As Sue & Noel has said before, as it's their choice to have a large family they want their kids to feel they have a normal upbringing, be able to have things other kids have & not feel left out like they should only get hand me downs etc. I feel a lot of people have too many children which they cannot afford & then rely on government assistance only, like in S.A. But the children suffer for their parents inconsiderate choices as not having enough food, clothing & money to fund basic living. Sue & Noel you can see work very hard for their family, show equal love for all their children and one can see they are invested in each child & for that l take my hat off to them. Love from South Africa

Love when you show your grocery hauls, especially Christmas! Reminds me of when we were kids in a family of 7, it was an entire day of supermarkets, butchers, and fruit shops on Saturdays, trying to find the best bargains, following our mum's lists. Then we would lay it out on the table before putting it away like this, and my sister and I would commentate to the invisible audience like we had our own show 😆 Always wanted a big family myself, and still enjoy a well executed grocery shop. Except it turned out to be just me and the cat, so not nearly as much fun! Doesn't take very long and can fit in two bags :/

@Archie12 I guess you are like me and remember when shops shut at lunchtime on christmas eve and din't reopen until January 2nd - providing that didn't fall on a sunday. 6 of us and it was a nightmare to get enough to ask, but guess what? We had a 100% track record of making the food last till the shops reopened, barely a crumb in the bread bin and chocolate at christmas in those days was 1 tub of quality street and a selection box. Turkey was used in so many ways we almost ended up clucking.

I enjoy seeing what other people get to, mainly because I live in New Zealand but my sister moved to the UK about 23 years ago. When I visited them I was fascinated by how cheap everything was. When her and her family visit us here they have to change how they eat based on the cost of food here. On average I spend about NZ$150 a week including toiletries, natural medications and cleaning products which is about £76. Looking at a similar shop I did in the UK it only cost about £40. The UK has a bigger market and can source products from other countries close by and our closet neighbour (Australia) is a 3 hour flight away.

I’m a uni. student in Scandinavia and have one cat and my total for a month is around £150 usually a little bit less. I grow my own veggies (renting a veggie patch from my city that’s £10 per year). Then I eat vegan food and cook from scratch, no processed food, no alcohol, soda on special occasions, majority of the groceries I buy are on a reduced price due to being close to the expire date. Meal prep every Sunday, and I cook organic food for my cat which costs more than my food😂❤ With a bit of planning you can make it work, even if you’re on a student budget and it’s inflation. It just takes a bit of planning ahead.

