"I think, I feel, I believe" is the progression of judgment. "I don't think you can" is the first tolling of The Couple's Death Knell. Good call, Cuddy.

Good point, McGregor. House finally cared, making him extremely vulnerable. This was new territory and coping to new stresses (like fear of his girlfriend DYING) was likely to trigger a familiar setback. But that setback was generated by love, not malice - an enormous change for House. In my opinion, Cuddy wanted "Mr. Perfect" and not Gregory House. What's dangerous is that Cuddy turned off both her human compassion and doctor sense. Cuddy chose to ignore the risks of being judgmental and abruptly severing such an important relationship with House. Any empathetic person could figure out what would happen next. House would break, completely. Which explains why House took a car for a ride into Cuddy's living room, later on.

What she should've said was that House would never really be happy until he's willing to stop using the vicodin as a cure all.
@alyssaheller78602 жыл бұрын
Yeah. The thing about drug addiction, pretty convenient thing for everyone else to focus on and ignore their own issues. Many drug addicts, in my experience recognize they have a problem. They usually are selective on who they acknowledge that to, because of the harsh judgement and severe criticism they get. Also, addiction is a symptom of a problem, NOT the primary problem. Keeping House off drugs will do anything , really, without treating the ACTUAL problem. Even if you successfully keep àn addict away from drugs, they will find just something else to self-medicate, to find relief, from what he is hiding from. The real issue is usually major depression but it could also be severe anxiety, personality disorders, bipolar disorder (any of the mood disorders), schizophrenia, other psychotic illnesses, eating disorders, etc the list goes on. Without compassion and understanding that addiction is a symptom, you will NEVER help a drug addict. They will never stay clean. Just treating the addiction, the one symptom is how we got to the "once an addict, always an addict" mentality. There has been new and incredible, eye-opening research into addiction but it is still horribly understudied. And it is and has been because of how long people and society have thought of addiction as a character flaw, a moral weakness. It is NOT. Addiction is a symptom of an illness. And it is treatable. But only if you dont get preoccupied with just ONE symptom of the overall illness.

This is from my memory, but House changed many things for Cuddy. House had a really good masssager, one that actually aliviate his leg's pain, the problem is that she was one of House's call girls, even if he did nothing with her, so...because of Cuddy, he stopped getting his massages from her. House was never a kid's person, but we all know what he did for Rachel. Cuddy's mom? How hard he worked to safe her? He even was "nice" to her. My point being, he really tried, a lot, he changed and he both were happy. Granted, Cuddy knew Houses's selfdestructive tendencies, but...he hold on to the last moment, he was desperate to save her, so, he relapsed to have his mind clear and think like the genius he really is. After all of that, Cuddy should have given him one last chance...a thin one, but a chance. Then, if he failed, even by a small margin, she had all the right to end their relation. That being said, as everybody else said, the actress was leaving the show, bla bla bla...so, shitty way and reason to end their relation.

Sure, the show constantly says House might die of liver disease because of it, but we have seen him off the meds and it was horrible, both the leg pain and the withdrawal. How much does the pain go away after House completes his detox from Vicodin? His leg muscles won't regenerate and the chronic pain will return. Addiction mostly is a bad thing, House might just be an exception.

This break up is so stupid. Like she knows he’s in pain every single day. She knows he’s afraid of any kind of pain and yet she still breaks up with him making him distrust relationships more because relationships hurt him. The relationship could have been a start to fixing his pain and distrust problem. That’s why he said being alone is better. He didn’t lie about taking Vicodin, he was really afraid of losing something because losing something hurts him. It’s like every time there is fix for House’s pain, it doesn’t happen. Literally no one actually understands him and no one helps him. He’s even willing to change himself. He’s stuck in this unending cycle of pain when all he really wants is to be pain free and have a happy life.

She was so wrong! Opiate addicts feel pain, especially longterm addicts. I was a active addict for 14 years, and one in recovery for 11, and pain is all addicts know. I'm talking deep deep pain, and then Shame, so turning on him in that moment , for a single backside, during a time of extreme pain and fear is to much, I can see being upset, hurt, disappointed, which I assure you he was as well, but walking away is just going to make it worse.

