arena.

Thanks to you, I went out and bought my first car kit a few months ago: an AMT '69 Plymouth GTX convertible. With the lockdown, I've really got stuck into building it, using products that you recommend, including the Rustoleum paints, silver (and gold) Sharpies and the Molotow Chrome pens. A couple of days ago, I used the Rustoleum Flat Gray Primer on the GTX's bodywork, and have just finished spraying a top coat of Rustoleum's Colonial Red: to say the least - wow! The Colonial Red has covered extremely well, without obscuring fine detail and is looking spectacular, with a deep gloss, maroon finish. Once I mask and paint the sills black, and complete the brightwork I am going to have one swe-e-eet model. Thanks for the inspiration...you've hooked me.

I really like this kit alot,BUT, I would have to cut that so-called curtain area off, to either make it a true walk in sit in sleeper, or make it a real functioning curtain. The way it seems that the walk in/sit in sleeper mounts it's a shame to not actually have it be functional and look more realistic. I definitely wanna get this kit maybe two like I said in a couple of other comments I would like to make a full on Sonny Pruitt Movin' On tractor, and I am curious to see if I could make this kit work as Bandit #2 Snowman's Kenworth and Smokey and the Bandit. I found a couple of part trees from the AMT kit W925 and spare interiors with the short back seats in the short interior for the crawl in Sleeper. The Kenworth W900 Aerodyne Tractor 1:25 Scale Revell #85-1507 -Model Kit is the aerodyne one I have, and now that I look at that kit, I believe I can do what I am mentioning to that kit with the AMT cab and small bunk, on the Revell Kit. I looked in the box and it already has a very short wheelbase and I never actually put the cab parts together from the AMT kit, so maybe I'll make a video and see if this conversion works maybe with a little bit of scrap styrene parts to make a cab brace. Thanks for what you do, this build inspired me to get these kits I haven't finished done when my arms are feeling better. I have rheumatoid arthritis and degenerative disk disease so bad I can barely do too much which includes playing guitar and working on my bicycle as well.

"the hardest part about model truck kits is the mirrors!" ...So I take it I'm the only one who suffers with AMT's Suspensions?...I mean just doing the White Western Star's rear set nearly made me ram my head through the wall lol (also the motor mounts...they needed a LOT of shaving and chopping to allow the engine to properly fit) great vid as always, and amazing results! @jack002tuber4 жыл бұрын
I saw that too. I wonder how hard that would be to fabricate
@fredandkit4 жыл бұрын
@@jack002tuber Hello, it would not be very hard to do just take a small rod and a small plate some thin hoses curled up and that is about it. Maybe make a tiny spring out of thin wire wrapped around a axel from a car kit with some thin wire to hold the hoses and attach it to the top of the shaft. About 1/16 thick would work. The hoses would go under the sleeper or under the cab.

Trucks made much past the eighties don't have em. Calle hose-tenna (don't know why) most truckers called em pogo sticks. I've driven trucks from a1980 to a 2006 and never had one. Plus,when they break from vibrations,turning to sharp and snapping it off with the trailer,most guys just put those long hanger springs on the hoses A lot of the kits for older trucks come with them.

Nice build. I just ordered this kit myself, a few days ago, so it’s a great primer to let me know what I’m getting into. I haven’t built a model since the 80s, when I was a teen, but I always loved the hobby. Sheltering in place has inspired me to get back into it. I’ve spent the last 27 years driving the full size versions of these things for a living, including many years spent in 4 different W900 KWs. My only critique (constructive, I hope) of your build is your choice in painting the stacks, wheels and tanks in the duller aluminum hue. The stacks on a W900 are usually stainless steel or chrome plated, but not aluminum, so they’re generally always “shiny,” unless the whole rig is dirty and dusty. Some customizers have powder-coated them black for an “outlaw” appearance, which would leave them looking flat or satiny. The tanks and wheels can look dull, as they’re made of aluminum and do get oxidized over time. Most drivers consider this to be an undesirable look and keep them polished to a mirror-like finish on the more customized owner/operator versions like the one you’ve built here. Many of them opt to paint the tanks body or frame colored to tie them into a certain look and avoid the labor involved in maintaining the polished look. Same with the rims, though most drivers tend to keep them polished, as opposed to painting them, and some rim manufacturers (Alcoa, for example) have developed a special “durabrite” coating that prevents the rims from getting dull and oxidized, and keeps them shiny with normal washing and rinsing. Please forgive me for this nitpicking, but you do some fantastic builds and I just wanted to give you the perspective of someone who’s dealt with these magnificent machines on an intimate and daily basis. I know from my own modeling experience, that accuracy to reality was always a goal in automotive builds. I can’t wait to see this coupled to the car-hauling trailer; truckers refer to those rigs as “parking lots.” It should look great on that tractor.

3408 pulling cars, shouldn’t have many slow up hills. Tappercombey, you’re right about the chrome stacks. And Durabrite wheels, man they saved hours of polishing but didn’t show quite the high shine. The gullwing bumper by KW from about 1974 or 75 was, my estimation best design on the road. Yes, this is a VG model review and build video, thanks hpiguys!

The engine looks like a Detroit Diesel It should be painted Detroit green. I’ve owned a few of them including Cat and Cummings. You build super models. Wished I was as good as you. The best.

Yes, nice kit, but the Revell mould defect was not corrected: the foot step shifted forward, partially under the air filter, and the bumper too advanced compared to the grille.

I'm getting back into plastic and I have to say I like your building ethos and painting style. I'm adding some of your painting skills to my data base. Could you do the Godzilla JGSDF Jeep. Looks like a return of the Hogans Heroes jeep. Great kit.

Did that many months ago when it first came out, with the cardboard diorama, just search the home page for godzilla jeep. Thanks!

@@hpiguy saw the jeep review. I'm going to convert one into a jeepney that used to drive up and down perimeter road outside Clark Air Base in the 80s.

Looks very sharp. Nice tips from you to build a truck. Wish me the old 359 Peterbilts from Revell in 1:25 with this nice details the kenworth W900 have back. The 359 in 1:16 from Revell isn't a good made option (Revell built it from the company Monogram and doesn't design it themself).

Geezum Crow, that is very sexy! So you did give me a great idea on another vid; black primer for a metallic base coat. So with this in mind, metallic jade green for my Movin' On modernization. This is on the other Revell W-900 with AeroSleeper and aftermarket green arrows and stripes. Awesome build... As usual!

Nice looking model.🤩 Do you wash the parts before you prime/paint them? That’s something I learned to do back in high school...breaks down some of the oils so that they’re easier to paint. I love the use of the marker to accent the doors and mud flap hangers. Good job! I’ve cut the curtain, detailed the sleeper and added lights. Just another step to adding an extra dimension to the model. I’ve even drilled holes into the fifth wheel, added a pin so I can move it to make it more realistic. Good thought on placing the murals on the back of the sleeper! Have you ever stretched the frame on a model? How does sanding the tires work for you? I love the 1/16th scale much better...you can do more with them, but they don’t have many of those around right there now.🥺Thanks for sharing!🤩

I've covered how I prep and paint models in other videos. I usually only build from the box, the companies that send kits for review don't want me going too far and confusing buyers that will expect to see stuff in a kit that isn't there. Thanks for watching!