Was just watching your trip to Hamburg from a few years back, now this one loaded. My first thought before looking at the date was that Bonnie sure is small, then I saw this is today and then you said Heidie and I thought WOW! She is growing up! I imagine she is your last one wearing diapers, eh? Must be so strange to have so few in the house now, though of course sweet Ophelia needs them too. Still, different than 3-4 kids all using pampers etc multiple times a day! I love looking at all the different brands and foods that we do not get here in Canada. I lived in the USA for 30 years and they have even less options than we do here in Canada, I missed all my junk food. I think lots of the stuff we get here that they don't in the USA is actually from the UK! I love it! I liked seeing the Crunch Bar ice cream bars, we no not have those! YUM! We have Rolo and Coffee Crisp ice creams/hot chocolate packets here. Those wee yogurt things are very different from any here. Anyway, thanks for posting this, it is definitely fun to watch! @amsodoneworkingnow19783 жыл бұрын
Hi I agree with you. Some years ago my husband worked for a food production company while he was at uni. He told me off for my insisting on buying the branded named version of things like yoghurt, cream, fruit pots, rice corners, fresh fruit drinks and dairy and as I was and remain lactose intolerant non dairy items like butter, spreads and cheeses that he adored telling me that there were no difference except the wrapping or containers used by different companies. He like the rest of the staff were given a very generous weekly allowance where they could receive items to a certain cost in a bid to both say thank you to the workers and to remove any need for theft. I had always passed the non branded and budget items on to others as I believed that the high st store etc version was of a higher quality. My husband was working one week end at a last moment request from his manager who was aware we had an extremely important conference for our church in a venue close to the production plant but had been left in the lurch staff wise as one manager and two workers from one family had been in a traffic accident and then another production managers father had passed away with no indication he was in any way ill. He was desperate and managed to cover the family of threes spots by offering overtime but the production managers position ( which my husband led backside in) was a more detailed workload. Knowing we were booked up to be at the conference he offered my husband triple salary and arranged that our group of friends who we were attending with and myself came to the staff restaurant to eat so husband could spend a little time with the friends . Manager took myself on a tour of the place after friends had left while I waited for husband's shift to end and so I saw with my own eyes that what husband had told me was true no matter what flavour etc of yogurt was being potted or what the seller was from high st i.e.*&* to budget store variety each container was filled from same dispenser holding exactly the same produt. I never bought the branded items again though to be honest it was around 5years before I had to do so as husband continued to keep his job there after graduation . It's soluble as if you do check the list of ingredients on the most expensive and then the cheapest you will find no difference at all. The only time this is not the case is with the produce bought from the two German based "" cheaper" " stores that have gained popularity in past decade or so as these are produced under German hygiene standards (( far superior in my believe). So yes buy the own brand and own label options . The only time this method of bottling etc changes is when once the run has been completed and some of the say fruit juice remains in the dispensers then they are siphoned off from dispenser into a holding unit and frozen until more of same becomes available then as it has been frozen ( or simply refrigerated) until there is enough for a full run a little dilution has taken place so this is not perhaps as thick a product it then goes on sale as the individual stores version of everyday products. There may as I said be less thick but the taste and quality assurance remain as high a standard as the stores " best or top quality products " which by the way are also dispensed from same dispenser it's only the packaging that has been upgraded and of course the price

@@amsodoneworkingnow1978 My store has its own brand of canned goods (corn, beans,...) and I used to buy those because they were almost half the price of the branded versions. Unfortunately that type of e.g. corn just doesn't keep fresh that long (even looking at the "best before" date), even after only a month there are already a couple of brown pieces, while you can keep the brand-cans for months and won't get any of that. Also about stuff like orange juice: With the cheaper brands you often get a watered down version. The stores I think you're talking about also have to do a lot of product recalls, so they're not really worth the trouble for the slightly cheaper price imo.

Yes for a week , plus fresh meat delivery from the butcher . That was not a lot of food for a week . Even so Sue said the milk will last a day or two . Very little soft Drinks for the kids . In this hot weather . Apple and Orange juice , only . My Mum got a gallon container of Fruit Squash , every Monday and Wednesday . The Milk man loved us .

@@salyblack1009You don't need soft drinks or juice. You can get by drinking water. There's really no nutritional benefit drinking juice if you're eating plenty of fresh fruit. Of course, it's lovely to have them, but, they are costly and not necessary.

@@divahc1 ...exactly. My grand children drink a lot of water n hardly any juices cause alot have high sugar content.

@@salyblack1009 there’s 18 kids living there and Sue did say they top certain things up in the week probably as and when they need them. There’s no point in going wild and then throwing things away a week or two later when they haven’t been eaten and gone out of date. They also don’t need soft drinks, there is perfectly good tap water to drink in the UK for free which is better than soft drinks and squash.

@@divahc1 agreed! My husband and I have 8 kids and we only drink water and some milk if it is in cereal or for our 2 little ones. Flavored drinks of any sort are not needed. We can certainly afford it but we dont get it because it isnt healthy and it's bad for your teeth.

So much attention to her children's favourite. I admire this family so much becoz they work hard for so many children. Hope your husband's business doing well and success to pay for the kids living expenses and education. You are not getting younger and there's still small children you have.

Is it not cost effective for such a large family to by in bulk some items eg Costco ?

Sure has the perfect temperament for a busy mum. She never yells or gets impatient regardless of how many kids are asking her something.
