The resources and experience that Michael Andretti can bring from his other racing teams is what he brings to the table to get the team running productively. I would not underestimate it. The requirements to field an Indy car team should have a lot of parallels, even despite the differences. The is clearly a petty personal issue with the owner or of liberty media and Michael, this was personal and it showed. The hurdles made the news and with Cadillac and GM involved, the legislators from Detroit were going to notice and it lets them make headlines. They reached out to Mario and started that ball rolling, they could only gain credit for their constituencies from being seen making the effort.

Businesses is rarely personal. Its all about the numbers. For better or for worse: Andretti *isnt* a big name outside the US. Cadillac and General Motors on the other hand play in entirely different leagues of recognizability *and* are more more in line with F1 wanting more *manufacturers* not privateers.

Yeah, it was all about he Andretti name and nothing to do with the extra 250 million (450 million total) that the teams will share by delaying the entry by a year to when revised Concorde agreements were going to be in place.

I'm certainly excited for Cadillac, and Audi for that matter. New blood is a good thing, IMO. I don't think Caddy have that big of a head start over the other teams, considering they are still filling roles, finding staff, and smoothing out other operational processes as you mentioned. I think it's safe to assume they will want an American driver in the seat, which I think could be the most difficult part in finding someone with F1 calibre outside of IndyCar. Conjecture, of course, but something to consider. Cheers, mate!

If a headstart and unlimited budget for 2026 was such a concern for F1 and All of the teams they should have approved them for 2025 competition and let them falll under the current cap and development rules "wasting" money and effort on a one year rule set.

Cadillac may have some advantage of being able to start work immediately on there 2026 car but they also have a huge disadvantage of not having a lineage of experience with racing and refining F1 cars and they also don't have a track proven car. I think the two will balance themselves out.

The main reason is Michael. He isn't a particularly humble character and has made enemies as far back as his ill-fated stint in F1 in 1993. He had personal quarrels with people in F1. I don't remember his name, but when Michael stepped away from his team to make the entry happen, some guy in Liberty Media also stepped down. He had a personal beef with Michael, so both stepped away from their position in order so both sides could come to angreement without losing face.

Mercedes had several years head start for the current engines, no wonder they won everything. Then, the others caught up. Why not mention Audi? They have been designing their car for several years already plus designing the new engine that has yet to be introduced.

It was a mixture of getting it "right" but also there was limited development allowed on the engines. So, if a manufacturer got it "wrong" then it would take a very long time to catch up.

Surely Cadillac won't know what the new Ferrari engine specifications are going to be. Therefore, it will be very difficult to build a car around an engine gearbox and rear suspension that they don't know what will look like yet

Cheating? You said it, they have no restraints on their spending so, what rules are they breaking? Besides, let them spend the money. They are a brand new team and will be so far behind the rest of the grid, that their spending is not going to give them a big advantage. And, even if it does give them a little boost, it will be nice to see a team that can put a good product on the track and not be an embarrassment like Haas. Nope, because Audi bought an existing team. Sauber is Audi. The only reason it's still being called Sauber is that Sauber has an engine deal with Ferrari until the end of 2025. Audi didn't want to race under its name without its own engine, which will not be ready until 2026.

Why would they be. The biggest names in motorsport are already in F1. Ferrari, Mclaren, Williams, Aston Martin, Mercades, Audi, And RedBull for that matter.

Of course, their driver lineup will also make a lot of difference to their competitiveness and I don't think LeClerc, Verstappen or Norris are going to be driving for them. Even if they have an amazing rookie, they're unlikely to be able to compete with champions and race winners as soon as the lights go out.
