Based on the layout it looks like the VRM has 3 phases to the CPU, each phase feeding into two power stages. Each power stage consists of one high side MOSFET, one low side MOSFET, and one inductor. Are you sure that the other PWM signal goes to the memory, rather than just being unused? I think it is possible for it to be set up that way, but I don't know of any motherboards that use the PWM signal from the main PWM controller for the memory, even if it has spare/unused phases. I've certainly seen unusual VRM design choices from other Chinese X79 and X99 motherboards, so I wouldn't say it can't be set up that way, but most motherboards use a separate "buck" PWM controller to drive the memory VRM. I believe that the small rectangular chip between the R80 inductor and memory capacitors at the bottom left at 3:00 may be one of these (possibly an RT8120D).

Thanks for the videos and especially English versions. I would like your advice on making the most cost-effective decision with my next GAMING/Media (will not be used as server) PC build. Should I get a dual CPU MB or single CPU MB? and what make/model? Definitely want overclockable CPU, Pretty sure DDR4 will be a benefit gaming is the main function of the build. You seem to recommend the E5-2678 v3 or for gaming should I simply just choose a compatible CPU with highest clock or turbo? Or should I just go Ryzen, pre-built, pre-owned or WalMart lol. I do already have a GTX1650 SUPER that will be upgraded later. Currently in an aging ASUS G20CB which has i7 6700, 16GB DDR4 SO-DIMM thats plagued by a "custom" H170 motherboard powered by 2 laptop style AC power bricks. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Other than a used parts build I will never again use ASUS or intel products intel changes socket type for no reason and while ASUS had this board a bios patch or something to upgrade CPU to kaby or coffee lake intel wouldnt allow. Problem with ASUS is their prices and in the case with my G20CB a week after warranty went out the GTX 1070 fried no signal not detected ASUS customer service/tech support couldnt answer any questions about their product that didnt come with a motherboard manual (e.g. jumper settings, PCIE power ect.) and apparently they stopped releasing driver updates so having issues with entire system. yeah so asus, intel, apple and razer Im done with.
@Miyconst3 жыл бұрын
It's always a bad idea to buy a custom made prebuild PC. These PCs are designed to attract with a price and then die right after the warranty period. They also try to make sure that it's next to impossible to upgrade to fix the PC. Answering your questions, E5-2678 V3 is not an overclockable CPU and you won't benefit from it in games / media. If you really want to change the PC - go the Ryzen route. Ryzen 3500X / 3300X / 3100X are all rather good for your needs and can be overclocked with almost any motherboard.
