What's even more underrated is their warranty program, no mention of it here. With Uh-Oh Protection, it comes straight with the phone no extra charge, you get a free replacement if you screwed your phone in any way within the 1st year, if not it's $100 off your next HTC! It also doesn't void when you root the phone!

Man I wouldn't say display is a problem, I do like AMOLED a lot more but HTC makes some of the best looking LCDs along with LG, which in turn makes Apple's lol.

As for availability I do agree. Here in Canada there're quite a few things that don't make it from the US. Though that is sadly the case with most companies since the market and media coverage is all in the US. What I believe still holds true in what I said, any sort of warranty from HTC doesn't void if you root, at least in Canada where we always get jealous at American offers haha.

just dont understand , got 10 before 3 months , got s7 before 1 month, familiar with both phones , htc executes samsung in daily use , camera advance on samsung is nit picking (beauty mode turned off on samsung , hate over processed images ) , and i swear after one month s7 started lagging (snapdragon model) not big of a deal but its still there , no lag with 10 what so ever , what i really liked on samsung is split screen use , s voice , on screen , everything else goes to 10 , in day to day usage ,you just cant beat 10 , ip 68 with samsung is great , but i my wife washed 10 thinking its water resistant like s7(shes wearing s7 ) and i never had any problems what so ever in last month , user experience is untouched on 10,audio is outstanding ,havent tried v20 either ,but flac files with hi res earbuds blows my mind , would like to try pixel , apple i just dont like so i cant say nothing about that since i live in 2nd part country , and they dont give a sh"#$% about poor market, sorry about big post but i just realized that not all reviews are for all people , should buy phones to your own preferences .Sticking with HTC 10, this phone delivers !!!

Awesome follow up on the audio. I'm loving my HTC 10. I have the V20 as well, traded in V10 for it. You are very correct on the louder AMP when connected to high impedance headphones. I noticed sound is "Fuller" on the V20 compared to the HTC 10. Also, majority of people don't run around with high impedance headphones (those are for "open back" home listening like my Senn HD598SE) as a portable units (most hover around 16-32ohms), but there are some people that do. My VE Monk Plus is 64ohms and very portable, so high impedance mode kicks right in.

I bought my HTC 10 about a week after its release and today I'm just as in love with it as before. The speakers aren't as good as boomsound, but holy heck the headphone audio, camera and battery are amazing. The aluminum body does get dents around the edges if you drop it a lot, but a Dbrand skin fixes that. You don't really need a case since the phone is sturdy as a rock. If anyone is going to go cheap and buy the previous generation flagship when next year's phones come out, I'd highly recommend the HTC 10, it has aged like a champ.

I'm here at the end of 2016 looking for a new phone. I had put all my hopes in the Pixel and it has been found wanting. I had hoped the Pixel would be an upgraded HTC 10 with that Nexus flavor. Not quite. Now I find myself looking back on the HTC 10. Besides the 821 SOC and obvious software advantages (and photo/video storage) I think the HTC 10 is back on the menu. I love the build, I like the size, SD card slot (TY), great audio - the camera may not be where I'd like, but I think if I could root it and take control of the software updates it could be a great phone priced now where the Pixel should be.

I need HTC to be at least on par with other OEMs in terms of camera for me to go back to an HTC phone. Though i loved my M7, the camera aged a bit poorly, something i can't say about my LG G4 with xda-ported V10 camera app for manual video and all that jazz.

Christ that phone has seen some rough times.. haha. I've had mine since release and had zero regrets. I came from WM10 (950XL) and the first phone I ever had an accident with that made me have to buy a new phone :P The 10 was the best alternative and its been such a blast. Love it. In the UK it's still £450+ so for that price you're better off with the S7 Edge. HTC just doesn't want to make a small sacrifice with the price. If they released it at £399 at launch + strong advertising everybody could've been rocking the 10. Now, no matter how much they reduce it its too late.

