I like this. No reason Norsca needed to be chaotic wastes since we do have the actual chaos wastes up there.

yeah i agree. this makes a lot more sense. that being said, i still dont like how Norsca is currently implemented in the game and i frankly dont see the race getting the same glow-up that the WoC got. I wonder if it would suit the race better if they just got axed and were instead moved into the WoC but kept their mechanics but their roster got moved into the rest of the chaos factions and Norsca got some of the WoC units in return. basically just make them sort of like a sub faction. the issue is how would they work with dark fortresses since they are already limited. as it stands norsca is just going to get rolled over by everyone

@Ragatokk to be fair for the most part they really weren't ever a race to begin with. It's just something that got pulled put of their hats for Warhammer 2 pre-order. They are a wannabe chaos faction that should just embrace chaos

@zacharyjackson1829 nah I think you might just hate Norsca. The idea of northern tribes who worship chaos but don't fully understand chaos is pretty appealing tbh. There's room for a lot more mysticism around their versions of chaos. It's like magic in Harry Potter with rules and phrases vs magic in LotR, where wizards can kind of just do whatever. They should really have gotten units that went to Kislev is SoC, maybe with a bit more chaos corruption. Since they are a monster faction lean more into prehistoric stuff, sabertooth cav, stalking hunters, berserkers who worship khorn without knowing his true name. Bassically a more wild version of Kislev

Honestly such a good change! Norscan lands have often been barren do the lack of incentive for ordertide factions to take it - now it could be a viable place to conquer.

Sadly, no love for northern human wildlings. We need norsca and other wild human unions to be presentent and be playable. And also be playable in a ways of men unions (kingdoms), wild tribes (monster hunters, raiders, foe-seekers and adventurers) or chaos worshipers (chaos warriors) - so player may choose and go the way he wants. And, would be my favorite part, to mix these ways any way player want.

I believe Kislev has a commandment called Magic Wards of Climate Change which nullifies Chaotic Wasteland climate effects.

@mightyowl3875 by the time you have time to go that far west in Norsca, you already get so much devotion. The more sucky part is until you claim the entire province, all the region that are wasteland are penalize until you can set the commandment

Actually, even in the pre-patch version, most of norsca is frozen or montainous climate, there's only a bunch of non-coastal territories in the heart of norsca are chaos wasteland climate. (I'm in the middle of a Katarin playthrough) And Kislev can cancel out the chaos wastelands effects through a commandment. It costs some devotion to maintain, but you can easily get that devotion within the provinces

Gives me hope they’re making Norsca as a race into a more diet chaos culture where you can dabble in plenty of chaos (via mechanics and units) but you can still stay true to its heavy metal viking culture we all know and love. Hope to see a culture diverfiying DLC for them in the future where you get some chaos focused characters while also getting some characters that defy chaos outright. i hope to see the roaster and mechanics reflect that as well.

these are now so rich provinces, it is hilarious. Also we should not forget, that it also has an effect on local recruitment, as it was 2 turns to recruit a basic unit, now turning to 1, and most of kislev units are from that tier!

I’m so glad they did this, Kostaltyn had nowhere to go but to betray the empire. Then after months CA gave them a bandaid to spend devotion to remove it and now I can finally play the chad himself without being dogpiled by 5 legendary lords before turn 20!

They really need to do a rework of Norsca, not just the mechanics, but the faction concept. Rename them to "Northmen" or "The Northmen" or something like that and add the tribes that live north of Cathay as DLC can also add a LL at Skeggi.

I remember during TW:WH2 they had suitable climates on the Lord Select Screen before you started a campaign. Then there were the baseline Climates for each race (their likes and dislikes), but some Lords had normally hostile climates become suitable to make the campaign smoother. They really should have kept that around and applied it to ones like Markus and Ku'gath.

Kinda defeats the lore of Norsca imo. It has always been a chaotic hell hole, at least especially so once you've gone past the southern coasts. I also feel like that was the whole point: to prevent Ordertide from just rolling in, setting up shop easy breazy and moving onto the Chaos Wastes themselves which are super tiny compared to everything the Order factions have free reign over. It's what added to the fun of playing Kislev and the Empire even. At this point they may as well do away with the climate suitability entirely. Especially if LLs like Boris, Grom and Khatep (those ones immediately come to mind) are going to be surrounded by Unsuitable climates for most of their campaigns while Malakai gets it easy.
