This seems like the sort of product that you'd see on an infomercial, with an Esteban style pitch man telling you how it's a great gift idea for your grandkids for 3 easy payments of $49.99. Sending this out to actual guitar players with strong opinions was always going to be the wrong plan for a product like this. And thinking that the threatening emails weren't going to get out is pro level ignorance.

Esteban has integrity compared to this product's marketing; sure it's cheese but you are not being deceived, it's openly cheesy, they embrace the cheesiness and maybe even celebrate it a little. And that's okay.

i hate the whole mindset of “learning an instrument sucks, our product helps u skip that as much as possible” that people use as a marketing thing. i learned several instruments when i was younger playing in orchestras and now i started self teaching bass this year and the process of getting the hang of it is some of the best feeling stuff. of course it’s not easy but there’s this wonderful sensation of each time i pick up an instrument feeling more confident and better sounding that time than i did before and i think skipping that, aside from just not being how learning works, would make it a worse experience.

Probably the same kind of people as the ones that cheat in video games. People wanna be good at stuff, but they don't want to put in the effort, which is sad, because learning an instrument has been one of the most rewarding and fulfilling things I've ever done.
@sigiligus

Reminds me of some alleged interaction between a musician and a fan. “I would do anything to play like you.” “Have you ever picked up the instrument and practiced?” “No.” “Then you wouldn’t do anything to play like me.” That’s a bad paraphrase, anyway.
@ornleifs
@ornleifs 8 ай бұрын
But I'm pretty sure that most people find practicing an instrument to be a boring activity, I once saw a statistic about music students and 80% of them are at a beginner level and most of them never get to a higher level cause for them practising sucks. I think most of those who get to higher levels get there cause they really enjoy the physical activity of playing an instrument, Steve Vai was once asked that he must have been very disciplined as a teenager cause he played the guitar 10 hours a day but he said, No I just loved it so much and when I was doing other things I thought, I could be playing the guitar now.

Side note: I’ve taught over 20 people to play bass over the years; if your fingers are hurting when you’re learning, most commonly you’re pressing too hard. Make sure your bass is set up properly and it shouldn’t take so much force to fret notes. Stay loose, bass isn’t played rigidly - you’re in the rhythm section now! That is all, as you all were

Gonna chime in here as a guitarist of 20 years. Pain in the tips of the fingers is something to be expected, not avoided. It helps build calluses, and strength in the hand. If an individual actively goes out of their way to avoid it, they'll never improve, nor gain the strength they need in their hands to be a proficient player.
@castleanthrax1833

It doesn't really last long, either. It's been a few decades since I experienced that beginner finger pain, but from memory, it was kinda short lived.
@kassemir
@kassemir 8 ай бұрын
It's unclear if they're talking about building calluses, or if they're talking more about like joint pain. Which some people probably legitimately have. But, in that case I'd probably rather try extremely light gauge strings, rather than that plastic monstrosity.
@TheRockinDonkey
@TheRockinDonkey 8 ай бұрын
@@kassemir My brother had a guitar synth years ago that was similar to this, the only difference being that the "fretboard" for lack of a better word, was a piece of molded rubber with the "strings" molded into it about an eighth of an inch tall. You would press the "strings" and strum the strings to play chords or even single notes. It even had a whammy bar that would do pitch shifting. It was neat, but not very easy to play and, like this monstrosity, you couldn't bend (but you did have the whammy bar). It was marketed as a toy and I don't know what my parents paid for it when they got it for him (this was in the late 80s/early 90s), but it sure as hell wasn't equivalent to $600 in today's money. This smells like some kind of scam, probably tax fraud.

