Fair comparison, but P30 PRO it's a much better phone overall. I don't like xiaomi at all. I have a Redmi Note 5, and the MIUI it's garbage, probably the ugliest skin on android phones and not to talk about ads, oh boy i have ads even in settings menu. I had Sony, HTC, LG before and never ever seen ads in settings. Last Xiaomi phone for sure.

It is not surprising at all when comparing the CPU performance. The competitor for Kirin 980 is actually snapdragon 845. Kirin 990 should come later this year with Mate 30. However, the camera feature is the real strong reason to go with P30 pro. For those who do not care about the camera, Mi9 is definitely a better choice.

@@kasadam85 Even by this weird logic , sd 845 still smokes kirin 980. But it is not a correct thinking. You can't compare two chips if the node process of one is superior than that of the other. By that logic you can take many other smartphones that were launched in 2019 as new, with an inferior process and still claim they should be compared to smartphones launched in 2019 with a superior process just because they were launched the same year. Me thinks you 've just let a brainfart Sherlock! Just reset your thought processes , because they are too confused and sluggish. That said , Kirin 980 may score up to 310000 , depending on the configuration and as low as 255 to 260k. Sd 855 on the other hand can score as low as 350k. Sd 855, in general is a very fast and efficient chip, and puts to shame even a12 bionic that you will generally acquire by spending something like 1200 to 1500 dollars. And keep in mind Qualcomm went low profile this time, by keeping frequencies too low having in mind energy conservation. This means it does not only beat all competitors but manages to do that having their chips running much cooler and spending less energy. This means that even if single core performance of competitors may sometimes seem higher it is only achieved at the expense of raising frequency, or consuming more energy anyway, when running single threaded applications and of a low load at that. I am pretty sure that if someone put said faster single cores under loads that require a lengthy sustained performance , they would throttle like crazy and eat quite a dust from not only sd 855 but probably sd 845 too.

MIUI is shit and the microphone of Mi 9 sucks as well with it's video blur.I can't pay 650$ For SD855 with a not good camera experience.If ignoring the camera and living with MIUI, Pocophone is still better. I will definitely choose Galaxy S10+ for a SD855.For gaming, iPad mini 5 is the best budget device with the best performance. For camera performance, Xioaomi can never beat Huawei nor Samsung. So Xiaomi is just for those who don't like apple products but want to have good gaming experiences. Mi9 finally is just a better version of Pocophone F1.It has adds after app cleaner which is stupid for a flagahip. I first thought Xiaomi provides the best budget phones with super good performance, but after comparing many phones, it is obvious that there is always a reason why a phone is cheap even with a good SoC. The drawbacks are hidden in a sneaky way. A good flagship should have a nice camera and good connection so Huawei still is worth for its price especially with that crazy zoom and night mode.

Surprisingly slow netspeed on Xiaomi Mi 9. Did you use 2G or 5G wifi band? . I have been testing mine and On 2G it scores 114 mbs and on 5G it goes beyond max connection Speed 150Mbs actually it scores 170. On Lte Mi 9 Scores indoors over 300 mbs obviously uses combined multiple 4G connections.

@TechZG alot of people dont know this with the Huaweii P30 Pro, but if you go to settings > Battery > and turn on Performance Mode, you can get 312000 in Antutu, also if you add a different launcher like nova, i managed to get 317000 It's not advertised anywhere but it turns out the P30 Pro has no modes enabled by default, so its only running at half performance and capping the CPU by default.

First of all , the Performance mode was off on p30 pro Secondly : This benchmark application belongs to Xiaomi and it heavily favours Snapdragon . Kirin 980 scored 310K first, then 308K and now 300K . They're decreasing this regularly by time .

I have a Mi9 and I'm pretty happy with it. But truly, the p30 pro to me feels better in hand (Mi9 feels heavier and it has sharper edges), it also has a much brighter screen, and camera is better (hardware and software), but the price is too high in my opinion. Mi9 feels to me more like the p30 standard.

A lot of comments are basing their purchase on speed alone. Speed tests are fine but there's a lot more intangibles to a phone than just speed. Good camera is very important to most people too, at least in the US. Speakers are important to me because I'm on KZbin a lot and I don't care who I bother by not using headphones. For the price, I would compare the Mi 9 to the P30 (non-pro). That's a more fair comparison price wise. But this is still useful information. The downloading data rates is something I've never stopped to think about and it's super important.

The mode "saver" is a mechanism based on the level of software to save the power by decreasing the frequence of CPU etc. So this is more fair to compare the performance of phones with the same percent of power.

I think this just shows how efficiently the SD855 frees up its memory. That's why Mi 9 loads slower in the second round since it has already freed up more previously opened apps. The temperature is a proof.
