Great video Gregor. 150 per hour is not bad because it is your craftsmanship to enjoy your patience and tolerances to how much precision you want. As to why some of your pellets are sub MOA and some are not? You have barrel harmonics where the shock wave travels approximately 5 times faster than the pellet as it leaves the muzzle, so you can have 4 to 10 shock waves bounce to the end of the barrel and back before the pellet exits the muzzle. The key is to write down every data point you can and decipher the harmonics involved with the velocity of the pellet as it goes from zero velocity to muzzle velocity and where the shock wave of the barrel metal is so your pellet leaves at approximately a nodal point and not a peak or cresting point, which is what makes airgunning so much fun instead of just pulling the trigger like a mad man. Another key point is that lead is not 100% pure, it is impossible, but it can approach 99.999% in very expensive wet acid lead batteries, so lead has other alloys which changes the specific gravity of 11,340 kg/m^3, or 11.34 g/cc, or 1501.5684210258 grains per caliber sphere, or ball. And the list goes on and on. Lastly, numbers do not lie, but you can lie with numbers and the laws of physics are not just really good ideas. Great videos, please keep them coming and be safe out there.
@gregorkamensek39234 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I agree about the harmonics. Unfortunately, when it some to K1, the harmonics are not the cause to accuracy problems, 99% of the issues is the fact it shoots from the magazine and the problem occurs in transition form magazine to barrel.

Something else I would point out is that swaging produces more uniform bullets/slugs, but the drawback is the design is a smooth cylinder which greatly increases drag...while cast bullets/slugs may be designed with several drive bands on long part of them so that only those bands are touching the rifling and thereby seal the bore and yet do so with much less drag than the swaged ones.

Gregor Kamenšek Do you have any update on how is your swagging kit performing over year of usage in terms of durability? I haven't decided year ago when we spoke to buy mold because someone from Poland is making them based on first version of MP-mold kit and I purchase from him. Now I'm thinking would buying swagging kit would be a good idea. In one hand I understand that mold would give me more bullets per minute but in other hand it is more hazardous and requires more time, preparation and place - which I will lack of for next year. Therefore the only thing that turns me off from swagging kit from Huben is it limitation to make up to 3-5k bullets.

Thanks for your reply Gregor, I cant wait for the Daystate video. I am from the same country, South Africa, as Mat from AirArmsHuntingSA is. I love the Daystate's though(pure pedigree) and with the power your getting on your Wolverine, it could be the "sniper rifle" in the arsenal. did you loose accuracy shooting those energies with those 52gr slugs? PS: have you ever modded a Sam Yang Sumatra? there are guys in my country claiming a Sumatra modded is superior in power(not accuracy) to the K1. - say it insn't so! @@jeanvanrooyen6004 Huben is very different form other PCPs and it is hard to compare it with the rest. One thing I can say for sure: it is the most advanced air gun out there. It also has the best efficiency at high power, it can reach that power with ease (unlike most other). Here is the combination that makes it unique: power/caliber, semi-auto, regulated, shot count, fill pressure, size, weight, loudness... You could also add adjustability but I intentionally left it out beacuse it is not so accurate with pellets and is primarily designed for slugs. I have highly modded ShinSung Career ultra in 9mm. this is very similar gun to Sumatra. Those guns have excellent barrels, can achieve very high powers but are not comparable in any other category with. They are big and heavy, loud, have low shot count, ... I still like them though. Daystate is all about looks. Don't get me wrong, it is still a nice an accurate gun but both Sumatra and Daystate are a very simple basic design of PCPs. There is nothing wrong with that, I just don't think that Daystate is worth what it costs... It is hard to say talk about accuracy because I did not have appropriate slugs at the time I was testing the high power. Generally I must say that the main issue with very high powers is that you have to combine the appropriate slugs with appropriate barrel and then apply the appropriate power. Even if these problems are solved, accuracy problems appear usually by a poorly made / or destined chamber. Chamber is even more important than the muzzle crown and nobody in the airgun world is talking about it (probably because pellets are inserted on the bore directly).
@jeanvanrooyen60045 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the extensive reply Gregor, you covered all my questions and more. I still have a big desire to start tinkering with a "cheaper" PCP like a sumatra to hone my skills. If you don't mind i have one more question(and sorry if this is not the place to ask it, if its not please let me know) I got my Huben today!! but... with almost no air in it. it arrived with 170 bar on the regulator (the original owner marked the pressure with a sticker so it lost no pressure in transit to me), i put a full mag of JSB redesign monster in it. I shot 4 shots and the regulator was at about was at 140 bar. I dont know the settings but the owner said it was shooting these jsb at 913fps(i have not changed a thing on the gun and have not had a chance to chrony it). I'm assuming this gun had no more than 170 bar in the main tank since it dropped so fast. I know you say I must not shoot the gun on low pressure but in about 11 shots it was at 100 bar. My father arrived at the house and i could not fill the gun(scuba tank empty even though the dive shop sold me a FULL 300 bar cylinder!!) so i shoot it anyway to show him... the huben shot 2 perfect shots and then made a fffffooooofffffff.... sound on the 3rd shot. no pellet exit. The huben is now at 60 bar on the regulator. I hope it is due to the fact that the magazine was not cycling with low pressure or something. Tomorrow i will fill the scuba tank and hopefully everything will be ok. Is this normal?
@gregorkamensek39235 жыл бұрын
@@jeanvanrooyen6004 Everything normal about that. Just fill it up and at those powers (almost 100 j) keep the regulator at 170 bars, and make sure that you shoot only down to 170 bars (you can go slightly lower of course). If you fill it to 250 bars, you should get at least one magazine at that power. This gun needs some getting used to as it operates very differently that other PCPs. JSB Beast will be accurate probably only up to about 70 meters and then they will start to be unstable. Monster Redesigns will be stable further but also not pass 100 meters... For best performance, you will need to use slugs.

Two-piece swaging die? This I have to see... I imagine it would be very time-consuming to use it
@gregorkamensek39236 жыл бұрын
Not as much as you might think as it is a "multi die" design...
@charlespeffley6 жыл бұрын
You should look into the Corbin Swaging Press & dies - www.corbins.com/kits.htm#press - Also the reason for the boat tail design is simple... with supersonic projectiles the most drag is on the nose, whereas with sub-sonic projectiles most of the drag is on the base of the projectile...so the boat tail design reduces the drag on the base of the bullets.
@gregorkamensek39236 жыл бұрын
HI. Yes, I know about Corbins... I never used them though. I agree about the drag theory you mentioned, that is why all my newly designed slugs have boat tail...

Hi Gregor, I just received my HUBEN K1 and the SWGGING KIT HUBEN. but I do not know what is the diameter of the lead wire used, and how long do I have to cut the wire to get 44-grain and 36-grain pellets ?
@gregorkamensek39236 жыл бұрын
It is quite simple; the wire must be thinner than the pellet so get the first diameter available smaller than 5,5 mm. The length you adjust by the weight; it has to be slightly bigger than the pellet is in the end (the pellet is about 36 grain, so make it about 38 of more).

Good day - is this a test result after making the slug from this mold/die kit? Do you have the 2018 version gen 2 of the Huben K1 in .22 cal. Which is the most accurate slug you have used on Huben?
