THANK YOU for highlighting that Mexico team. Everyone talks about this current team being their worst ever, and it IS bad but it’s not even close to 1978’s embarrassment.

Stats may say 2002, as France didn’t score unlike in 2010, but 2010 left a much, much bigger scar on the French game, so I would argue it was France's worst

Tbh, 2010 was the worst because of the scandal involving the France national football team. (i.e. players refusing to train, disagreements between the players and the coach, exclusions of players, etc.)

@@lexkanyima2195 If you don't know, France's preparations for the 2002 World Cup was hampered by Zinedine Zidane's unlikely fitness. The club where Zidane played, Real Madrid, had to play in the Champions League Final only 16 days before the opening match of the World Cup between France and Senegal (of which, Zidane scored one of the best goal in the competition's history). It was reported that Zidane picked up an injury that left him out for the first two group games involving France. By the time Zidane was played for the last group game against Denmark, the damage has already done for France, and Zidane himself was unable to show his good performance when the Danes knocked them 2-0.

@@kevinjuarez9252 I'm pointing out that France's disastrous World Cup in 2010 was truly deserved. The qualification stages was also quite underwhelming. They only made through the tournament after beating Republic of Ireland by the way of Thierry Henry's infamous handball.

I know, but Brazil was even shocking. They weren't the same again after that 1-7. Worst off all, they could miss out the World Cup for the first time if we looked at their results in recent qualifiers.

The last match in the first round of 2006 wc between Tunisia and Ukraine was so controversial to the point it looks like the ref helped them to qualify to the second round, you can make a video about wc matches full of ref faults like Italy and south Korea

11:01 While Germany's 2018 World Cup exit was statistically the worst performance for the country in the World Cup, this country also got their disastrous World Cup back in 1938. At that time, the tournament was also a complete knockout format, as you mentioned in this video. Germany faced Switzerland at that time. The game ended 1-1 draw, so a replay was required to separate both teams, and Switzerland won 4-2. Interestingly enough, that was the only time Switzerland had advanced past the first knockout round of the World Cup (though they did reached the quarterfinals of Euros 2020 and 2024).

Scotland's 7-0 loss to Uruguay remains our worst defeat to this day. I'd like to think that despite how poor we've been in the last 15 years, we'll never see a result like that again

Brazil's worst-ever WC performance wasn't in 1966. It was in 1934, when there was no group stage. Brazil fell to Spain in the 1st round, 3:1, finishing placed 14th. In 1966, Brazil finished 11th.

Argentina just got back to the World Cups in the '58 one since they didn't participate in the previous four or five editions, not because they couldn't clasificate, but because differences with Fifa and other varied reasons ended up with they quitting every time As good as they consistanly are, they where literally decades behind in that tournament

I'd argue that Japan's worst tournament would be 2014 instead of 1998. Yeah in 1998 they lost all of their games, but expectations were much lower and most players and fans were just happy to be at the WC for the first time. In 2014 expectations were higher with a strong and solid team, some even considered Japan dark-horses to win it all, in the end they finished bottom at the group with 2 losses and a tie with a 10-man team. It even was even considered a "pathetic" performance.

Gonna have to disagree about the U.S, our worst performance is 1998 where we only scored one goal and finished dead last in the entire tournament, plus the whole eric wynalda and john harkes controversy, in 1990 we scored 2 goals and finished 2nd to last, plus that was more of a "were just happy to be here" after qualifying for the first time in 40 years
