We live in the US. We have friends who are married and like you wanted a child. Here is how they did it. Same as you, they wanted to have a child with their own DNA. So, our 1 friend asked his family for a donated egg. And he immediately had 2 or 3 women in the family volunteer. Invitro was done, with his husbands sperm, and they had a beautiful little boy. The second baby was done same way but with donated egg from 2nd husbands' family. Again invitro and now they have a boy AND a girl. And their families and all their friends including us, LOVE those kids so much. But mostly, they feel complete. And their happiness shows in everything they do.

Babies need love, food and shelter. They are afraid of loud noises and the feeling of falling. I think you have it covered. There is no wrong or right. I’ve always dealt with children in a manner that made them feel that what they are feeling matters and is important to me. I never make them overeat. I only ask that they try new foods because they may like them. If they don’t, they don’t have to eat them. I’ve had many children during my life. None of my own. I would have been a very good parent, but I believe in a two parent household. I never felt secure enough in my relationships to bring a child of my own into the mix. It was a choice. You’ll do wonderfully. Congratulations. That mobile in the nursery is beautiful.

My mother died when I was 2 and my brother 4, way back in 1952. My Dad raised us as a single father against everyone’s advice to put us in an orphanage. Single Dads were unheard of in those days but he did a phenomenal job raising two successful, well balanced people. Men can raise kids no question… It’s not easy raising kids ( I raised two) and it does change your life in ways you can’t imagine. A baby grows quickly into a toddler, into school age, into a teenager. Every stage is challenging… Good luck you guys! And bravo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Brought up three children in three separate house renovation projects. All beautiful adults now and we always saw it as investing our time and energy for their future. It’s so beautiful. And so happy for you both!!! I wanted to share a gentle perspective on a comment I heard in this episode. When Borja mentioned that the surrogate was “just the oven” and not the mother, it made me pause. I know your intention was likely to clarify roles, but I felt that this phrasing may unintentionally overlook the incredible contribution and experience of surrogates. As someone who’s passionate about supporting equality and respect for all, I believe there’s an opportunity here to acknowledge the surrogate’s role with more honor and appreciation. While you both will be the loving parents raising this child, and I fully celebrate that, it’s also worth recognizing that the surrogate brought this life into the world through her own body, with her own experiences, and under her care. Her body nurtured, grew, and protected the baby for months, and her lived experiences and emotional state during this time have a lasting impact on the child’s development. Though she may not be the legal parent, her efforts and the physical, emotional, and even ancestral connections she shared with the baby are significant. I don’t believe the comment was meant to diminish her contribution, but it might come across that way, especially to females who have carried or wish to carry a child. Childbirth is a profound and, at times, deadly journey, and I think honoring that courage and commitment speaks to the values of respect and equality that I know you both hold dear. In this world of striving for greater equality and understanding, I’d love to see us all honoring the contributions of everyone involved in these beautiful journeys-whether it’s the loving parents raising the child or the surrogate who carried them into this world. Thanks for your comment. By no means did we mean to diminish the miraculous thing that our surrogate and other surrogates do. The comment was purely around the biological connections to the child as most seem to believe the surrogate who gives birth to the child is the mother but that is not the case. However the role they played in our child’s life is everlasting and they will be in his life forever. 🥰

My ex husband had never held a baby, changed a nappy or had anything to do with children at all much less a baby, but he was brilliant. Sadly he left us when my youngest was 15 months old however that being a daddy was still his favourite job. I truly believe children are a gift to each and every parent and I know your baby is truly blessed to have a Daddy and a Papa like both. Congratulations! How glorious it is to become parents ❤. My husband & I experienced the challenges of IVF to have our 2 beautiful boys. I can only imagine what it must have been for you both.