Back in 1998 I started practicing on my sister's nylon string without any guidance. I then got some chromatic exercises from her guitarist friend and just sat down and practiced them for hours. That burning feel of my fingers and seeing how I started taking control of my fingers was the best feeling I have ever had in my life. When I see these kinds of products, I'm immediately turned off as these completely ignore journey and the pleasure. No thanks! :)

I think its funny that people still think there is a "life hack" or a way to bypass practice and learning. As a multi instrumentalist in my early 40s... There simply arent any. Either you enjoy the musicianship part of the artform or you dont. If you dont then I recommend going out and finding another artform that suits you (no harm done really). They all require lots of learning and time spent but one will eventually come along that speaks to you where the labour of learning becomes the "fun" and instead of wondering for how long you have to practice you will wonder why you always seem to lose track of time when practicing. The way this product is being marketed is incredible, it’s like they’ve invented problems and are trying to sell the solution. The guitar is already one of the most accessible instruments out there in that you don’t need to study music theory or learn to read music to be a reasonably proficient player, and because of that fact it is one of the most fun instruments to learn. Learning theory and improving your technique is completely up to the player and how far you want to take it. Some people are perfectly happy strumming a few chords and playing a few riffs and that’s cool. At the end of the day, you can’t beat that euphoric feeling when you finally nail the song/riff/solo you’ve been practicing and you actually sound like the record. The finger pain is absolutely nothing as well, you get over that in like 2 or 3 days. The price tag on this piece of garbage is also highly amusing, $599 means they actually think this is a serious product, where it actually looks like a kids toy that should be about $50 max. This product will sink 100%.

I honestly was looking at the Jammy to have a MIDI guitar, and I may have even gotten one if they were in stock while looking at them. Then I read about them not being sent to buyers. My understanding was that it was pretty good for what it was supposed to be though. That is, not intending to be necessarily a guitar, but not really advertizing itself as one. I ended up getting a jamstik though. I'm not at a skill level where it's noticeably dropping notes or anything, but I could imagine tracking won't ever really be perfect for such a thing, especially for someone who plays real quick or with a lot of subtlety. It certainly seems to work better than the aeroband where reviewers have it sounding notes just by touching the thing.

I mean, if I was having issues with playing guitar and pain in my fingers I'd get a nylon-strung acoustic so when the pain got to much on steel strings I'd move over to nylon, that'd build up calluses slowly while getting in the time learning.

The Tim Henson signature Ibanez Nylon string electric is $699 the FRH10N the slight downgrade it’s based on is $499. Those are real guitars with little finger pain that you can gig and record with and also be an avant garde cool guy.

I only heard about the Aeroguitar in the last couple of days and have seen a few reviews, including the main one that slated it. The instrument reminds me of the Casio DG from the late 80s / early 90s.

It also seems like they're used to dealing with fake "reviewers" and that's who they're looking for. So they're just email blasting everyone they can find. I have no idea why any true reviewer that saw "promote" in the email ever did anything besides ignoring the email.🤷‍♂

That is the most ridiculous product, reminds me of late night TV For $29.95 Yes You to can Be cool ... Where did they come up with this... You mentioned The Video Game GUITAR HERO.. Everything about the guitar seems ridiculous... Why would a student pay $600 ??? ! No I & I mean No market demographic research went into this.. Most beginners purchase a CHEAP Starter SET with guitar, amp, cord, strap, gig bag, pics & even some now come with online lessons $250 & below. Or how about a used Fender, Gibson for $400 or less. Pro Level Makes Me Laugh.. This was an Awesome video I really needed a laugh... Cheers 🎸 🥃🥃

If you actually want a guitar-shaped MIDI controller, the Starr Labs Ztar is still available. Frontman of the band Pendulum Rob Swire uses one. They're more expensive than even the AeroBend but they're also built correctly.

God this "guitar" brand is getting decimated by the algorithm. Think they shouda thought about their product a bit more before unleashing it onto the reviewer community and then start threatening folks with legal action for bad reviews.

There's nothing boring, for me anyway, about listening to a Stratocaster through a DOD 250 or a YJM overdrive, or similar voiced overdrive. In the right hands, it can sound far from boring but I get that KZbin guitar drama is what gets the algorithms cooking. Every popular guitar channel is doing their video of why they didn't review the product in question. That was way more predicable (boring?) than a decent overdrive pedal review, like Elmo Karjialainen and the likes do.

I always watch your videos for your non-BS point of view. I like how you don't take sides and just tell the story. If you did a review on something I know it would have no bias and that is a good feeling

11:14 I see this a bit different: They created expectations (promised things) that might have people buy this product. What the reviewers did was show these promises would not be fulfilled (something the buyers *) would only discover after their purchase. *) A large part of the prospected buyers in my view would have been not-too-well-informed-but-wel-off grandparents, buying this as a Christmas present for their grandchildren.
