Very beautiful. Thanks Fr. I would also like to add that although we "externally" use incense for our worship; as St.Francis De Sales would say, God does not Need our incense But WE HUMANS NEED IT many times, to turn our worldly, irreverential and distracted minds to God. So God is the object of our worship, and incense is a tool to express our heart' worship. Thank God for His wisdom made known to us in Scripture, as rightly quoted by Fr in this video. Praise God!

I agree with many of you who have expressed your feelings and views, We need good Holy Priests in the Catholic Church like no tomorrow. I am a C of E Convert of some 57 Years now and I came into the Catholic Church quite by chance, My young Lady at the time asked me to take her to Mass on a Sunday Eve after her work , she was a Nurse , I was asked to wait in my Car until the Mass was over in about 30/40 Minutes , I asked her if I could come with her ? ( I had not been inside a Church for many Years to a Service ) What I witnessed was remarkable, instead of a long building with the Altar almost out of site the only the Priest went up to to pray, The Catholic Church had the Altar in front of the People and the Priest said ( This is my sacrifice and yours ) I thought , Wow ! The Priest is sharing his Ministry with me ! Later I made a study of the Catholic Faith with a Priest for some 18 Months and at the end and ( Make your mind up time ) he said if I wished to stay as was that was fine, but he thought I would make a good member of the Catholic Church but would I promise not to Lapse ? I hope I have kept that Promise, I am now 82 Years of age and my Catholic Faith has been a Joy and considerable comfort all these years, The Young Lady became my Wife whom I love very much. We have Two Daughters and A Son plus Three Grand Children from 9 Years to 23 years ( all Boys ). God Bless. Peter of Jersey Channel Islands.

I like to think of the incense like a modern day glory cloud. Just as the "shekina" glory cloud was with Moses in the old testament He too is with us at every mass. How would you say someone who has asthma, manage their attendance of a mass with incense? I have asthma, and while I don't get the stereotypical symptoms, I get really light headed and nauseous. I've had this experience every time I've been in a building with little to no ventilation, and where incense is used the whole mass. I do love incense and understand it, but I'm finding it hard to reconcile going to a mass with incense if I am made physically sick because of it.

It might be different for you since you have asthma but it won't hurt to ask so you don't miss out on what God needs you to hear :)

So many people tell me to cleanse myself and my home with different sages and palo santo and to repeat a mantra in the process. @josephtran-day34372 жыл бұрын
It is not the same thing because sage and all the spiritual nonsense is the work of the devil to mimic what God is doing with Holy Incense in Church. I am speaking this from experience. You cant worship two Gods as one. You have to choose between Jesus or many different pagan gods of the world.

One of the most prevalent names in 'loose incense' is the dutch company Three Kings incense. Their blend 'Pontifical', which uses black and gold colored frankincense with a styrax oil as a finishing touch, is the one used in the Vatican! @AveChristusRex3 жыл бұрын
Traditionally, in the West, they used the Douay-Rheims translation of the Bible. It was released 2 years before the King James, and like the King James, revised into more modern English a couple centuries later (no one uses the original Doauy-Rheims or King James, because both are in late English, and barely readable, but the revised Editions). The Douay-Rheims is actually a translation of the Latin Vulgate, a Latin translation by St. Jerome from the fourth century, taking the Douay-Rheims back over a thousand years, made by a scholar of Hebrew, Aramaic, and who natively knew Latin and Greek, and only three centuries removed from the apostles - and having the company of theological giants, such as Augustine or John 'Golden Tongue.' Very, very, very recently in terms of the history of the Church, Catholics have begun to use modern translations like the Revised Standard Version. Or worse (lol). But the King James is essentialy unobjectionable as a translation as an alternative. As someone who studies the Biblical languages, I cannot reccommend the Doauy-Rheims enough.

One of the main reasons incense were first used in the medieval days... Was because personal hygiene wasn't too good five six seven hundred years ago... And people came to church stinking . . .a thurible full of sweet smelling incense covered some of that... And represents our prayers ascending into heaven. . . It's also a morning and evening sacrifice, Sweet incense and a good thurible and charcoal cost lots of money it's given as an offering to God... But know this we're only saved by faith and what Christ did on the cross you have to Repent of your sins, then but your faith in Jesus like you would a parachute if you where going to jump out of an airplane, you can't just look at the parachute you have to put it on, put on the Lord Jesus Christ and By faith, you will be saved... Galatians chapter 2:16-21 16 know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified. 17 “But if, in seeking to be justified in Christ, we Jews find ourselves also among the sinners, doesn’t that mean that Christ promotes sin? Absolutely not! 18 If I rebuild what I destroyed, then I really would be a lawbreaker. 19 “For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God,who loved me and gave himself for me.21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!

Friend, that's a very dangerous and shallow interpretation of that verse: God is rejecting the Jews who sinfully presume to engage in holy activities and observances, whereas their 'hearts are far from him.' It's not the things which are bad, but a rhetorical rejection of their being offered by the Jews who sinned against him as an adulterous wife. Take a similar passage, for example, "I have no pleasure in you, saith the Lord of hosts: and I will not receive a gift of your hand. 11 For from the rising of the sun even to the going down, my name is great among the Gentiles, and in every place there is sacrifice, and there is offered to my name a clean oblation: for my name is great among the Gentiles, saith the Lord of hosts." A prophecy of the Eucharist.
