On 2 Nov. 2016 a select group of us “seniors” lol had the pleasure of being “comped in” to one of HLN’s final shows! We were fellow musicians with Huey and Johnny Colla and went to Solano College in Vallejo, CA with Johnny. HLN EMERGED from the Northern Cali hotbed of bands, JC Silverheels, Cottonmouth, etc. We were “fans” of each other’s groups. Huey and friends came to our concert at the Concord Pavilion when it first opened (so we were told that night). That was the Arm & Hammer Blues Band that came to and end in 1971 when my Twin and I entered the USAF. We do cherish our connection and memories to these phenomenal Musicians. And they are even better as great friends. Be Well, Brothers🏆🎸🎹🥁🎤🎼🎶Multiple Platinum Artists 🎖️🥇🎖️🥇🏆🏆 AND MORE TO COME 🥰

I feel like the best songs from Small World and the best from Hard At Play should've been on a single album in 1988 or 89. I'm sure that would've been another big hit for Huey, it's just that by 1991-92 the 80s rock sound was already fading away, so songs like this never got a chance.

For me, that album would look like 1. Small World Part 1 2. Build Me Up 3. It Hit Me Like A Hammer 4. Perfect World 5. Couple Days Off 6. That's Not Me 7. Better Be True 8. Small World Part 2 9. He Don't Know 10. Give Me The Keys 11. Slammin' 12. Time Ain't Money I'm not a big fan of either albums to be honest. Small World I can appreciate for a few aspects but it has a lot of duds and Hard At Play has a few highlights but it's a very unremarkable and mostly forgettable album that loosely resembles the band that they were on Sports

Written by Huey Lewis and Mutt Lange. The song itself has Mutt trademarks: harmonies, power chords, 'missing' bass coordination with bass drums. You will hear them again with AC/DC, Foreigner, Cars, Def Leppard, Bryan Adams + Shania Twain to name a few musicians. 🐕 Nearly 10 years after Mutt Lange's Do You Believe in Love was a hit! Lange + Huey Lewis wrote this. Should have been higher in the Billboard charts. Underrated! October 25, 1991, 20 years ago Bill Graham saw them in concert in the SFBA. Then he took a helicopter ride to see another musician. But the copter crashed and Graham died. Big Bay Area musicians performed in a benefit concert shortly afterwards. Eddie Money dedicated I'll Get By to Him. RIP Bill Graham. In 1991, in addition to HL, Mutt Lange wrote for Eddie Money. Most of the year Mutt Lange cowrote with, coproduced with + sang backing vocals with Bryan Adams. Everything I Do I Do It for You was the biggest hit that year! 🤯 30 years in 2021 😎 😎

Love this one from '91. I think someone said this was their last hit, but does anyone remember "100 Years From Now" off their Greatest Hits in '97? Radio stations around here gave it some play.

Plot twist: Eddie the fake receptionist from Die Hard survived a bullet to the head and is currently undercover earning a living as a singer. His new album features the smash hit single : "There's something wrong...they're coming back down". He wrote it after the clever arrangements at the Nakatomi building went awry and his boss Hans Gruber kissed the car park at 80 miles per hour. It's a chartbreaker....

This is a great song to listen in the car when going for a long drive or stuck in traffic. The Classic Rock of the 80s was the best decade. I have seen 5 of their concerts and all of them put on a great show. This is a question to answer. Who are those four women in the video?

I've actually had this song playing in my dream last night but for some odd reason in the dream I've thought Huey Lewis was doing a little bit of rap in some portions of the song.

Just a bit of a tough call, but when all said and done, this *is* their best song. Jacob's Ladder a close second.

This was IMO Huey Lewis's last great single he's ever done, I didn't care much for his later adult contemporary singles he would be doing soon afterwards.

Only song I liked from the 1994 Four Chords album was "But Its Alright". To me that's the VERY last song in Huey's classic sound (despite being a cover lol). I agree though, I also love the bluesy ballad "he don't know" which never really took off, even VH1 only played it a few times.

I am with you on this one! The other hits were written by outsiders. In the 1990s, the music execs took a different direction for pop music.

@@xennial80sxberner The JJ Jackson cover of "But its Alright" by Huey was fantastic, problem was by 1994 nobody cared about a 60's cover even if it was awesome.
