I purchased the D8860 last year, and thankfully it doesn't have the disastrous quick disconnect Fein chuck shown here and went with a standard Weldon chuck.

Great Video! Major take aways for me were 1) your demonstration of the quick connect feature. In another videw - they were "fighting againts" the connecter - where you simply inserted the piece. 2) Your idenfication and lick for the "AccuSize Nitto Annular Cutter 10pc Set" which fits this model is also very helpful 3) Lastly, your identification of the Nitto to 3/4 Weldon Adapter by name is a big deal great find too! FYI - One thing that helped sway toward the Vevor 1400W Mag drill - was the ability to adjust - raise and lower the arbor height by lossening the silver hex score. This to me makes it much more feasible to use the drill chuck and / or other adapters. Once again thank you.

I use annular cutters on my mill. The R-8 to 3/4” Weldon annular adapter chuck I use can accept the Nitto cutters. You have to rotate them to get the set screws to line up, but it does work without a problem. But as he said, the Weldon shank bits don’t work in the Nitto chuck. I assume there’s a Weldon to Nitto adapter available as well, but I haven’t looked yet.

I own the same unit, if you use the Nitto one touch to Weldon adapter you must increase the length of the guide pin equal to the increased offset of the adapter.

This is great info, I didn't think of that. I appreciate you adding value to this video. With that said, what's your overall opinion on the mag drill? Would you recommend it?

Thanks for the review. Judging by sound alone - It sounds as if the minmal speed possible is still very high for cutting metal. Is that your impression as well?
@ChallengeTheBuild
@ChallengeTheBuild 3 ай бұрын
It definitely has the torque needed to cut metal at a low rpm this also cuts down on heat transfer into the cutter which allows longer cutter life...(using coolant of some kind of course)

Where do you get the adapter for the Weldon cutters?
@ChallengeTheBuild

I see my link in the description says currently unavailable on Amazon, you may have to search online. You can try this part number ( Accusize 0519-8000 ) see what happens.

what cutting fluid do you use and do you dilute it at all?
@ChallengeTheBuild
@ChallengeTheBuild Жыл бұрын
For this video I used wd40, other times I have used windshield washer fluid and my buddy told me years ago antifreeze makes the best cutting fluid (which makes sense) but still never tried it. I have also read the reviews on Slugger cutting fluid seems decent ( amzn.to/47bvLvv The link is an affiliate link and I earn from qualified purchases. ) Hope this helps, good luck and thanks for commenting.

and now there's coolant on, and below your welding table :-\ I hate using coolant unless it's on a machine/surface that is designed to work with flood coolant. I'd rather just use a little but of cutting oil here so that coolant doesn't go all over everything.

I generally use cutting oil also, I used coolant to show the drill in use... But I agree to what you are saying...👍

I'd be a little concerned with rust.. A buddy of mine uses antifreeze and when you think about the properties of antifreeze it makes a lot of sense to use it... I just haven't done it yet.

Thanks for the review. I think the one-touch Nitto is a terrible design choice. It enormously restricts your choice of cutters and makes them significantly more expensive.

The nitto one touch is nice and they make and adapter if need be... Guess it all depends on what you need... Thankfully there are other options...

It could... But considering I bought the older model that I compared it to I am somewhat invested regardless. The new version is very nice and much better than the old one. The only thing I would suggest is getting the one with the standard 3/4 weldon shank...
