Streamer fishing Episode 5, by far the most anticipated videos on my channel, takes me to a small creek that is local to me. I chased after some brown trout and lucked into my biggest ever. I hope you guys enjoy these big brown trout in tiny creeks!

I totally get it man. I just went streamer fishing yesterday. Walked over a mile and got skunked. I moved quite a few fish and had them almost take, but never fully hooked one. You have to hunt for ideal conditions. Also, you only get really one or two passes at a large fish before they get wise. If one goes after big fish you have made a conscious choice to basically one catch none or a small handful in a day, if you are lucky. Sure you could probably dry fly fish, or nymph fish, and the numbers might be high. However, the big boys likely aren't coming to net that day. Loved this video man. Thanks for explaining this is not a just go out and bring them right to the net with no effort. It truly is hunting and a lot of the times they win!

Tight Lining MD thanks man! I felt the need to explain that this isn’t easy for me. A lot of people watch the videos and think I just run around catching big fish all of the time which just isn’t true. Of course I don’t show everybody the hours and hours of useless footage I acquire lol I’m glad you liked the vid!

Occasionally I do. They're slightly more tricky because they move around a lot whereas browns tend to stick to a general area.

Enjoyed this one as usual,intro was good,most have no idea the work, planning,and hours that goes into catching above average brown trout. I decided this year,I wasn't gonna fish anything but streamers,and since early March I've caught 6 browns over 20 inches,3 of which were over 24. In 35 years of fly fishing,this is the best big fish year I've ever had...So yeh,I understand your addiction.

Had a great day fishing in Colorado yesterday, I caught 15 trout in total, mostly brown trout and I caught a 3 1/4 pound rainbow. The locals weren’t getting shit. I feel like a real pro. I’m super addicted to fishing now. But I think I really want to just fish to keep to eat because trout are really sensitive and die easily.

@@hardmanfishing Hey Jon, I saw some of the comments about handling the fish and its obvious you are taking precautions and tying to handle them respectfully. If your interested check out an article on Gink and Gasoline ( You May Be Killing Steelhead And Not Even Know It). It definitely made me rethink my release skills. Trout are more fragile than we thought and just because they swim away looking strong that might not be the case. Keep at it, learning and improving is what makes it fun and challenging.

Stay humble, keep grinding and hopefully I will share a Western MD stream with you later. Also, according to my credo, based on Troutbitten.com, you have to name that fish. Anything that is 20 or over is a "whiskey" and you take a shot. Anything over 24 is a "namer". So that one you gotta give it a name. Look forward to seeing what you call it!

I really appreciate what you do. You have a good channel! Please be more mindful having fish out of water that long or sitting in the net without getting moving water through their gills. I fly fish in CO and we are mostly purists, but it’s better for the fish in the long run Thanks again
@hardmanfishing
@hardmanfishing 5 жыл бұрын
That big fish was sipping emergers 10 minutes after I released it. I understand your concern to an extent but I also think that at some point the "purists" need to draw a line. Instead of critiquing somebody like me (who practices catch and release, practices correct techniques, and preaches them) you should spend more effort helping to teach the massive amount of anglers that do not know the first thing about trout release techniques. This is just my opinion though, tight lines and thanks for watching!
@HeliosDroneWorks
@HeliosDroneWorks 5 жыл бұрын
Fair point. I am a guide and teach people from a wide rang of abilities. Yet, I still learn something every time I go. I’m not sure if putting them back into the water makes me a purist or not. There is science behind keeping big breeding stock as healthy as possible. Not trying to start arguments, but I do think proper catch and release is key. It’s why I don’t watch other channels of people using big treble hooks and throwing fish into the water from a height. I also don’t think a fly is a lure. But that might be a terminology difference from state to state Keep posting...
@hardmanfishing
@hardmanfishing 5 жыл бұрын
Edub 1278 yeah man I wasn’t trying to argue either... and I only said purist because you brought it up. I do not think everybody who fly fishes and practices catch and release is a purist. I also say flies are lures because I fish for more than just trout. I grew up bass fishing with conventional gear so although I may say lure I truly mean fly. I’m just so used to calling them lures that I mess myself up sometimes. Thanks for watching! I wasn’t upset It just drives me insane when people comment on my C&R techniques when I see people lip trout and everything else. I feel like there are bigger issues to tackle then me leaving the fish out of the water for a few extra seconds... especially when I see the fish is fine.
