If House really cared, he wouldn’t take the pill. He chased her, he almost destroyed her relationship with Lucas, he made her fall in love with him even more, she relaized she’s not happy with the perfect idealized Lucas and went for House and what he did? Kissed her, slept with her and told her it won’t work. So why did he chase her? Just to finally have sex with her when he knew she wanted something serious? He could’ve just say, no, it won’t work and don’t play with Cuddy’s feelings.

Watching this again after seeing the whole show, it makes it even more obvious how all this, all Cuddy, meant a lot to House. He did a big move at that point. He tried the greatest best he could so the relationship could actually work. And he missed a lot of chances he didn't have to miss. It changed him in many ways. Idk if this is a popular opinion or not, but I hated Cuddy after she broke up with house and ripped his heart out. House is the way he is, she's known that for years she would never be able to change him. She tried to tame him and make him to be more of a traditional boyfriend, but House isn't traditional. He shows that he loves her, just in weird twisted ways that only make sense to him. She let one moment make her forget years of seeing how he is and then broke his heart when she realized what she's known for years.

This was literally like maybe the second or third episode of house I saw and I remember then thinking “why won’t he be there for her?” And honestly, I still think the same thing. It was incredibly infuriating (but sadly not out of character) for him to just leave his girlfriend when she clearly wanted him to be there. Over the course of their relationship, he never really did anything. Some people have said that when they broke up she was being selfish and abusive, but really, I agree with her. House might’ve been just an emotionally stunted person who tried to change, but eventually he couldn’t. And why would she raise her kid with an addict?

The entire POINT of House's "arc" in this show should have been to eventually find happiness. And they showed that so well in season 6, when he finally broke down, hit bottom, and found EVERYTHING to get better, including love in her. Season 7 should have been the blossoming of that. They should have talked after the episode with the mother and got back together and that should have been it. But they did a whole bunch of other twists just for the sake of it. I liked it but I would have preferred it this way
