That is such a deal on the potatoes. And you're right; mashed potatoes freeze beautifully.

You got some great deals!! I would have never thought about buying from restaurants!! I have to tell my neighbor! They have 8 kids!! Great haul Sweetie! Stay safe!! Don't overdue yourself!! 💖💖

Well, I hope that helped! I'm so glad. :) Jesse's from a family of eight kids. Having kids of our own now, we realize our parents must've really had to get creative to make the food go further. lol. Thanks for your concern. I am trying to pace myself. Jesse gets upset with me if I overdo it, which is a good reminder. :P Talk to you soon, Rhonda. Hope you're doing well.

My local store is having a crazy 8 sale,.88 each item when you buy 8,and you can mix and match. They run this sale every 2-3 months.
@homemadehomestead29853 жыл бұрын
Huh. That's a cool idea! And that sounds like an awesome sale. I wish our stores around here did something like that. That'd be really nice. :)

Wow that’s an amazing haul! I wish there were stores around me that had sales like that. And chips and salsa have always been my favorite ☺️

Thanks for watching! I like that chips and salsa are so simple. And such a crowd-pleaser for how easy it is. :)

Yes i do twice baked potatoes and freeze on cookie sheets then freeze in ziploc bags .
@homemadehomestead29853 жыл бұрын
Oh, okay. So, kind of like flash freezing? That kind of thing is so handy. It really makes things so much nicer when it comes to pulling food back out to thaw. :)

Costco also has a good price on tortilla chips
@homemadehomestead29853 жыл бұрын
Oh okay. We do get those too occasionally. They were out there the last time we were there, so we ended up going with the organic kind. When we saw these chips for that deal, we had to scoop them up. There's always a demand for chips in this household. lol Thanks for watching, Shannon. It's good to hear from you again.

I recently discovered a dish called Irish potato nachos, using russet potatoes. The dish was amazing!

💗We love chips and salsa🌶 too-hubby actually makes and cans his own salsa. Our favorite Dorito is taco flavored. 😋 An easy potato recipe I do weekly is to make a big instant pot full of baked potatoes with skin on and then refridge. Then later I cut them into fry or wedge shape l, sprinkle with seasoning, and cook in air fryer 400 degrees for like 12min. Also I make an enchilada stack- layer tortillas, sauce cheese, beans, corn and bake. So much easier than rolling enchiladas.😃 Lol
@homemadehomestead29853 жыл бұрын
That's awesome that you make some of your own stuff. Especially salsa. I feel like that's such a must. I've never seen or heard of taco flavored doritos before. Are they similar to nacho cheese? And that potato idea...and the enchilada bake both sound so good! I love the simplicity of the bake. I normally wrap the enchiladas up in flour tortillas for everyone else, which makes it a little easier than corn. But yeah, the bake sounds easier still. :)

@@homemadehomestead2985 oh wow taco doritos are the best. 😄They are like the nacho doritos but have a taco seasoning on them instead of cheese. It's in an orange bag. I thought they'd be all over the US. I'm in southern Wisconsin.
@homemadehomestead29853 жыл бұрын
Ah, okay. That's interesting. I'd probably like that kind a little better than nacho cheese. That's more Rach's thing. :)

My husband loves la Victoria but we don’t have it here. I make red enchilada sauce and it is really easy. I have tried a few different ones and compared on my blog if you want to check them out. We prefer red so I have only looked at making that one. I would have bought the same for $0.99 potatoes!! We have made potatoes last a few months. Love the bulk purchases!! So jealous 😁
@homemadehomestead29853 жыл бұрын
That's so cool that you make your own enchilada sauce! Way to be. I didn't know you had your own blog. I'll have to check that out! Can you send that to me? Oh my word, and I ended up being glad I found those potatoes for that price! We had roasted chicken, salad, and mashed potatoes and gravy the other night. We had one guest over for dinner. Just one. And between all of us, we ate through one whole five pound bag! Apparently, when we eat potatoes...we EAT potatoes. :P Thanks for watching!

@@homemadehomestead2985 You Tube blocks links but google NOVA Frugal Family and it should be linked under the recipe tab. We use over 15 pounds of potatoes 🥔 a month. I was shocked when we ran out so I try to buy at least 20 lb for a month 😂

Stupid youtube. lol. Thanks for that though. That sounds like a lot of potatoes. But then again, depending on how your family eats, it's crazy how quickly things can run out sometimes. A lot more quickly than you'd think.
