This was my first time doing this and they really helped bring my ideas to life, at an affordable rate. They also helped me advertise my first single with such an impactful ad. TORS has given me the tools and confidence to keep writing more songs. Joe was great in guiding me through the process and all the instruments I’d need. Hi Keppie! (Hello hello after a while. It’s been busy.) I’ve known Joe for a couple of years now and have worked with a couple of TORS (Online Recording Studio) producers!! ☺️ I can confirm that they are a great team and they match artists with producers well - all my self releases are under them. Haven’t worked with Danny but I’ve heard good things about him. Nice to see different areas of my world meet! 😆 So for those who want to get their songs produced, I highly recommend TORS. They do all genres of music and can transform a simple vocal over piano/guitar to full band/electronic/etc! (Produced demos are nice to have, but not essential, for them.) I have learnt a significant bit on rewriting songs too with songs to make the production feel like it’s meant for the song working with TORS, just like what you said in the video! Happy to hear you have nothing but good things to say about them!!

The song sounds great! I'm a bit concerned that with all that work on Danny's part AND paying out musicians, it only came to $800 USD, that Danny is not really getting payed fairly for his skill and talent - unless Danny spent less than 10 hours total. It's also pretty likely that the Online Recording Studio company took a cut, further reducing Danny's pay. I'm not criticising y'all - and I'm glad you tried this out and got such great results. Just, as a producer/engineer/musician, I'm concerned about the Uber/AirBnB-ification of producing music. I'm very much in favour of keeping things affordable for indy songwriters and musicians. I'm also a fan of people getting paid a living wage, and not encouraging a race to the bottom, pay-wise. Thanks for the great videos and tips!
@officialWWM5 ай бұрын
Before long, those concerns will be irrelevant. AI technology will soon be doing all of this in 10 minutes…
@theonlinerecordingstudio5 ай бұрын
@seanflora Great to hear that you like the song, Sean! We totally hear you and your concerns about a race to the bottom are completely valid. We totally agree. Sites like Fiverr and SoundBetter, where producers/creatives have to bid for jobs, whilst also having to pay to bid for those jobs, encourage a race to the bottom as creatives are made to compete with everyone else on the platform. This often means that talented producers end up having to do a lot more for a lot less in order to build up their profiles, get consistent work, and ensure that they are not undercut by other users. Plus, they have to spend a large chunk of their time trying to get new work, rather than being able to focus on the bit that they do best and enjoy the most - actually making great music! At TORS, we solve these problems. Producers have set rates for their projects, so never need to negotiate on their pay or drop their rates to secure their projects with us. We also ensure that they have a consistent flow of new artist projects to work on and we handle all the administration around those tracks. This means that producers have consistent work at their set rates, without having to worry about finding new clients, handling administration, spending money to pitch for jobs, or needing to race to the bottom. We want to make sure that music production is sustainable for both artists and producers for years to come! 🎸

Am I to understand from this video that it's normal for the final recording to not include any of you actually playing any of the instruments? That its normal for "songwriting" to be only vocals and some chords and other musicians write and play every thing else? For example the piano and bass and drums are all created and played by someone else? I've learned a lot about songwriting from this channel, but it seems weird to me, idk
@theonlinerecordingstudio4 ай бұрын
Great question! It's actually very typical for songwriters to not play instruments on their tracks. Many songwriters also play an instrument so will play on their songs but there are loads of excellent songwriters who just focus on lyrics - sometimes not even the chords/melodies. We're here to help songwriters with whatever they need!

I understand this... And I love the song btw!... Sounds great!... I thought this was gonna be an AI thing. But if there are young songwriters out there with $800 and no recording facilities, even very basic.... Get that first!.... of which $800 would cover. The learning experience of making demo's is kinda valuable if god forbid.... your dreams actually come true, and you become a recording artist. ;).
@BdotRASS5 ай бұрын
They used their own vox though, that kinda suggests they expect people engaging with the service to have access to decent recording facilities. Also she does acknowledge the price at the end of the video as being a lot but less than alternatives.
@kamaehamae5 ай бұрын
I’d say that with TORS (working with them - I’m a happy customer for years who happen to also subscribe to this channel), you only need a decent mic and a good enough room. Their producers are well-equipped in making your vocals sound good. It obviously won’t be a top-end recording since you need a mic that is at least a couple of thousand dollars for that, but it is good for the price and the people listening won’t care unless they compare your song to a major label one! For starters, something like a Rhode NT1 is good enough.

There is nothing amazing, unique, special, or new about this. It’s a marketing trick. You’re hiring a producer/etc., and musicians, etc. i.e. whatever…. You making a video making it out to be anything other than I stated is a joke.
