Very smart decision. When I realized I was going to be in the hobby long term I made the switch as well. Who wants to buy 2 part for ever😂

I have been thinking about making the switch as well. Currently I dose about 2,7 liters calcium and 2,9 liters of kH daily. That is more than 2000 liters a year combined included the magnesium part. I use Randy Holmes recipe. Total system is about 26000liters. When you said you used 20 liters a month, is that for each dosing container or combined? Reason for asking is just to get some numbers so I can calculate the size of calcium reaktor I need for my system. Btw, I LOVE your tanks, they are true masterpieces.

Holy hell mate! That’s some amount of dosing. Is that regular strength baling? I dosed around 23L total but that was 4x strength vs regular baling I believe. With that amount of consumption a carx is a given in my opinion.
@janrstenskar6190
@janrstenskar6190 10 ай бұрын
Thanks for the reply. Lets say your balling is 4x the strenght of mine, will give you a total of roughly 1 liters of each pr day. Then its about a third of my dosing schedule. Its a great starting point to calculate. How many kg or liters of media do you have in your reactor???? And how long do you think it will run before you need to fill up with media and co2????
@sompen
@sompen 10 ай бұрын
@@janrstenskar6190 I think I have about 15-18kg of media in the main chamber and about 7-8kg in the second chamber. I think I’ll have to wash and top up the media perhaps once every 6 months or so but that’s just a guess. No real clue to how often I need to refill the co2 chamber as it’s been so long since I used a carx. If it turns out that it’s needed more than twice a year I’ll be getting a bigger tank. The refill was like 30 euros haha.

Really good explanation, Thanks! How does it vent in degassing mode ?
@viking_reefing
@viking_reefing 11 ай бұрын
Thanks! The pump basically pulls in reverse and empties all the gas’s from the top until there’s just water in the main chamber. Then it starts injecting co2 again.

Hvor meget vand puttede du i reaktor da du skulle starte den op? Fyldte du den helt op og derefter tændte for co2 tilsætningen(som så skubber noget af vandet ud igen) eller fyldte du kun vand op til den optiske censor? Fedt video i øvrigt
@viking_reefing

Tack! Jag fyllde den så högt det gick och sen använde jag refill mode för att helt fylla den med vatten. Därefter börjar den släppa in co2 ner till sensorn.

I have been looking into moving to cal reactor. Just curious, did you get paid or compensated in any way shape or form to make this video?
@viking_reefing
@viking_reefing 11 ай бұрын
Yeah, if you’re having high consumption I would definitely look towards a calcium reactor. It’s such a relief to not have to worry about baling. Nope, never been paid to make a video. They did however provide the reactor free of charge for me to try out but were completely fine with me giving my honest opinion. Honestly, the price for any other reactor would have been the same. Interesting question though…perhaps I should do a video about how this stuff works as questions tend to pop up.

@@viking_reefing You got free products, which by the very definition means you got paid and needs to be disclosed. Made worse by the fact this is the worst possible design to use in Ca reactors with no pH control over CO2 and a large CO2 exchange zone so the output (alk concentration) will be all over the place with ZERO control over the media melting point (which can be from ph from 6.1 to 7.5 depending on brand of media). This is why it is so important to clearly disclose the fact you took free goods to make the advert (sorry "review"). I doubt this would of been the actual choice you would of made considering how poorly this companies design actually works compared to the other 2 standard Ca Reactor design.....

A little over 400. If you have their all tester it will control the carx. I don’t but if I see the readings from my kh director going up or down I’ll adjust the flow of effluent

You need to disclosed this is a paid advert after receiving free goods to make this "review". Calcium reactor can't really be used as stand alone, it still requires some dosing if you want to keep the levels stable as a calcium reactor is really just an Alkalinity pump/doser. If you have proper pH control you can use this to control the amount of Alk being pumped out, so when the test is a little low you drop the pH by 0.05 pH increasing the Alk concentration and raising the Alk level in tank. It is also worth noting this style of calcium reactor with a gas exchange zone are super inefficient (the worst possible Ca reactor design) and results in the internal pH of the calcium reactor (the most important parameter to control) wandering all over the place as the CO2 absorption changes greatly dependant on volume of void. It appears there is NO pH CONTROLLER which makes this complete garbage.....
