The thick hex shaped thing with the holes is a bench block for bench work - layout or driving pins ect. Some of them are for machinists and some are used by jewelers or watch makers. Enjoyed your video

4:52 - that's an indicator holder that goes around the quill on your Bridgeport. It's missing some pieces but usually now they're plastic.

Just doing some lockdown watching and catching up of some of my favourite youtubers and came across this one I had missed. I found this depressing; not because of the style or subject material as such, but because of the companies and businesses lost to time that'll never be resurrected, and just become a footnote in history. It's a shame that most of the parts in this auction never, ever got used but lay around in some workshop - or various workshops, somewhere where stories were being told and livelihoods created...and then lost as manufacturing moved on to the world we have today made up of consumerist junk. I ask questions to myself surrounding that receipt from 1977 like, "what life did the person have who filled out the details and were they young enough to still be alive today?". And I worry about them and their families and the empty space created from their potential demise. Must be the Covid-19 lockdown here in the UK making me quite melancholic as I learn about people I knew dying from the disease. Stay safe Ian from 🇬🇧

I find this interesting. I just don’t like crowds and haggling, so my experience may be limited to watching your videos. Maybe I’ll be tempted to try it one day. You should watch ScoutCrafter on KZbin if you don’t already. He mainly restores old hand tools, but he also teaches some skills and shows interesting and unusual tools. He has a broad life experience and I’ve really come to enjoy his videos. He seems like a great guy.

I am an introvert myself, but for some reason crowds don't bother me to much. I checked out ScoutCrafter, yes he is good, thanks for the heads up.

You got a hell of a deal with some of those tools, use them in good health.
