The HTC HD2 is like the Toyota Supra, a well sought after car that still catches the eyes the of car enthusiasts. I'm baffled by the fact that the phone can run Android 4.4 Kit Kat.

Im not sure if the Motorola Atrix is old enough for a throwback. But it was the first phone with bio-metrics (a fingerprint scanner), and now this feature is all the rage as if it was something new. I just took mine Atrix out of a drawer after a good year and a half, and the fingerprint sensor works GREAT! You can even use it as a mouse to scroll through icons on the screen if you have modified software.

Ok i cannot really play today's games on it, but other than that, it's fully functional. Still waiting for the windows XP to be bootable on it :D

HTC HD2 ohh, was the best smartphone ever and it still is. Love it. It was the best sleepless smartphones nights, when I have been flashing and flashing. Ive bought it in 2/2010 and I tried all "offered" platforms. If you want you can have "new" mobile every single day.. A plenty of settings, tons of ROMs. Well done !!! My wife is still using it and the device runs on android JB with no prob.

HD2 and GS2 are the all time being champions, when it comes to fan love on forums like xda or androidcentral. With support like this these phones will never die and I highly doubt any new current phone or upcoming can repeat the success that GS2 especially made. :) They even have a thousands of KitKat 4.4.2 ROMS and they count more than S4'ones! lol

I freaking loved my GSII Epic 4G. It was honestly the first smartphone experience that was great. I still have it and refuse to get rid of it. If I hadn't switched from Sprint to T-Mobile, I might even still be using it. I keep it in my car as an mp3 player now, and I have a custom 4.0 rom flashed to it (back when 2.3 was the still the norm I flashed it). Samsung hasn't done anything note worthy since the GS3 though, and I've since moved to HTC from a gnex when I got my One last April.

This phone was one of the most capable phones I had ever owned. I got mine second hand on ebay and no more than 48 hrs after receiving it, I begin modding it. I had no money for mistakes so if I bricked it, then it was back to my old 5th hand decrepit iPhone 3g. It took me around 8 or so hours to finally get Android Froyo running on it, this was after successfully installing windows phone OS 8 and then going back to windows phone OS 6.5 as some of the features didnt work with the OS upgrade. I had the phone for a few years and only had one major failure which was that the earphone/receiver stopped working. Thanks to the internet, I was able to take the phone apart and replace the failed part with a 3 dollar eBay earpiece, no soldering required. Try doing that with a phone today. I kept the phone until Android became so unreliable that the device would randomly reboot and a few times it would factory reset itself without warning. I do miss the rigid and beautiful design of this phone, this was a time where having a head phone jack and a replaceable battery was the norm.

It's the end of 2016 and someone ported Android 7.0 on the HD2. Yes, 7.0. Nougat. Not usable at all of course but it's there and it runs. I have an HD2 still working as well by the way. I used it with WP7, different versions of Android and the original Windows Mobile as well. Now it's just on the shelf, I use it to stream music to the bluetooth speaker and to just mess around with. Runs Android 4 now and it just runs fine. Incredible phone, my favorite phone ever made.

Doesnt take much to remember this device , it still sits fully charged and ready to flash any flavour of OS i feel like on a weekly basis , right now its running the Desire-Z rom with SLATE skin and lanscape sense support , its been a while since i had a Windows build running on it though. I remember in 2009 it was DCORDES (xda user) that made the most impact in the initial period of android development - also known as @htc_linux on twitter. then my own personal HD2 photos went around the world (inluding featured on pocket now ) with those very first linux frames running on a HD2. Glory days indeed and i stil remember Neil Lund thinking i was a bit mad thinking i would have android within six months of purchase back in 2009, I must add the name COTULLA who made the breakthrough back in the day and is legendary at breaking into so many of the old true XDA devices and opening up their bootloader posibilities, and to ***** - thanks for a truly awesome throwbck, this one was always going to be awesome.

My favorite WM device hands down and one of my favorite phones ever! Besting my T Mobile Wing, unlocked European Touch Diamond, Palm Treo Pro amd even my Touch Pro 2. Like many, I too enjoyed the bevy of custom ROMs available from Windows Mobile to Android. Personally, after much customization, I would always revert back to stock and install custom CAB files to change my icons and run it as is. Watching this on my Note 3, I think I'll hit up eBay or CL and rekindle this old flame... :) Thanks Pocketnow!

Probably the best smartphone made for the time. I mean who really would have thought 5 years ago this phone would have survived the longest and still going strong? I am pretty sure not even HTC would have thought that in their dreams.

Its very surprising that this thing is from 2009. Just remember the OS on Blackberry at the time. This thing was revolutionary in function and style.

The Sidekick would be a great throwback device, possibly the greatest "QWERTY" keyboard phone ever made.
