We hope you’ll excuse us for taking our sweet time finishing the nursery. When you’re expecting a baby, everything must be just right - down to the books and toys that go on the refurbished shelves and the clothes that are lovingly hung in our customized closet. Curious whether we’re having a boy or a girl? Borja and our best buddy Chris insisted on having not one but TWO gender reveal ceremonies; so prepare yourselves for what Dean thinks is the cheesiest reveal yet!

I love the joyful innocence of soon to be parents. 💙 He is a lucky boy to have two dedicated loving parents. PS don't be surprised if baby doesn't like certain bottles, different brands suit different babies. Also, be warned he may be on the move a long time before a year old 😀

We got some great advice when our first son was born. I'm of english heritage and my husband is Italian. We wanted to use both languages around our son, and someone advised us very early on to not just randomly switch between languages but make it clear to our son which language we were using and when, so he could differentiate. He loves languages now, and at the age of 12 taught himself Japanese! Exciting times ahead boys, getting to know your little one 💙💙💙

@@mytinyestate I speak english. A bit of broken Italian. My husband is fluent in both Italian and English. So english is the language we use at home and preface using Italian with 'and in Italian you'd say.....' . Helps that our kids had both sets of grandparents speaking their native tongue to them too. And dont forget the most important language...music ❤❤

I am Dutch and my Husband Australian….both our sons speak Dutch with me but mostly speak English, except when we want to keep a secret….and they definitely know when I am not pleased as I call them by their full names and speak to them in Dutch….they run 😂😂😂😂

I see books I bought for my children on those lovely shelves! Now my grandchildren love them. Our books are a little like the circular economy in that way. As for cardboard boxes - all you need is a texts and it could be anything. My kids loved them - different decor every week!

Fave baby book recommendation from me 'guess how much i love you' its gorgeous and such a lovely story. Which is great because you will be 'made' to read the same books over and over probably even in the same day 😂😂 main recomendation is find your nearest library haha

You asked for comments about what is missing in your nursery; I don't see a changing table, and that is an essential ingredient in any nursery, unless you are planning to have a baby that doesn't need changing. As a neat freak myself, a baby certainly changed all that. No one can prepare new parents for the amount of work such a small bundle generates. The reality is, the little one just needs love and safety and he won’t recognize the “nice environment” or your carefully planned decoration for years to come. You will find yourself letting go of staging books and toys … you will just want to go to bed once he’s - finally - asleep! Looking forward to the “reality” videos!

Just need a cozy changing pad, with washable covers, on top of the dresser with a basket for diapers and wipes. No need for a whole changing table.

Oh how wonderful. Dean, your rattle is called a wobble globe, my son (42) had one of those. I won’t be having grandchildren, so I am going to enjoy this journey. Totally agree about the bedroom being the calm space.. my son slept through the night as I kept it as a calming area to wind down, and I NEVER sent him to his bedroom as a punishment, they then resent their bedroom .. much love ❤

I’m so excited for you both. I’m a granny to two (5 yo girl and 20 month boy) I rarely proffer advise unless specifically asked but I will just say give yourselves time. They are exhausting when they’re tiny… clear your diaries, have no expectations of doing much more than getting up and dressed in the first few days/weeks but routines will form and before you know it you’ll be dab hands. It’s such an exciting/scary/amazing/exhausting/wonderful rollercoaster…. Can’t wait to see you in your new roles of Daddy and Poppa 🩵

I have a son and he’s been a joy for almost 40 years. Except for his first 6 weeks due to colic when I had lots of broken sleep, he then slept like a log. I’m also glad to say he never experienced the “terrible twos”. The best bit of advice I’d offer is to get your little one into a sleep routine as quickly as possible and try to get as much rest as you both can when possible. Stay calm and relaxed and the baby will pick up on those vibes. The house can wait, the baby can’t. Love all the books and what a lucky child to grow up bilingual.

You said you had loads of bottles…I’d say at least 3 more, you’ll both be very tired and it’ll give you a little more time to wash and sterilise. Fireplace, maybe a basket of baby’s cuddly toys? Definitely not advice, just an idea. Another boy for the team, Woohoo!!!!!

Awww, I´m so happy for you guys. A boy! It´s much tougher than you think with kids. My now ex-husband and I had four children. That was tough. Abuelito will be a great support aswell. I can see her for my eyes. I´m brought up talking three languages, it was tough but when you get older it´s just a bonus to have it fluent. Don´t forget to send him to Spain as often as Borjas family will have him. I´m planning in moving to Malaga myself so I can babysit aswell ;-) Lots and lots of love towards you guys ;-)

On either side of the fireplace would be a great place for toy boxes. There will be lots ‘n lots ‘n lots of stuff at the end of each day once your little one starts walking a year or so from now. Later, when he’s a bit older, he can be taught to pick up at the end of the day to tidy up.

How about building a toy box made out of MDF that snugly fits across the bottom of the nursey book recess (on casters) with a Pink Lady custom upholstered cushion so Deabor, Junior has a cosy little nook to read his books.

congratulations! I’m so excited just watching how excited you two are and remembering how exciting it was for me when I brought home my first baby. The curtain on the floor is a big no-no for safety reasons. Perhaps just a decorative fabric on the rod at the top of the window? Or no curtains at all?

Hi guys! So excited for you and loving the prep for the baby - quick question, do you have a changing table in the baby’s bedroom? Not sure if it’s standard in the UK, but indispensable in US (sometimes is a dresser with secured padding - shaped so baby doesn’t roll off - on top). You’ll want something with storage for everything you need to get a diaper off and on with one hand and as quickly as possible ❤

We don’t ! We did question it and have the space for it … we will see how things unfold and if we need it as we imagine we will only need it during the night as in the day we will be elsewhere downstairs and what not