I'm part of those thinking the main down side on the 10 is its price, which makes it not that much affordable, even though I feel more like it's desserved, you get Something for your bucks when you get one, considering the masterpieces in it, such as its DAC, Amp (not as great as V20 of course, but still faaaar above classic ones), & a tank build quality/durability. I add that HTC is one of the lowest rated brand regarding programmed obsolescence, compared to other popular smartphone brands. The camera, although it's honorable especially intrinsically to HTC's previous models, didn't convince me, & it's one of my prioritary criterias, so I don't think I'll consider it, except if later models don't supplant it, & if its price gets down. Sprint gave me a S7 to use while my HTC 10 was being shipped or put in stock or whatever ... s7 was cool i never really needed to submerge it in water i took it into the bathroom when i showered and the screen is bright vibrant ..maybe TOO viberant i see what people wers saying about it looking fake or too colorful it just looked like a hd cartoon but thats coolbfor some and it was fast and it looked beautiful .... now with all that said i still couldnt wait to get my hands on the ten and let me tell you ! from the moment i had it unwrapped this is premium ! solid ! feels like i was holding a .. im not sexist but this felt like a MANS phone ! yet the edges gave it a sleek not rugged design its like haveing a five o clock shadow but slicking your hair back ! its fast just as fast as the s7 no hiccups maybe the occasional bar drop or signal loss but thats my provider screen while not as bright as the s7 its awesome! clear not uh cartoony looking just clear crisp sharp!! i take my phone in the restroom to play music while i shower no issues at all ! while i play media or music it bumps !! sometimes when its noisy i cup the bottom speaker but thats rare outside noise effect its i mostly wear headphones outside anyway. the headphone dac is spectacular i mean you hear EVERYTHING! button placement is perfect when you turn your phone sideways to watch a vid you never hit anything you not suppose to. expandable storage i mean this is a android lovers phone plain and simple. its sleek and sturdy feels like a personal mini computer for james bond anyway i dont miss the s7 at all it was a no brainer for me and i couldnt be happier with the 10

Got mine at launch (it was $100 off at the time). Still absolutely loving it. This baby has no problem driving my Sennhesier IE 80s. I'd have to disagree with the segment of the video knocking the battery life as my phone still comfortably lasts me an entire day and then some. Also HTC customer service is top notch, they sent me a free type-C cable at launch and just recently sent me a free case and tote bag out of nowhere. Gotta love the little things, and ofc Uh Oh! Protection.

If that's the way Adam Dowd looks after his phones, I'd hate to see his toothbrush. The HTC 10 was the device I settled on this year simply because for the last 12 years or so I've never used another device apart from a Samsung. I love this phone but when the time comes to replace it I'll probably circle back to Samsung, but if HTC keep producing phones like this... who knows, I may very well stick with them. I also love the fact that this phone doesn't come preinstalled with 36 web browsers, 17 messaging apps, 25 calenders etc. like Samsung devices do, none of which can be uninstalled without rooting.

Love my 10. I think the decline in sales is partly the result of ATT not carrying this phone. I know a couple friends who would have gotten this phone if ATT carried it. Makes me wonder how many people fall under this same category. I know they sell it unlocked on their site, but without the financing option its a difficult purchase to justify. Just my thoughts, but I could be wrong.

My room mate was arrested for prostitution & gave me his HTC 10 so I turned it on at Tmobile intill the Note 8 comes out next year & let me tell you guys something this phone kicks ass!! Sure not a better camera or screen then my Note 7 but just as fast and close 2nd on everything else, shit I even dropped it in water and it still runs fine!! I wont even start on the sound cuz its loud and with headphones just blows everything else away!! I've had this phone since may and there hasn't been a day when I wasn't happy with it. the battery life for me is fantastic and easily lasts a day with ~30% remaining. overall fantastic phone

Battery life is absolutely amazing for me. At the end of the day, I still usually have 65% to 70% left after ~30 mins calling, 5-6 hours music streaming, 30min-1 hr video streaming.

What killed the 10 for me was it's price, although from time to time I can permit myself such luxury, this year I handled 3 phones, while normally people around me do 2 year with 1 phone. (even though, one phone was second hand, the other one was a super discount and both were sold again at no loss) I found reason to expend either time or money on the HTC 10, I tried the nexus 6p because it was cheap and it's a nexus. The P9 plus I got in a Amazon discount and the camera system was something worth trying, and the whole phone didn't disappoint, I liked it a lot of it wasn't for the poor video recording and music experience. And last but not least my actual s7 edge, was the greatest replacement for my old xperia, it still is touchwizz, but it isn't terrible anymore, it's just bad, and it brings a great camera and water resistance.

As of today April 2 2017 this phone hasn't slow down on me, matter of fact nougat made it even better! I got the T Mobile silver one and you're absolutely right about the color hiding small scratches. Camera has gotten amazing with updates, all buttons​ are as tight as a virgin, finger print scanner has becomes faster over time, audio is STILL king, software is fast and responsive, the adoptive storage is a huge advantage over other phones... The list is big and all the little details that you find and see when you use it for a loooooong time makes you feel mad about the fact that it doesn't have the attention it deserves. This is a no gimmick all-rounder do-it-all phone not the best at anything but damn good in everything!

I'm very satisfied with my HTC 10. I have a Spigen polyurethane case on mine and it's been a peach! I still miss my stereo boomsound speakers and NFC is somewhat inconsistent, but everything else has been great. The camera easily outperforms my previous HTC phones.

