Brings back great memories of a time in this country when things were so much more innocent. Sadly, the world we live in today is eons removed from that time.

@@mikeyoungblood94 All I said was that this was a time when things were more "innocent." You replied: "Not for everyone... now if you were a white guy, then sure." So... you are saying non-whites were NOT innocent back then? What a terrible thing to say.
our Grammie, God bless her heart, would play this for us four grandkids when we were very small & we'd all dance & sing in the dining room. good memories!

Farewell to the talented Carleton Carpenter who has passed away at the age of 95. He acted on stage and screen like the likes of Debbie Reynolds, Judy Garland, Gene Kelly, Mary Martin, and more. He was also a successful composer, singer, dancer, and author. His works will live on - may he rest in peace.

I feel exactly like you. I was 7 when this came out but I didn't see it until I was like 10 or 11. I loved the song and the film, my granny's world was depicted but our world was wholesome and much better. (Sigh) I introduced this song today to my 50 y.o. son and he enjoyed it. He gets it and laughs, but he liked it, it put a smile in his face, not like today's noise (sorry, can't call it music). I was telling him how different our world was.

Too bad it's ALWAYS BEEN TERRIBLE. Maybe not for you at that time but humanity will always suffer no matter what. Which is why it's always good to look for the good in the bad

@@benjistida007our shared history would indicate that indeed humanity has always known suffering... Or perhaps it was Pandora's doing? One of our purest ways of joining together is to find hope amongst those who believe humanity is strong enough to face anything that comes our way. We are ALL one and one has the power to SEE ALL.

If I were that close to the girl’s face at 1:31 - 1:36 singing that, I feel like I would start laughing. I wonder if these two had a hard time not trying to break and they had to rehearse enough so it wouldn't be funny.

To the left of Debbie the lad with the fake uke looked down the barrel of the lens about 9 times. I'm amazed the director didn't throw his ass of the set. The Cardinal rule of film making is never look down the lens unless it's in the script, the fourth wall.
