I think they need to have a channel that plays the announcement on the t.v. If you want to hear them in your room you could keep it on that channel.

Gratuities are needed. The crew we have had have always done a great job! We even give more. Announcements do not bother us. At times, it's helpful. Let's hope they get the Vista fixed. We sail on her for New Years 🎉

I enjoy the announcements. Also, I would like them to come into the room. You can be in your room, or on your balcony, and you hear the chimes. Then you have to jump up, rush to the door and open it to actually hear the announcement.

That's it...the announcements....that's the only complaint? WOW, sounds like Carnival is doing a great job. No, I don't want announcements in my cabin unless it's really urgent. Might interrupt my sleep. LOL I do wish they were a bit louder in areas like the casino.

I remember when the suggested gratuities were $5/day. Back then they left you envelopes, normally 3, and you had to divide it up and give them to your servers, cabin steward and one other person. Though they have gone up so much it is much easier now!

We were on the Vista Aug 10 to 18, originally slated for Aruba, Curacao, and GT. We were disappointed, as expected, because of the itinerary change. We opted to remain on the cruise. We had a great time. Wonderful food and shows and people. We were all sad...some outraged...but the quality of the cruise was not lacking. Actually had some of our greatest Carnival experiences on this cruise. That JiJi restaurant was one of the best places I have eaten anywhere. On the flip side, life happens. Things don't always go to plan. Got to make lemonade out of life's lemons. And the Vista is trying hard to be a lemon 🍋

Royal Caribbean needs to get going on the new Discovery Class. It would be nice to get some newer smaller ships that can go to the places the bigger ships can't. Time to retire some of the older smaller ships. I get it with the bigger ships brings more money when they can pack more bodies on the ship. They are nice for us once, but we cruise for the itineraries. We now prefer longer cruises and more port intensive, that's just our preference and it's not for everyone. If it’s an important announcement, it’s ok to announce in your room. As far as cruise director speaking during the day, no problem with that, half the rime I can’t hear what their saying, especially when outside

My first cruise the first time I heard an announcement I was in bed sleeping, and I could hear something going off some type of speaker out in the hallway. I jumped up. It scared me because I thought the ship was going down.😂

I’ve saved activities that I’ve wanted to attend including onboard sales but got busy and forgot. Thanks to the announcements I’ve been able to rush to the sale or attend an event.

I don’t mind in cabin announcements as long as it’s an important one. Sometimes in the mornings I’m still getting ready and miss the announcements when they are in the public space. Maybe even put an option to turn the announcements off in your room if you prefer not to hear them.

I was on the Vista in April 2023. Our itinerary was changed from Falmouth to Montego Bay, which isn't much of a change. However, due to propulsion issues, our time in Grand Cayman and Cozumel was cut short. This is not new to this class of ship. One would think it would have been sorted out by now. The ship itself was fine and I would not have known anything about the propulsion issues, had there not been any changes. As I live in the Houston area, I am already booked on 3 sailings on the Jubilee; 10/2024, 8/2025 and 3/2026. I am excited they are now offering 8-day Bahama cruises for the future. Time to get that 4th sailing booked. As for the announcements, I personally enjoy them. They never bother me, as I am an early riser.

I always tip above the gratuities that I pay for on a cruise. I get the Cheers package and still tip at least $1 per drink. Always leave the room stewart a nice tip before we leave the ship. If you have any doubts about the gratuities, take the Behind the Fun Tour and see what these people do behind the scenes, they work their butt's off for this. Also, I voted for announcements in the rooms. I hate that every time an announcement comes on, I have to go open my cabin door so I can hear it.

We are on the Vista in October. I can be flexible but if they swap the ports to the Bahamas and just offer OBC I will be annoyed. We don't drink or gamble and are happy with all the free dining options so we would much rather have future cruise credit.

Our 9/7 cruise on Carnival Vista has been canceled., per email from Carnival about an hour ago. We were doing a back-to+back-to-back-to-back so have to wonder when they will let us know about the other legs.

