I’d say another HUGE issue in trucking currently is all the no speaky no English diaper wearing red dots who don’t give a crap about the road laws, they can’t or won’t read the road signs, they speed, cut ppl off constantly and act like they own the roads. Way too many of them especially in California. Not to mention they’re the ones over saturating the trucking industry and taking all the freight.
@timtravels116Ай бұрын
There’s an easy solution. If the ATA and OOIDA and all these huge trucking companies demanded substantially more enforcement and intervention, then the cost of doing business for these clowns would become too great. But the truth is the millionaires running trucking companies are too shortsighted to ever stand up for the driving public and their drivers.
@ChromaPrismaАй бұрын
@@timtravels116 exactly right. They’re cheap labor so it’s a no brainer for these companies to shovel freight at them so they can keep raking in money. Paying like 40 cents a mile to the driver while they get 3 or 4 dollars per mile.

When I was doing sprinter van driving one of the companies I absolutely was not an independent contractor even though that's what the contract said

That case is going to have a gigantic impact if it affects anyone working in IL, a trucking company can avoid CA, you cant avoid IL lol

99% of Illinois trucking companies are breaking the law that went into effect in March about who can be defined as IC

Every time I see an Amazon trailer it’s always a small trucking company and a foreigner.

As usual informative video. This is why insurance rates are so high and will keep rising.

Corporations are also being greedy as well. They know they can push up prices while blaming it on inflation

In Illinois we are probably going to start seeing billboards of lawyers up advertising lawsuits on trucking companies for these 1099’s
@philosophicaltrucker9279Ай бұрын
Good, paying 1099 only benefits the carrier.

Driving in packs has always puzzled me. One of the best things I learned from my mentor was to drive with bubbles.

So are you saying drivers where their company is stationed in Illinois can sue their company for misclassification? For unpaid workmens comp, unemployment, ssi , etc?
@timtravels116Ай бұрын
@@indo3052 No. I’m saying that if a driver drives through Illinois, they could sue for misclassification under Illinois law based on how the court has ruled. It doesn’t matter where the company is based.

wouldn't have near these problems if everybody would use CB's. most trucks on the road today don't even have antennas
@timtravels116Ай бұрын
I’ve never had a CB but every truck I’ve driven had an antenna. Several models have antennas on the back of the cab.

@@timtravels116 you need to get one and use it. there is a wealth of information (along with a bunch of bullcrap) that could keep you out of trouble.

The driver that killed all of the bikers was found not guilty by a jury fairly recently. He’s fighting to get his CDL back now.
@timtravels116Ай бұрын
Wow. Do you know why he was acquitted other than reasonable doubt? Was one of the bikers intoxicated?
@TheWiggleWagoneerАй бұрын
@@timtravels116 The lead biker was impaired and the judge dismissed impaired driving charges against the driver. I didn’t read why those charges were dismissed. The article I read at the time didn’t say much and I just looked to refresh my memory, but didn’t do a deep dive to see if I could find more. We are stuck with a blowout and waiting for a road assist, so I will see if I can find more info while we’re waiting.

Add foreigners who can’t read English to the crash equation.

I always say it if you cannot read the signs you should not be allowed to drive in America period. Way too many foreigners out here ruining it for us.

@@midwestteediamondhands5460 I can add that but even someone who speaks zero English should be able to understand speeding and following too close.

Yeah, but I don’t understand what this changes because even when you’re 1099 with a company the company can still be liable when it comes to being sued from the drivers actions. So technically, what differences it make
