I remember the Derby Baths; also the whole of the Promenade from Starr Gate to Cleveleys when on a journey by tram. There were no vacant plots of land and the hotels were all intact, with no abandoned ones. Attempts to find accommodation without prior booking at the height of the summer season were virtually impossible. My father tramped around for an hour near the Cabin, without success. We ended up at my mother's aunt for a four day stay at Squires Gate, which was fortunate. This was in July 1966.

Eric.....Enjoyed the excellent demolition video. THANKS.......I was a regular swimmer at Blackpool Derby Baths. I recall, in the early 60's when I was about 24yrs old being on Dickson Rd., en route, in my MG Midget two seater car , I saw a Policeman ( no radios in those days) chasing two lads, about 17yrs of age. He grabbed one .I stopped and asked if I could help, telling him that I was an off duty Bobby. He put the prisoner in my car and he told me to take him to Police HQ. Luckily he was compliant ! I have no idea what he had done . I continued to my swimming session at the Olympic size pool, which had tiers of seats for the many swimming and diving events. Also attended summer aqua shows with amazing aqua aerobic displays. The demolition was a sad loss.

As usual, an expertly-produced video to the high standard we have come to expect! The drone footage was stunning and added a nice touch. I wondered if the wall immediately abutting the Rutland Hotel might be left in situ: it would provide additional support for the exposed side of the hotel. This would explain why the men are tidying the remaining part by hand, to give a neat appearance; it might be there for a while. It will probably become clear tomorrow that I am entirely wrong about this - and that might teach me not to speculate about things I know nothing about!