When I’m in my cabin I open my door to hear the announcements. I prefer to NOT have it heard in my room unless it’s an emergency. The only time I’m in my cabin is to sleep and I’d rather not be disturbed unless it’s an emergency

Many, Many years ago they used to have the announcements in the cabin. I actually did not mind it. Now at it's a little difficult to hear and them so I wouldn't be opposed to having them in the cabin again.

I have to say, until last week we had only sailed Carnival, so the announcements were just "normal" to us. However, after sailing Royal last week, we noted that they make almost no announcements after the safety briefing on Embarkation Day. I have to say I did enjoy not hearing the announcements several times a day, but I wouldn't say the "bother" me when they make them on Carnival either.

I am praying that the Vista is fixed by my cruise in October. We’re on the Aruba cruise and we’ve never been to Aruba. We’ve been to the Bahama Islands so many times and would be disappointed if the itinerary is changed. Not upset, just disappointed. The announcements don’t bother me. I would like them in the cabin so I don’t have to open my door every time I hear an announcement being made. I wish the cruise lines would include the gratuities in the price of the cruise.

The announcements are not a problem. There are times when we forget about an activity while on the ship, and the announcement reminds us about it. When in the room and the announcements come on, one of us goes to the door to hear what's being said.

My only issue is they have raised it multiple times in such a short amount of time. And it isn’t just the gratuities but items like water. It adds up to quickly . Otherwise I have no issue.

Thanks for your great channel. It’s confusing that the Vista 9/1 is not canceled but the 9/7 is canceled, and passengers are getting a free cruise credit as well. Also if they dry dock her for engine repairs doesn’t that mean taking the ship to Cadiz, Spain? Or can they dry dock her in Miami? How many sailings will be canceled? I love the Vista class ships, but I’m worried about my upcoming cruise now!

I’m pretty flexible If something happens while aboard that causes a delay or change in itinerary or even ship maintenance problems. However, I will avoid booking on a ship that issues are apparent prior to booking ESPECIALLY if it’s ship maintenance

Unfortunately I see no Reason why all lines won’t increese gratuities and it is that is one way they use to help them make more money because they don’t need to spend it paying crew. But I might well be inclined to book a cruise on a ship offering a lower rate for all I wouldn’t complestly remove them I might be incinerated to cut them by say 50% and than give tops to crew who I felt provided good service. The Vista just seems like a pretty beat-up ship. We sailed it in 2022 & I was shocked at how old it looked already. It was built in 2015, but the floors on the outside decks had a lot of damage & the elevators were slow. Knowing it has propulsion issues, I’d probably never sail on it again. As far as the announcements, I think it’s annoying that ppl don’t shut up so that you can hear them! And I’d like to hear them in the cabin. It’s awkward to have to stand in your doorway to listen lol.

How long has this problem been going on with the Vista now,? It's been a few years. It seems obvious to me that there's some kind of design flaw involved here, especially when you factor in that other Vista class ships in Carnival's fleet have propulsion issues. Carnival is in a tough spot, they can't scrap it. But I have a feeling this is going to be an ongoing issue as long as it's in service. As for in cabin announcements, I've often thought I wish they had a switch on the wall I could flip to get all announcements or just emergency announcements. I know that often they have a TV channel that can do that, but you don't always have the TV on and invariably I find myself running to the door and opening it to hear the announcement. Will Carnival raise gratuities? LOL C'mon man, you know they will. The ONLY question is "How soon?"

I wouldn’t book the Vista. The ship not being able to reach max cruising speed isn’t an issues until there is an emergency. Like need to get out of the way of a storm and being able to power through rough seas.

This is the core issue. I absolutely agree. I was on a cruise in the past that was able to avoid a hurricane. The major hurricane hit two of the islands we visited. We never knew there was even a storm...beautiful weather.I respect Carnival for not taking the risk with Vista during the peak of hurricane season.
