I have over 200 dolls (maybe 300 by now), and I don’t have kids, just a spouse. I’m fifty, so I think I can collect for a while, but when it looks like I have only a few years left, I am going to downsize my collection myself. Having been part of the team that was left to clean out the estate house of my semi-hoarder in-laws, I don’t want to leave that to anyone. At the very least, have an inventory on a spreadsheet and update annually with the estimated value. This is something I also need to work on. That way if someone needs to clean your place out in a hurry and can’t sell it all, it’s good to know what expensive/rare items they should focus on and what they can donate. The largest asset my in-laws left was their house, and eventually we had to calculate the carrying cost of a vacant house while we worked in our little spare time to try to empty it vs. hiring someone to just take it all away. So, with costs of hiring someone and the value of what was left, that was probably over $10,000, but it was worth it to sell the house (which also could not be insured anymore because it had been vacant too long). Just some thoughts from someone with perspectives from both sides of the collecting/hoarding/inheritance situation.

I personally LOVE dressing doll videos!! Maybe because I don’t currently have any dolls so I’m living vicariously through you. The fun part of having the modern dolls is to dress them up especially after a haul like this! (The vintage dolls are too delicate to dress up as often lol). Honestly watching you dress them up and just listening to you talk about anything feels like I’m at a sleepover lol, it’s just relaxing and entertaining at the same time lol. Naming her after a Babysitters Club character is soooo fitting for her!! Very 90s!! I like Claudia or Christy.

The Slumber Party Kit was available for girls. It was in the Spring 1996 catalog (my own catalog I photographed the image from; it may have been in other catalogs from that time period). The girl sized kit had the same items created for the twins except it added a bag of confetti soap. Adult collectors were noticing the lack of confetti soap!

I am not a collector of the twins' stuff, but I had to get the Pizza Hut set... the happiness I feel just feeling the iconic red cup makes me giddy. I even went on Ebay and bought a real, vintage Book It! buttons to store with it.

My kids are already giving me grief about my "hoard". My husband is begging me to label all of the dolls...planning the estate sale. I like to see outfits on the dolls. I like a little critique of how the clothes fit. I also love the old Pleasant Company stuff because I always learn something.

Overalls and shoes!!! My favorite overalls are Kit’s hobo overalls and the Earth Day short-overalls. The Artist Outfit (1999-2001) has overalls similar to Nicki’s overalls (pocket straight across the top verses in a triangle top). They are another good basic piece. I love the brown boots for Kit’s hobo outfit. The black boots used in the 1999 Truly Me “Meet” outfit were also used for the gray school outfit (1996-2001). I have two pairs because I love more casual wardrobes. I am enjoying their new connection to the late 1990’s American Girl of Today dolls.

❤i love how you said that thing about tacky patterns and the South. My mother and her sisters are all GRITS...girls born in the South...literally GRITS so tacky patterns is in my blood. Tacky patterns, flowers and hats...over the top church lady hats so AG has gotten the memo😂. Great reviews by the way. I do like the dressing doll videos only because of your commentary which seems to come naturally with you. I also think people are more relaxed when their minds are not overwhelmed or over thinking. I've been cheated by sellers to not want to deal with vintage dolls anymore. So, AG having new dolls that are diverse is a Godsend.😊 whoops GRITS...girls raised in the South.

I love Nicki's overalls! They're quite roomy and fit well even on my dolls from the mid 2000s. I also appreciate how you approach the changes AG has made. I've heard so many collectors complain about the jumper & boots, when the original ones weren't even good quality in the first place! The soles come off those boots and we all know about the jumper 🙃 I do think it would've been nice to have snaps, but I think the Velcro gives more wiggle room in case you want to put it on the larger AG, maybe even PC dolls. I would love the AG vs PC days video!

The overnight bag was a thing for girls back in the 90s! I had the flashlight and it worked. Had the bag and brush too. Such a fun kit. 90s girls remember. I had the full size bear too!

I like both the informational content and the dressing dolls video. Another KZbinr does a lot of 1 item, 10 looks videos for dressing dolls that I really enjoy. But I also really appreciate the informational videos, especially because there don't seem to be a lot of people doing that kind of video about American Girl. And I like seeing videos about the newer dolls and items, but I also really enjoy your videos about the older dolls and items. There also don't seem to be many people on KZbin covering the original historical dolls. You and I are similar ages -- I'm just a few years younger than you -- so the original PC, pre-Mattel dolls and characters (and a tiny bit of early Mattel transition) are the ones that are nostalgic for me. But I'm also enjoy seeing what new things AG comes out with.

Really enjoyed this, thank you for sharing! Love the haul. I would absolutely watch a dress my dolls video- I like to put them on while I'm dressing my own dolls. I would also LOVE a video about what you like about AG post-PC. Sometimes people treat PC like it was perfection and everything since has been awful, which seems pretty... well, it's an opinion! I love PC and the quality and attention to detail, but I also care about diversity and the dolls being a reflection of girls, and AG has been improving on that. So I would love your thoughts and opinions.

I’m a ‘truly me’ girl at heart; for me they’re big fashion dolls, and I love dressing and styling them. I’m someone who tends to embrace change positively so I love the new lashes and sculpts (notwithstanding the quality control issues of course) I own over 60 dolls at this point so I ended up selling some of my classic molds just to be able to integrate more of the newer dolls. Which is partly why I clicked on your video, I’m interested in adding 124 but was wondering how similar she is to Corinne who I already own. I’m not really that interested in acquiring old pleasant company stuff, I do have some in my collection as I just love Felicity and the pie bang GOT squad, but the prices are so ridiculous now I’d just rather buy handmade period gowns and modern outfits from Etsy and really enjoy styling my dolls 😊 I go a bit crazy at these semi-annual sales though!! The one going on right now is amazing and I was able to finish collecting Courtney’s mix and match 😍 Courtney is my girl! I like the Hoffman twins but the dolls themselves creep me out a bit for some reason.

I spent so much on AG in Dec. that I have Tiana coming in about a week (just ordered her to use Feb. expiring rewards) and she cost me nothing. Early Dec. they had 4x reward points and after Christmas they had "get $50 in rewards when you spend $250" so I bit. I ordered a second Evette and a second TM #75 boy doll because they were both only $65. They are still in their boxes. With the bonus rewards they gave you until March 31st to spend them but I used all ($150) to get Tiana and the orange Tabby cat. I think I still have some rewards coming March 8th but I'll see.
