In 24 the only reason to do the x factor sets was to get a player that had toty potential like McDavid and only power that card so it makes the trade in better. There were a few that were ok to power up but not really worth it outside of TOTY players. I'm not saying I love what they did in 25 but saying they were perfectly fine in 24 is a stretch

ya except we had rewards last year. this year mcdavid is basically locked behind a huge paywall, theres also not even one xfactor per team and they dont even all upgrade

I kept some xfactors till the end. Had Eichel, Hughes, Makar, Mcdavid. Some were good enough to upgrade. Now you don’t have a way outside of full grind. At least before you could either grind for team builders or go the long way with xfactors. Not a fan. Also why move away from power ups? That was a good move to simplify and unify upgrade mechanics. Its like they think we appreciate having to relearn new upgrade paths instead of playing new interesting games with interesting content.

I can't stand this new x-factor system it's so against F2P, like all the progress ea made last year making it easy for F2P is gone from what ive seen. and noe its is just annoying to get xfactors and like you said it's kinda dumb how the ones for upgrading are locked to a certain rating.

Pulling XF Mcdavid last year from a daily pack was my highest point in 24 😂 shame that you cant pull him or captains from XF packs....can they be pulled in any pack?

Overall I like some of the changes, in particular XP path but agree with you 100% at first glance from everything I've seen there are not enough grindable rewards. I have never spent anything on packs and never will and for the past 3 years, I've had god squads as there was more than enough to grind for. This year, right now it doesn't look like that's the case. I do remember last year when NHL24 came out EA tried to restructure the Rivals and SB rewards but faced so much backlash from the community they backtracked and reverted back to the previous reward structure. I bet the same thing will happen if everyone is pissed at launch and sales suffer.

Especially if you’re not afraid of spending an extra $2,000 at launch. Absolutely insane that they realized last year it was profitable to sell packs where users could by their team builders and they simply changed how XFactors are this year so it allows (rewards) users who will pay 💰 a huge amount to obtain XFactors and Team Builders! I am really disappointed in this continued approach to get more money! What happened with the notion of making a great product for a fair price and standing behind the quality of your product! Yes… I am old!

In NHL 24, when you go to team settings and change your team’s play-by-play name and goal horn, it never saved and didn't actually do anything. Has that been fixed in NHL 25?

My brother, free to play players have been getting screwed by EA for years. Them making it even harder for us is nothing new. Another year where I won’t even think about playing HUT. They could adopt SDS style ultimate team and they wouldn’t lose the MTX money because the people who buy those packs are addicted to it.

I wouldn’t want Eklund as a base XF as he can’t upgrade. Ferraro should have had born leader. He’s an alternate and pseudo captain with couture out, plus born leader gives you a boost when you block shots.

Last year I was F2P and had such an amazing team despite checking out around TOTS. Saved up enough cards to make four TOTYs and had a great time playing. This year I first of all had to sell my xbox one x to buy a series s (since this is the only game I'm playing) and buying a game where they've removed my favorite part.. pack openings.. Yeah I never get anything good but just getting amounts of cards make it worth it with sets later on. How many cards are we actually going to get now? I really love that they're doing something else but the lowering of rewards and doing the XFs in the same style as the Icons was last year.. Yes they got a lot of cred for the setup with icons.. since it makes sense to have that setup at icons. I did not like the amount of XFs with only getting to pull 1 or 4 in the packs. The main change XFs needed was giving us a higher amount of cards to pick from in the packs, 4 was not enough.

From what I see the issue here with fodder is that they lowered the amount of cards you get in a pack which is ok…. But they didn’t adjust the amount of cards you need to trade in for the sets!! Like 38 75+ could be like 40 packs. @ea

Looking forward to creating a new spreadsheet/query/pivot and figure this out. I played some Rush and SB in ‘24, maybe the 3 or 4 times, played most of Rivals and Champs right up to this week. I am still 100 short of those XP cards for a 99. If it’s setup close to that algorithm, no chance for F2P. I tracked my packs for the last 20-25 weeks, didn’t pull many 85+ cards, only in the juiced up weeks, see how that math works out.

That’s the only thing that EA cares about is HUT but they do it in a way where they can make the most money and it’s not even fun to the players playing the game. Ultimate team back in NHL 11 when it first started when you have a player for about 100 games and you give them an 80 game contract to keep the salary down and then you could upgrade them to your liking so basically your building the team around the way you play and what players suit your play style the most. Where now EA wants you to buy cards that are already set to their overalls and they make you pay five times the amount of pucks then what it used to be so I just gave up on ultimate team lol Please EA why don’t you just bring back the ultimate team that you guys had when you first started doing it in NHL 11 those were the fun days 🥹
