Have you ever hit the paint with a clay bar? I hear that cloth making abrasive sounds when you wipe it as if there is contaminants in the paint. I hit my 2.7 with the clay bar then waxed her and that paint is smooth and contamination free. Well worth the time and effort. Great video and have a great day!

6:40 The stock waste gates are closed at idle. I know this because I used a vacuum pump to open them and drive my truck without boost. The turbo still come on around 2500 rpm because they are so small.

I'm curious to see some data on flow and spool time. Another point to touch on is that with easier flow into the engine and out the exhaust, you get lower cylindwr temps and EGT, which helps with knock resistance. In theory, you should be able to get more aggressive with timing on the new turbo setup.

Well here’s the unofficial data from what I’ve seen so far. Lag is a lot more, but it seems to spool enough air on the low end to still have decent response. However, from a 3rd gear pull starting at about 3000 rpm, it doesn’t fully spool till 4300 rpm. So there is boost building lag from 3000-4300. And the tune has the wastegates shut from the time I go WOT till it starts building Boost. We’ll see how the tuning goes as we continue forward.

@@BoostKingMatt oh wow. And based on our conversation on IG the other day, it sounded like you're sitting at a pretty low boost level. It's that still the case here?
@BoostKingMatt Жыл бұрын
@@gggaskins8192 Yes. The 3rd gear pull I made the other day was 17 psi with wastegate at 38% closed, 100% is all the way open on my truck. Stage 4s were doing 22.5 psi with 10% closed. That was pretty much maxed out. Safe to say these turbos have the capability to run more boost than I’d ever run.
@kriswinger9391 Жыл бұрын
Definitely alot bigger turbos than the OEM ones! Only thing with turbos "that" much larger than stock is that there would be more noticeable turbo lag. Obviously good tuning will help mitigate some of that, but it will be noticeable. And adding another turbo (like a turbo diesel) isn't an option as these EcoBoost 2.7 + 3.5 liter V6's are already twin turbo engines. A higher stall torque converter on your transmission would also help, especially with launching your truck off the line, but that's obviously quite a bit more cost too. What aftermarket intercooler are you running? That's next on the list for my 2022 Ford F-150 XLT 2.7 EcoBoost 4x4!
@BoostKingMatt Жыл бұрын
Yes you are right. There is a lot more lag than the stock turbos. There’s more lag than the stage 4s even. But we are working on tuning right now still. I have the CVF Titan Intercooler.

Do u know if the 2.7 r having issues with coolant lines going to the turbos like the 3.5 is having? If so r there updated lines or should I go to after market turbos to have better lines/connection, just in the market for a truck and trying to figure out what engine to get for reliability, I do tow but only 3 thousand pounds so I think each option has plenty of pwr for a work truck and fro. What I see the 2.7 is more reliable and gets better mpgs, what r your thoughts?
@BoostKingMatt23 күн бұрын
@@jd-it4on well I have a 3.5L now. I get about 20mpg on bigger turbos and 91 octane fuel. It is more of a powerhouse than the 2.7 obviously, but the 2.7 is no slouch and can tow very well too. Biggest thing is making sure you change the oil very frequently especially if you’re working the motor hard. The 2.7 does not have the same coolant line connections like the 3.5

Is there any similar turbos for the 2015 3.5 ecoboost ? , i ordered the garret powermax stage 1 and i dont know if i should had waited
@BoostKingMatt4 ай бұрын
Well, if you want to make 800whp or more I would have gotten the CRP Garrett stage 2 upgrade. CRP took the Garrett Stage 2 turbos and fitted a 52/72mm compressor wheel to them and bored them out larger.
@seacradev5400 Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't recommend any but turbobay. They made mine for my SHO, turbobay makes a new turbo. Even a new waste gate. CR just mods the wheels and they do not rebuild the turbo.

@StephenM-zd5vw good. I liked the stage 4s, however the Turbobay turbos were pretty sweet. Yes they are a lot bigger than stage 4s. Stage 4s had a compressor wheel of 43mm/56mm and the Turbobay ones have 50mm/65mm compressor wheels and the turbine was 50mm 10 blade versus stage 4 with 45mm 8 blade.