The HTC 10 is easily one of the smoothest snappiest performing Android devices of 2016. The issue that became prevalent with this phone was it's huge bezel. Made you feel like you were holding a view finder or looking through the small windows of a camaro lol. The screen was too small and it should have been AMOLED. Also the back camera, while good for HTC, was not on par with other flagships and left much to be desired. The front camera should have really been a 12 megapixel OIS since one of the biggest selling points was their selfie camera. One other thing that plagued HTC was a lack of features. Not enough punch for the price. This phone did not sell well and HTC needs to start creating a phablet version along with their regular sized flagships along with more mid-tier devices to really make a dent in the market.

Great review! 🙂 This sounds promising since I've had my HTC 10 for about a month now. It really is an underrated phone and may have done better if there was more advertising for it, but also a lower price (though I believe they have it on sale right now on their website). Either way, it's a great alternative for those that want choices and I do like the camera.. for an average person (like me), the camera is really good. Hopefully the nougat update will come, but I'm in no hurry... marshmallow is great. Anyway, here's to a better future for HTC.

Silver Star but this is now or were prices at launch date?. In euro Europe, the HTC 10 was in most countries 50 to 100 € more expensive than the S7, topping up with the edge version. I know it because I search lots of shops in various countries for the 10, but for the price, I went with the edge. On the down side, Sammy software and the speaker on the s7 edge is terrible. But you get a bigger, better display, better battery life, better camera and water resistance.

After going thru a Note 7, S7 loaner, the. ANOTHER Note 7, I decided to pickup the HTC 10. it was originally my 2nd choice over the Note 7 and I have to say that this phone is amazing! I saved a few hundred bucks and it has all the high end specs if a 2016 flagship. I honestly like this phone better than Samsung phones mentioned..kudos to HTC

I purchased a pre order of the HTC 10 direct from HTC on its release and couldn't be happier with the over all performance of this phone. The only downside to the HTC 10 is the price point. Knowing that they had had such terrible reviews over the past couple years on their previous phones (M8, M9, A9) what HTC really needed to do was launch this phone in the $300-$400 range to attract people back after pushing so many customers towards brands like LG, Samsung and Nexus. Unfortunately, being launched at such a HIGH price after several failures didn't put a lot of trust into consumers. Here in Canada, my total purchase when I ordered the HTC 10 from HTC was well over $1000 with shipping and everything. And that was WITH the pre order discount that they offered. Ridiculous. Now keep in mind. Yes, this is a FANTASTIC phone. and suuure... the camera might not be as good as the S7, but its pretty damn close. And over all a great camera. The design aesthetics and quality, speakers, and lack of bloatware are also top notch. I love everything about the HTC 10. Unfortunately they just dropped the ball on asking WAY TOO MUCH for the phone and that was undoubtedly the biggest contributing fact to it being the most underrated flagship of 2016.

still running an M8 and runs as good as new. no lag, battery lasts all day, then again I always have battery saving mode on. I was considering upgrading to the 10 but I'll wait til my m8 completely dies on me.

mate I went back on forth between the axon and the 6P for weeks. watching every damn youtube video i could so finally i pulled the trigger and ordered the nexus. this is coming from someone who stuck with HTC strictly because of the front facing speakers, the 6P is astounding in that department. What made me shy away form the axon was the camera and software reviews. I hope this helps.

evolvingandroid Yah I was also deciding between those two, the nexus 6p has a snapdragon 810 tho wich is known to overheat, I do not care alot about the camera, the axon is probably better than my one m8 and if i really dislike the software i can always throw the pixel launcher on it or something or root and have a custom rom.

excellent video. The HTC 10 is hard to take care of. although ergonomic in the hand, it's slippery metal finish means this thing has gone flying out of my hand a few times.

I am a fan of HTC. The only thing i didn't like about this particular phone is the lack of dual front facing stereo speakers :| HTC One M7 had them, HTC One M8 had them, HTC One M9 had them but then HTC 10 just didn't have them :/ But i do like this phone! as this too is a marvel of engineering! Cheers HTC! :D

I was initaly worried about missing stereo speakers on the 10 after having a M8, but tbh it works really well on the 10. there was no real stereo separation on the m8 anyway, but i dont need to hold the hand like on other mono-speaker phones like iphone and samsung - so trust me you will no be dissapointed by the 10 - the dual speakers are still there. Blocking out the bottom speaker does not mute the phone like it does on S6-S7 phones. a bit worse, sure, but not so much as to make it unusable.

Vladimír Petija The I phone is not in the same league as this phone or the V20. They cover details on the I phone 6s in another video and they've confirmed the 7 sound output is the same. The I phone won't have as good of a dac or the amperage of the 10 or the V20

I have never listened to the Sony but if it is High Res certified I am sure it is great in the audio department. If you want an I phone and want great sound you have options. You can buy a DragonFly Dac and connect it to the lightning port. That will have better sound than any phone on the market that comes with factory dac and amp.

The vibration motor might have got damaged because of the nasty drops.The 10 has handled the drops pretty well though.