@beentheredonethat59082 жыл бұрын
@@Splintz246 Very true. Pain pills flood the system and the brain and body stop making natural painkillers that we all have. The only way to make the pain stop then is to stop the pills, withdrawal, and the body will start the process back up naturally. The withdrawal is the hard part for some people. Depending on how long you've been taking them, ot can be brutal. I feel for people going through this, today and anyday, it's a form of living hell.

7:18 The problem wasn't that House didn't care, he also didn't choose (only) himself. The Vicodin was his shield so that he can be there for her because he cares, he didn't take drugs to be there for His regular patients but only with her (emotional ties) the real problem she was seeing was House didn't have what it takes to be there for her from his own power rather he seek power from an external sources. This should have been a realization that he also needs support not in a physical way but a mental/emotional way. House stuck by her side no matter what, cuttie on the other hand did not do the same for him rather she protected herself by leaving his side.. what she called selfish in House was a reflection of her as well, perhaps apart of her she doesn't too much enjoy. At the end of the day like does attract like energy.

This show did Edelstein wrong. This was them nudging her along because she had the nerve to expect to be treated like an important member of the cast. A male actor wouldn't have been seen as replaceable t&a. Edelstein was amazing in this role. I've loved her since The West Wing, which should have kept her around longer. Producers of House had the nerve to label her demanding and difficult to work with. Yeah. Male actors are such easy-going people pleases. Huddy was doomed because she was going off the show, not because the story didn't work.

The really maddening thing about this is that Cuddy goes forth to avoid dealing with Houses' addictions by dating people who either don't really feel negative emotions (para-psychopats like that borderline crazy guy who she ends up with) or people who don't have negative events in their lives (like that "perfect guy" that she was dating when house drove his car into her house)....both type avoid pain altogether, while House deals with pain almost daily as a doctor but tempers it with Vicodin and a wicked sense of humor (plus the frequent resolution of medical problems that might turn fatal). Cuddy in this case FLAMES the man who literally made the masses in her lungs go away and in so many ways at so many times has been there for hre and with her.... While he was on Vicodin. As he usually is. ...and she says "no. It wasn't really you with me. It was you and the Vicodin with me". Suddenly when SHE is the patient, NOW she has "clarity". Make of that what you will, folks...make of that what you will.

To play the broken record for a moment, not only did Cuddy give up on house immediately but if anything she only made him worse by doing it. He got vengeful and even dangerous in his anger towards her. Leading him to almost become homicidal and drive a car through her dining room. It almost felt like she was taunting him, which seems to also prove that she could never settle down because even the slightest bend in their relationship for House begininning to struggle and she literally gave up. Cuddy was a great character but I think her theme was just that she almost always seemed to give up by the end.

Unfortunately this was all due to Lisa's contract being up and due to salary negotiations not panning out to her liking, she decided to leave the show. They had to write a script that unfortunately was out of character for both House and Cuddy in order to write her off. Personally, they should have just killed her off, would have made much more sense and been a good catalyst for House losing it so drastically again. I hated the show when this happened...I basically just pretend the show ended when they first get together and that's it. Lisa leaving really did ruin the character arcs to a point where it just wasn't the same show after that. But to each their own, definitely still love House ❤️

It's one thing to wholeheartedly UNDERSTAND someone's self-destructive behaviour and a completely other thing to LIVE with someone with self-destructive behaviour. I think it's very mature to know and respect your own limits. When you're with someone who has a serious addiction, you're not really with that person. You're with that addiction. It's all-consuming.

You would think someone in the medical profession would know that relapses happened and it's only failure if he doesn't get back on the wagon. You would think someone in the medical profession would also understand that fear of grief and grief itself test us harder than anything else ever will and that he'd let her in enough to fear her situation being able to actually inflict pain and in his own way admitted that instead of running away far before this. You would think that knowing him for this long she would know how radical it is for him to beg her not to leave. But who needs consistent characterization that makes sense when you just want a quick write out and don't want to bother to make it meaningful for a character who's been around for this many seasons in your show. As a writer who would die for a role in a show like this God this makes me angry.

Sends him to the wrong house on Thanksgiving after a whole day of being polite and genuinely nice to clinic hour patients, even hiring a maid to be waiting for him to say "Cuddy said to offer you a turkey sandwich." while cutting back to Cuddy and her new man laughing, smiling, smirking and so on in their other house.
