I’m not ISTP, but am a diagnosed HSP; -and believe me I always hated being one. For starters my extreme sensitivity to loud noises, unexpected pain, certain textures and certain smells, other people’s negative emotions caused me a lot of grief when I was a child; and still now as an adult tend to over stimulate me. My brothers used to make fun of it a lot, in which caused even more grief. I was just fortunate that I didn’t care what other people thought with my Ti hero. What I learned in learned from my psychology class that being an HSP is somehow correlated with being a deep introvert, in which I am. This makes sense to me as it seems to follow the pattern that introverts in general tend to get over stimulated by external stimuli, albeit not all introverts are as sensitive as myself.

How interesting. So "Fi demon" is engaged when an ISTP breaks down crying? As an ENFP HSP I cry very easily, but in 14 years that I've known my ISTP, he only cried a few times and it was very intense. At one time when a close friend of his moved overseas he just broke down for half an hour uncontrollably, and to this day says "I don't know why". He will often say that then start talking about memories, what he misses, shows me pictures. Seems like he goes into an Fi-Si loop? I always feel privileged to be there in such vulnerable moments where his care, love, fears and dreams, and values are manifest. Regarding their Ne - having been around me, he's become more enthusiastic using Ne. The other day I kept removing layers at the supermarket and he was acknowledging that I'm hot, but when I probed whether he was flirting with me he said "I implied both". We love to imagine all kinds of future fun and wacky things we will do together as we are both optimistic Ne. He greatly dislikes planning for negative what-ifs, but he's grown kind of used to me asking such questions and we just keep it short. After a year of living with me he went from oblivious to innuendo to almost always catching on and playing with me in that way, with puns too. Though he still does a lot of slapstick with his Se? (can a parent function be playful like that?), which is goofy and endearing. (Sorry, possibly wildly off-topic).

So does the "dreaming up potential possibilities" aspect of Ne come naturally, while the "anticipating people's intentions and motivations" aspect comes with practice and maturity?

Hello. Enfp here, am HSP who is also riddled with ADHD :) (hey other Adhers? yes, in this case the stereotype happens to be true) I am here exploring the notion of an HSP istp as I am dating an ISTP, and I only recently discovered his sensitive side (due to the tragic loss of our very young pet, a 5 month old kitten with a fatal illness). I had never seen him so much as tear up, and he was crying in front of me for the first time, I was crying all day, so it was mutual. Very heartbreaking. I was glad to see he does in fact have a heart. I joke a lot about him actually being a robot, he’s very stoic etc. So I am exploring some ideas. I’m not convinced he’s HSP at all, but it’s interesting to note the differences. But also, this has me thinking about RSD (rejection sensitive dysphoria) for anyone here who knows what that’s about… The typical signs of an HSP have a huge crossover with the signs of someone who experiences RSD. I’m not sure what point I’m making here, sorry lol but yeah, just making the connection. Maybe it will help someone. It helped me a lot to be self aware about this and learn to control my emotions reactions and ride the waves a lot better. And communicate with others. I’ve always been an HSP along with my mother and sister… discovering more about HSP and ADHD and RSD has been a game changer. If you’re interested, really dive deep into some of the literature and ask yourself the tough questions. Great info BTW.

So I just came from Chase's video on the UD|UF INFP. And I'm still processing it, but it sounded to me like they would be the most sensitive of all HSPs. Now with this video, I'm thinking that's definitely the case (except for maybe UD|UF ISTPs?).
@asheekitty9488 Жыл бұрын
People have different pain thresholds. That's more physiological than psychological. So the pain sensitivity is valid.
@Testfortest142 Жыл бұрын
Even more nuanced, there's a different sensitivity your body reacts to the input and also a different psychological sensitivity where it is the amount of value your mind puts to it.

I’ve been told I’m highly sensitive (to others reactions..and highly reactionary to others’ reactions and moods). Lol. I’m supposedly an ENTJ (or could be ENFP). 😅 I am sensitive to criticism also. And in touch with my Si comforts. I don’t care as much about hurting others feelings. What gives, Raka??

@@marytheraspberry3145 but optimistic Si presumably wouldn’t be so in touch with and sensitive to my creature comforts being violated? When I *actually* care to give others a good experience and perform (pessimistic Se not optimistic Se?), I pull out all stops but it does drain me and I need lots of time to Si recover. If I feel I’m poorly criticized (there is a right and wrong way to do so, of course) by someone who has no right to do so, I rage and check the other person…hard. And ohhh if someone threatens/tramples on something I hold near and dear to my heart (like my parenting or my relationship with my child), there will be holy hell to pay. (Could be Fi inferior values + Fe demon there). Like, justice will be served in those cases. I’m highly reactionary to others’ moods and bad vibes towards me…what is that function and what slot?
