The Howlin' Wolf singles had the best repeating riffs there ever were in the blues. And Hubert was responsible for many (most?) of them.
@sammack15644 жыл бұрын
Almost all. He left Da Wolf for a short period in the 50's to play with Muddy but he played on all key 60's recordings.

That's a really nice little video. Thanks so much for uploading it. A very respectable bit of vocals and a band really enjoying their craft. So am I right that Hubert was 78 when this was recorded - that's how he should be remembered, playing beautifully and enjoying his Blues!

This is actually David Johansen singing, but Mick Jagger really has a brother involved in music, his name is Chris Jagger, check it on youtube ...

This is so weird to me,I have been living directly across the street from Hubert's house for 9 years & I knew he played in a band,but I did not know that he was a legend. He was never home,I knew that much. When he died we did not know. His house sold for $500 or something like that,I did not get a chance to enter his home until yesterday and saw all those awards he got and magazines he was in. I wish I had of had more time to talk to him. I thought he recently died,didn't know it's been 2 years

Wow, That is David J from the NYD on vocal? Wouldn't have seen it if someone had not mentioned it below. Sounds a bit (wee bit) like the Wolf. Mostly because of the growl. Hubert contributed more to the sound of the 60s and 70s scene than we will ever know. Hear a rumor that Clapton didn't like his Killing Floor cause it was too difficult to nail....

As much as I LOVE David Johansen, no one can hold a torch to the vocals of Howlin Wolf. David's certainly a lot better than most, but the Wolf man's voice was second to none. Kind of the Aretha Franklin of male vocalists as far as I'm concerned. Untouchable.

Are you deaf people comparing the guys vocal to Wolf is a travesty and silly to boot granted after the first verse he at least stays in key that is. bout it ,no power at all.

He's the legendary David Johansen!!!
@swit48506 жыл бұрын
grow the hell up. "poser"??? old saying about finger pointing: -this is not verbatim but shore i close "when you have two fingers pointed at someone else, there are three back at you."...or are you simply JEALOUS coz he can sing with the big dogs and maybe you cant...
@huskvarsm9 жыл бұрын
omg the singer is awful he needs to dress his age he looks really silly you can see he spends more time on his thinning hair and clothes than he does glueing in his false teeth :)
@CarefulObserver8 жыл бұрын
+huskvarsm He sounds a lot like Howlin' Wolf. And that singer is a legend: David Johansen of the NY Dolls, also known as Buster Poindexter of "Hot Hot Hot" fame. He doesn't look any worse than Jagger.
@randychester22868 жыл бұрын
+CarefulObserver Yeah, he sounds more like Wolf than anyone I've ever heard!
@DucksDeLucks8 жыл бұрын
+Randy Chester I was thinking the same thing! I was looking around for Wolf and since he obviously wasn't on the stage I was wondering if this was "reverse karaoke"! But he does look kind of Tony Perkins' mother in Psycho.
