Huawei Strikes Again with 5nm Kirin SoC Chip Made By SMIC
Last August, Huawei shook up the tech world with the launch of the Mate 60 series, featuring the groundbreaking Kirin 9000s SoC-a 5G chipset crafted by China's leading foundry, SMIC, using its cutting-edge 7nm process node. This marked Huawei's return to 5G chipsets since the release of the Mate 40 series in 2020, amidst U.S. export restrictions on advanced silicon shipments to Huawei.
Now, the spotlight shifts once again as reports surface about Huawei's development of a new flagship Kirin chip, reportedly to be manufactured by SMIC. Prolific leaker Digital Chat Station has ignited speculation on Weibo, hinting at a Kirin chip potentially utilizing a 5nm process node-an advancement that could raise eyebrows among U.S. officials given SMIC's limitations in lithography technology.
But the intrigue doesn't end there. Huawei is said to be enhancing its Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for AI tasks and exploring the transition to a 64-bit structure for future Kirin chips. Rumored to bear the name Kirin 9010, this upcoming AP is rumored to boast Huawei's Balong 6000 modem, promising seamless connectivity.
Geekbench 6 leaks shed light on the chip's prowess, with a reported single-core score of 1800 and a multi-core score of 4800. Equipped with the Maleoon 920 GPU and the latest dual-core Ascend NPU configuration, this new Kirin chip hints at groundbreaking performance and efficiency.
Join us as we unravel the latest developments in Huawei's chip innovation journey. Subscribe now for the latest updates, leaks, and insights on Huawei's next-gen Kirin chip and its implications for the global tech landscape!

If this is true, the 5nm will kill all tech barrier from the west. The current 4nm and 3nm (not stable and overheat) only are required by very few. So Huawei is basically one generation away. Not bad for company that was being singled out by USA to be destroyed. Karma (USA) sucks.

Huawei Kirin 9010 has been tested, the performance score is closed to Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (4nm). So what do you think 9010 at least? Well done China!!

Not ever. China is currently at the known max limits of open, non-American technology and using technology not even China invented but to do better from now China will have to invent and innovate to improve the node level.

I don’t know why they continue to say Huawei. It is SMIC with multiple exposure , so the yield is much lower . The performance of Huawei 7nm has no match with Qualcomm and media tech CPUs

Learn to read and listen, the title of this video already said it'd made by SMIC. It's alright not to have the latest technology if they can optimize their OS/softwares and keep costs low for consumer acceptance. They anyway they are ahead of all western expectations, check back again a couple more years and be surprised

Although Huawei is building foundries of its own, today Huawei mostly does the schematics work while SMIC does the actual manufacturing.

They made it to 7nm, I'm sure they'll find a way to get to 5nm. ( Russia has started working on using x-rays instead of EUV to make small chips. I'm very curious to see where this leads. )

@@SewTubular do you know immersion technology involved?optical technology is just parts of it and I doubt Russia has the photo resist chemical which over 90% of them is from japan, even TSMC needs it to go on . China and Russia definitely have no ability to do. The optic can be generated by the accelerometer in China but it is KM long and then the optical lens , other components to make the parts. ASML has promised no more parts and maintenance for the DUV machines . It is just a matter of time , those machines break dow. Every EUV machines costs couple hundreds of million and needs to upkeep weekly

@@phlei95014 Not sure if this changes things much, but the x-ray process that Russia is developing is "maskless". It would not surprise me if China and Russia end up working on this together. ( they've done this with other tech )

@@SewTubular I worked on massless technology before , it won’t be able in production. Do you know how long it generates one die , the computer has to write for a long time- My friend works in Harvard physic lab for the e beam write, it can’t be in production because of the speed. Besides it needs to buy the photo resist chemical from japan, the only place. Russia never has any IC capability , its semi process still in very primitive stage . Russian technology is overblown, you can see from the Russian Ukraine war, Su34 shutdowns an S400 anti missile system ineffective due to lacks of advanced ICs. The failure of electronic warfare is due to the advanced ICs. China and India bought several S400 systems but Israel F35s can go in Syria to attack like no man’s land with S400 and S300 systems

Unless this chip is seen in quantity, it's just vaporware. It would be very difficult to make commercially and profitably using DUV. China just filed for a self aligned quadruple expisure process, if real it would be a small but significant innovation but patent spplications are not not always implemented in the real world or even granted if defective
